God damnit I hoped it would finally go away but we're gonna keep debating the fate of peons aren't we?

There is nothing to debate regarding our fate in the realignment musical chairs debate since we now know where we are going. There is a thread for pods and scheduling so what is left but to discuss other than peons?

Maybe we should create some sort of Baylor deathwatch bingo ?

I'm ok with Cal being left to form a chess and quidditch league with Caltech and Cal Poly.

isnt Cal Texas's primary competition for the Quidditch national championship every year?  It wouldn't surprise me.  Couple years ago I used to play soccer at Clark periodically and the Quidditch dorks would be out there running around with broomsticks between their legs.  smh

All the Oklahoma State and Texas Tech talk got me thinking - let's say it's headed toward a 64-team top division for college football. Without giving any consideration to current affiliations, which 64 schools do you think deserve to be in that group of 64? You can do it based on revenue, eyeballs, historical strength, whatever you want. But try to keep it realistic.

Here's my 64 broken up only by how I got there, no other order in particular. Don't forget this is football only at least for me, and I basically used a combination of school-generated revenue (i.e., removed conference payouts) and average team strength since 1992 when 85 scholarships became the rule.

Did it kind of fast so may be mistakes, duplicates, bad math, etc. But the bottom line is actually doing the exercise makes it seem really absurd that Oklahoma and Texas Tech might get left out of the final 64.

I think that is true to you and I but I'm not sure if true to Pac-12 watchers. I'm not sure most West Coast football fans are very aware of Oklahoma State's football ability.

Also, the Pac-12 start times are obscenely late. I feel like the UT game at Cal ended after midnight California time. Look at all these late ass kickoff times.

2021 Pac-12 Football early television schedule announced | Pac-12

How does it work to merge a conference that puts its marquee games on at 9AM PDT with a conference that likes to kickoff big games at 10:30 CDT? Can't put 'em in the middle of the day because that's when our conference plays.

I am up for any realignment that results in the death of these stupidly late kickoff times.

Well looks like the big 12 has moved on without us.  No turning back now3AB4B5BB-C750-442F-9C1C-597B58A5763D.jpeg.04418fe32ec15a3b2060a146f0ab7b0c.jpeg

Not the same thing, for many reasons, including the name:

"Red River Shootout" is the subheading of Texas-Mobilhoma, which fittingly matches the goings-on in the neighborhood in which it is played.

Iowa on there twice, so you're short one

And as the former ESPN President said, basketball bluebloods are important-KU, UK, UNC, Duke and Indiana are in, although Duke could be arguable as bad as they are and as little fan support as they have.  Kentucky actually is usually top 25 in attendance and has more recent SEC titles than the Mississippi schools.

Kansas to the Big 10 would raise the obvious question of who else? I know they rolled with 11 for a long time, but 15 would be weird. Unless the Penn State to the ACC rumors are real, you'd think there would be rumors about the other addition if this was real.

Who else does the B1G take besides KU? This is getting good, if true.

I'd laugh if B1G took Notre Dame after all of the flirtation and travishmockery with the the ACC.

Doubtful

ND chose the ACC in the first place bc the B1G wanted them as full members and most of their alumni are on the east coast. ACC bent over for them.

Paging Mr. Phlem...Mr. Phlem to the white courtesy phone.  It has never been the Red River Shootout/Showdown, etc.  That name was manufactured by the TV networks to try to hype a game that needs no additional hype.  It is the Texas/OU game.  That name says it all.

There is some serious game ball diameter differences in these two images. can one of the experts explain why UT plays with a dodge ball and LSU uses a deflated volley ball?

one's a quaffle, the other's a bludger.
