My MIL got me one for Christmas but I have yet to use it because I haven't smoked anything this year.  She uses one for turkeys, roasts and any other long cooks in the oven. Her stuff comes out perfect so it seems to work well (in an oven roasting situation at least.)

I need to get off my ass and bust out the WSM.

My Weber Genesis has the iGrill bluetooth thermometer probes.  can have 4 going at once.  App based. And I keep my smoker right next to it so I can use it for that too.

Pretty sure @brown water uses them in the XXX pron he so kindly shares with The Surl in the Steak thread... perhaps he can share some insights.

I do and am a big fan. Find it better for longer cooks or multiple meats. No necessarily smoking (for which it’s great too) but also a larger cuts like picanha or a tomahawk. For individual steaks the thermapen is my go to.  App is helpful and easy to use. Only complaint is the range between the base and probes is a bit limited.

There is a temperature limit above which you risk damaging the probes. Usually solve by searing (before or after) with the probe removed. .

Below is a picanha from a few months back.

Yeah, was thinking about using it on steaks right now for perfect temp

I have one and used it to reverse sear some thick steaks not too long ago and it worked great.

I have the external iGrill super happy with it (not integrated with the Genesis).

This meater looks cool, but I've gotten way too many thermometers now (Thermapen + a William Sonoma one too), I don't need anymore.

I use a Fireboard for monitoring long cooks and a Thermapen for steaks and burgers.  I would probably only use it on the rotisserie.  I tried to buy one at Academy after Christmas with gift cards but they were out at the time - I might check again.

just got one of the plus units for father's day.  Seems like really the only precaution is to make sure you push the probe in past the line to insure the interior thermometer doesn't get ruined by high heat past it's 225 temp cap.

I was telling the wife that would pair well when we occasionally use our ovens "sabbath mode" to remote start some hunk of meat around the holidays when we are running errands.  Simply to warm me to start heading back to the house if it's cooking too quickly, for example.  I would also like to see the stall on my briskets as a graph after the fact.

Anyhow bumped this to see what the opinions are two years later?

Back in May, I saw the Combustion Inc. thermometer on sale the other day and was ready to pull the trigger.  Only to find out there are two other similar thermometers on the market now - Meater 2 plus and Thypur Sync.  Watched a handy review video and decided to get the Thypur.  The Thypur was $159 on their website, plus a 10% discount for giving them my email address.  Thypur recently came out with a 4 probe unit.

Here is my first cook:

Pork tenderloins seared on the stove then finished in the oven.  It was nice not having to open the oven and temp prob along the way.

Anyone on the fence with the combustion, dont buy at msrp. Sign up for their mailing list because theyve been running sales almost nonstop this year

I like my MEATER+.  I’ve had it a few years.  I used it last month and it would not connect to my phone or the base unit.  The batteries were dead  Be sure to replace them every year or so and then check them before doing a long roast or smoke.  I replaced them but it takes a while to recharge the battery in the probe.
