According to JWhitt the following players are sticking out so far in the summer: Banks, Kam, and Agiye Hall.

Thanks for the heads up. JWhitt isn’t exactly Mike Tirico when it comes to broadcast smoothness, but he gets his point across at the end of the clip (and Tirico sucks in the slot). Says Hall has a great work ethic and already knows the system, so that might surprise some. And as noted, he’s really impressed with Banks and Williams.

Oh yeah, that’s the good stuff:

Spoiler

By: Justin, Gerry, and Eric

*Hudson Card and Quinn Ewers continue to rotate with 1s and 3s. The only reason we say the 3s is because they have the field split between 1s and 3s, and 2s and 4s. Both are playing well. Ewers has made a few more “arm talent” plays compared to Card. It should be noted, Card and Ewers have become pretty good friends. The perception of Ewers and the reality don’t always align. He’s a good teammate.

*Jordan Whittington caught a nice TD from Ewers and generally balled out on Thursday. He made 2-3 plays where he elevated and made the reception despite good coverage. While he was singing the praises of teammates, he was really the best player on the field this week.

*Brenen Thompson is as mature as he fast. He brings the right mindset and worth ethic and is gaining notice for those aspects as much as he is his speed. I

*Agyie Hall’s athleticism was on display this week. He mossed Jaylon Guilbeau on one play where he kept climbing the ladder. Hall has played inside and out and his been more of a vertical, beyond 15 yards threat so far.

*With other receivers getting getting a lot of looks Xavier Worthy has been pretty quiet. But when he’s targeted he offers a quick reminder of how explosive he is.

*Isaiah Neyor has been nursing something minor, we think with his hand.

*Iowa State wide receiver transfer Tarique Milton is solid. He does everything pretty well. He’s very business-like and fitting in already.

*Similarly to Milton, transfer linebacker Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey is settling in well. He’s experienced with a good attitude.

*True freshman receiver Savion Red had a few nice plays, including a dig route from Card he almost housed.

*Jaylon Guilbeau and Ishmael Ibraheem are back working with the team.

*Two young DB’s who had a good week were BJ Allen and Morice Blackwell. Each had a handful of PBU’s in 7 on 7. Blackwell still has some tightening up to do on his coverage and footwork but he’s active when the ball is in the air. As you saw in the spring game, he’s active when it’s on the ground too.

*Hardest workers in the weight room: Roschon Johnson, Kitan Crawford (“He’s so athletic it’s crazy”), Keilan Robinson, Junior Angilau, and Moro Ojomo. That’s not to say other guys don’t work really hard.

*Friday workouts feature the toughest conditioning day followed by a lift.

Early returns on the tremendous 2022 offensive line class

Warning: this is going to read like fan-fiction, but given it’s one of the best O-line classes of all time, that shouldn’t be too surprising.

*Sources believe there are at least four NFL draft picks in the freshman offensive line class.

*No surprise here, Kelvin Banks is for sure a left tackle.

*Given the Banks info was expected (well, to most everyone) perhaps the best news is Cam Williams. There’s confidence he will be a right tackle. That isn’t to say he’s going to start, just that tackle is his future rather than guard. In some ways he’s further ahead than people thought. He did come in heavy but is dropping weight fast.

*Neto Umeozulu is working out at right tackle but so far guard looks most likely, especially if Williams is a tackle. Part of his eval was guard being his best projection. He’s a plus run blocker and as a guard would be fantastic in pass pro.

*Devon Campbell is getting reps at tackle. That was part of the recruiting pitch. He’s still a likely guard.

*Connor Robertson has recovered well from shoulder surgery. They’re high on him long-term. Center of the future but could also play guard.

*Malik Agbo has played the least amount of football of this group but he’s further ahead of where he was believed to be. Good feet, can move.

*We’ve written numerous times Cole Hutson impressed during spring ball and will play this year.

*After talking to sources, we expect every single one of these guys to play this year. Snap allocation will vary but they’re not going to hold the pups back.

*It doesn’t look like there’s a miss in the bunch. That does not mean the O-line is going to be the ‘96 Cowboys this year, but the pieces are there to have a great college offensive line after having time to develop.

I especially like the prediction that this OL class will produce AT LEAST four draft picks. You know, the amount of OL drafted that we’ve had in the last 15 years combined…

Fuck it though, I want to believe it so I do.

If Williams actually does come in and win the tackle spot, or at least in the two deep, that would be ideal because that means that Campbell is likely starting at guard. Either Cam or Campbell coming in and beating out Christian Jones may be the best news we could hear out of fall camp.

The Kool Aid strong. I’m going to need them to add a little water, it’s June. At this rate Texas will be better than an NFL team by the time the late July reports come in.

I do like the news about big Cam tho. His expectations based on talks with the staff have always been you’re a tackle 100%. Now it’s up to him to get and keep the weight down.

Okay, right now, I am hanging w DeMarvion Overshown and Quinn Ewers. Super nice dudes. Im gonna make Quinn throw me a pass, like I made Casey Thompson do last summer. I’ll post pics.

If Ewers fucks up his thumb later in the season, you're going to have to have a meeting with the people.

Last year, I got to hang w Casey Thompson and Micah Parsons. This summer, it was Quinn Ewers and DeMarvion Overshown. Both are super nice guys. DeMarion is so chill and Quinn is just relaxed and really approachable. He's taller than I thought he would be. I told him his game against our Chaps was one of the greatest performances I've seen a HS player make and he really appreciated it. And what is now becoming a tradition, lol, I got to play catch with him. He has such a nice, super-tight spiral and it sails out of his hand. He arrived in an awesome, throwback, heavy-metal shirt. Can't wait to see what he can do this fall.

DeMarvion Overshown is a great guy. He looks like a model and I wouldn't be surprised if he did that after football. Man it was fun.

Neat. Same workouts are going on at southwest North Dakota state.

Ah, we're back to Surly geography.

There is no SWND State. In fact, the only public school in the SW part of the state is Dickinson State University in Dickinson which is about 60 miles from both the South Dakota and Montana borders.

Now, about Northeast West Virginia State...

I particularly enjoyed his passes to Michael Taaffe.

Damn it was probably 120 degrees yesterday on that turf. Jeans were a bad choice.

Hahah, I loved that play, too, especially since it finally made their mouthy WR shut his mouth. In regards to jeans on a super hot day, there was a really good reason they were wearing jeans and that’s all I say about that.

I have a feeling the shirts were no coincidence either, but that’s none of my business…
