Ha. Was literally thinking it was 6 games under and wondering if we could get over by the end of the week and deciding nah, will probably have to be the end of the month best case.

for those scoring at home, the astros are 75-41 with 46 games remaining.

to get to 100 wins, we'd have to go 25-21.  to break our all-time win record (107) we'd have to go 33-13.

if we got to 100 wins, we'd have done it 4x in the past 5 (eligible) seasons.  the 5th year (2021) we only won 95.

the covid season screws things up, but excluding 2020, i would love to see the teams that have put up similar 5 year win totals.

currently, the cumulative record (excluding 2020) is 481-283.  19 more wins to get to 500 over a 5 year span.  that's crazy.  200 games over .500 over 5 years is also crazy.

KEN GILES RP, MLB

According to Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet, the Blue Jays are among the teams showing interest in right-hander Ken Giles.

Giles elected free agency on Sunday after refusing his outright assignment to Triple-A Tacoma. Giles spent two and a half seasons with the Jays from 2018-2020 before signing with the Mariners, so there's already a strong familiarity on both sides there. Expect him to sign somewhere within the next couple of days.

release all the gifs!

yankees + dodgers = 4 hits, 0 runs.

you hate to see it.

We are fucking 7 back of the dodgers in the loss column. It’s absurd how good those pricks are, especially with all their injuries.

zero respect from espn. they showed baseball highlights (no astros), fucking nfl preseason week 1 highlights (no astros), nfl preseason talk (no astros), more reds/yankees talk (no astros) .................

they had a bunch of guys years removed from their prime having bonkers seasons, a middling closer pitching like mo rivera, and a couple starters doing gerrit cole impressions while playing .690 ball.  only the helo's of the world thought, "yeah, this seems about right."

There's always going to lead on Mondays in the summer with their Sunday Night Baseball Game. It's the best historic rivalry in baseball to be sure, but the Sox are in last place in their division. They deserve zero media attention right now.

Yeesh guys. It’s not like a game against the worst team in the league was a compelling matchup. Y’all will be able to quench your thirst for national coverage with this weekend’s series with the Braves.

By my count we have six starting pitchers.  Only four of those will be on the playoff roster, right? Or would we carry a starting pitcher to come out of the bullpen?  Maybe Javier would come out of the pen and Garcia would be the odd man out if the playoffs started today, right?

Posted (edited)

Garcia is odd man out, imo

jv, framber, LMJ (knock on wood), urquidy

javier to the BP. If needed, a Javier / Garcia combo start would be very ok

For sure, no doubt about it. Those guys are all good enough that you want them on the roster.  ALDS the roster should only be 12 pitchers historically.

IMO it will be

Locks:

JV/Framber/LMJ/Javier

Presley/Montero/Neris/Stanek/Urquidy/Garcia/Abreu

Borderline

Lefty specialist:  Smith or Maton (the guy they seem to like best as a righty on lefty guy if Smith can't get unfucked.

I hold out hope that neither of those guys make the post season roster and it's Brown instead after he comes up and shoves it up the leagues ass in September as a multi inning weapon and a power arm/strikeout guy, but don't know if that's got a chance at reality or merely my wishful thinking fever drea.

They should interview Espada asap and offer

WTF?

With regard to the playoff schedule, you can pretty much take it to the bank that our games will be early ones on October 11 & 12, especially if the LAD, NYY and NYM are the other home teams.

They need to fire the GM tying up half a billion on 2 players that play the same position was like Sacramento Kings level stupid.

Correct

very curious to see if drew and melton develop into something. saw a highlight of Justin Dirden, damn he has very good stats.

This is odd considering they are on pace to win what everyone expected, 72 games. Not sure why they think Woodward is the problem here and not sure who could be more successful with that roster.

We wouldn't play the 12th.

13th would only be AL so even if we are early it should be late afternoon

For the 11th...yeah we will be one of the first two games to start

6-24 in 1 run games. Managers do matter.

Peña scratched?  What's wrong with him?  And obviously Dubon has to slot into the leadoff spot.
