overnight takes on the leaked schedule:

the US is the only team that kicks off every group match at 10pm local time

because there is zero between-match travel (first time ever in a world cup) FIFA were able to take the teams farthest east on a given day and slot them earlier and the teams farthest west on a given day and slot them later (also a first in a world cup)

although it is supposed to be "not hot" the 10pm kicks *could* be a fitness advantage for the US

Now that Baylor/Texas has officially been moved to Friday after Thanksgiving, I hope to God we get an evening kick time.  I'm not fucking around trying to split time watching that game and USA/ENG at the same time.

Yeah.  I've really got to figure this thing out.  I'm a teacher.  It won't be a prob to take a couple of half days; however, anything more than 2 could be an issue.

No need to take a half day…

”Doctor’s appointments” before your doctor cuts out early for Christmas/New Years, Chanukah/New Years, Diwali/New Years,

Some appointments that NO ONE will call you on:

-Cardiologist

-Blood Clot

-Hemorrhoids

-Root Canal

-Crown came loose

-Kid has a doctor’s appointment

Yeah, that conflict is a major issue for those of us attending the game. Crossing fingers for the evening kickoff.

I suppose the 2:30 kick for UT/Baylor would be manageable. I'd most likely just get to DKR late in that case. You'd think they'd show the soccer game at Bevo Blvd, but that wouldn't really work since they shut down right at kickoff or just before. Maybe watch the soccer at Sholz' and then hoof it over to DKR for the 2nd quarter.

And I read the reason that those bitches would move up into 4th.

Russia & Qatar can host World Cups and hundreds of borderline slaves can die in Qatar building those stadiums, but if a poor kid from a border area grows up playing in the country that he wasn't born in...

FUCK CHILE !

Reading some of the reddit threads

This sounds a lot more Ron McKelvey than A&M Recruiting. Though they do point out that Ecuador might have some small hand in this, and likely didn't do their due diligence.

Peru 🇵🇪 vs 🇦🇺 Australia today at 1:00pm Central Time.

I saw an article where Peru’s coach, or Federation President, or someone was complaining about their having to play Australia in Qatar in June, despite the decision that the World Cup needed to be moved because it is too fucking hot to play soccer ️ in Qatar in June. (He makes a good point.)

Anyway, Peru is going to be miserable, but they got lucky, because a cold front has come through Qatar and it’s actually going to be cooler in Qatar  than in Texas… (ignore the humidity that will likely kill the Peruvians).

You know that is one game we blanked on (because it was the AFC "final") - Australia vs UAE. It was the match-up of 3rd placed teams in each group

Watching the highlights, UAE was dangerous, but Australia got the ones that mattered. The winner is one heck of a strike. @6:30 for the start of the corner.

The final two spots on Qatar are going to be decided today and tomorrow

Today (as @Napoleon noted) is Australia v Peru FS1 or Telemundo

Tomorrow Costa Rica v New Zealand FS2 or Telemundo

Both games are 2 PM Eastern/1 PM Central

I just flipped on the game, it's at the half 0-0. But Australia appears to be making Peru work. 6-2 Australia on shots and possession appears to be even. I am going to have the game on in the background for the 2nd half, I'm curious to see how this goes.

Posted

Around 10' + stoppage to play. Peru has stepped up their attack, and Australia is not getting many shots now. Their attacks are getting pinched off before being dangerous. Peru on the other hand is making Australia work.

2nd Period of overtime. Still 0-0. Peru just had a chance hit the post, and couldn't get the ball in during the ensuing scramble. Just 12+ minutes before PKs settle who's ... staying in Qatar

Posted

Penalties to decide who goes to the World Cup. I can't help but think Australia would absolutely like their chances in this, and Peru, they are going to rue not getting a shots in and only forcing 1 save.
