Good start for Garcia.

The Meyers moves means that they will have to free a spot on the 40-man when he's ready to come off the IL.

Two immaculate innings in one game is just crazy.  There have only been 107.  There were none in MLB in the 1930s and 1940s.

Wikipedia says there have been ~218,400 MLB games.  If we take an average of 18 half innings per game, that gives ~1/37000 chance of an immaculate inning in any one half inning.

They've become more likely of course as the K-rate has increased but still...two in one game and the same three guys...wow.

Using those odds, there's about a 1 in 38 million chance of a team recording two immaculate inings in one game.  So with 30 teams playing a 162 game schedule, you wouldn't expect it to happen again for another 15,000 years.

I was told there would be no math

go on the road, take a lead in game one, lose it in disappointing fashion.  trail for most of game 2, stage late rally, come back and win.  game 3, jump on them early, coast to blowout win.  make fun of fans who got excited after game one.  get on plane happy.

Until the 8th inning last night, it looked like the Astros were about to drop a 3rd straight series to an inferior opponent, and the Rangers were going to be 6.5 back.

Les than 20 hours later, we took 2 out of 3 and they're 9.5 back.

In other words, immaculate innings are about as common as aggy wins in Omaha

Holy shit.

Finally getting a chance to come out of my cave today and just saw the news.

I fucking love baseball. Always a good day when your team does something never before done in the history of the sport

Well, you could argue the Rangers did something never before done in the history of the sport...

So this was the 7th and 8th immaculate innings thrown by the Astros

Pete Harnisch did it first in 1991

Mike Magnante, Randy Johnson, Shane Reynolds, Brandon Backe, and Will Harris were the rest. After the 4 in the 90s we had gone 15 years between Backe and Harris.

Any list with Brandon Backe on it is auto greatness.

The fact it was the same 3 rump rangers was fucking epic. LMFAO

The rangers fucking suck. It's kinda their thing. Seagers dumbass throw to the plate leading to a 4 run inning then GIDP his next AB killing any chance at a rally was very choice

I recall when the late Joe Niekro had 5 strikeouts in an inning. But it was a spring training game, I believe. Knuckler was dancing that day.

Could have sworn Billy Wagner would have had one. I know he had several 3 K innings

I saw him come very close.  9th pitch was a foul ball.  10th was a strike out.

Espn says we have 9.

tied with dodgers and yankees for most by one team

edit: how could overlook that household name of Bob Bruce who did it for the Colt .45s April 19, 1964
