What is Kalas smoking?  Or maybe it's me?  I think JV is the favorite for the CY but I don't think it will be unanimous.

Nitpicking here in a meaningless game, but were there good reasons to pull JV after the 5th with only 77 pitches with a no-no going and the chance to do something historic?

More like was there a good reason NOT to? At 77 pitches through 5, he wasn't going to throw a CG. That's regardless of any health issues.
