astros are being scouted heavily this hime stand

I don’t think teams still use advance scouts in the game planning process. . With so much information readily available, I don’t know what live eyeballs bring to the table.

No they do, especially in post season setting. It’s a piece of the puzzle. They want to know how a guy is going beyond just the numbers.

Doing that against the DBacks in late September feels like opening the full playbook against LA Monroe instead of saving it for the Sooners

why not wait to pull that until the playoffs?

but I guess that’s the point.

Try to get playoff opponents to play you straight up

Not like it's the first time he's laid one down

Huh? They 100% do

You think the computers saw Glasnow tipping when we rocked him a few years ago?

Alvarez ok or he hurt?

He looked ok in his second at bat and they let him run the bases.  He hit a single off of his foot in his first one.

14 pitch at bat for Mancini. Without using the Google machine, what’s the record?

I remember the immortal Ricky Gutierrez having the record at 20 but I just realized how old I am and how that was two and a half decades ago. Still the record?

I’m betting 20

i remember a ridiculous AB in Cleveland by somebody a few years ago

Yep, it was Jose Ramirez vs. Giles. Astros had just put up a 6 spot in the top of the 8th to take the lead off of Bauer.

Ramirez ended up getting a double on pitch 17 and Giles lost his shit and blew the game, he had help, as the Indians scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 9th to tie it.

I remember that game. Almost as bad as the 6 run lead we blew in the 9th with Billy Wagner to Pittsburg.

and that was Game 1 of a DH, and then we blew them out in game 2.

Holy shit what an offense that team had.

Biggio, Lugo, Bagwell, Berkman, Alou, Hidalgo, Vinny Castilla, and Ausmus.

That's how you hide a non-hitting catcher.

ill take hensley over mancini on the playoff roster

You make it act like it’s him or Dubon so… Mancini is an automatic. We are looking at 14 position players in series 1.  There is plenty of room for both on the roster.

Have we ever had five guys with 20 or more HRs in a season?

The greatest Astros team of all time (never to win a World Series— 2019 ) had 7 guys

and pretty sure the first few years at MMP had teams with at least 5 guys

edit: yep, 2000 and 2001 each had 5. Didn’t look any further

real question is if any teams from the Dome did
