The preseason comment I took more as optimism that he thought he’d have a breakout year and get drafted.

He said he had battled through a lot of injuries in his career, which had taken its toll mentally. He said he was in a good place heading into this year, had done a lot of work to get his body in a place where he felt good and it would be his last year no matter what.

I saw a recent interview or article where it mentioned Marion has rejuvenated his love for the game. Will be interesting to see if he sticks to his plan or changes.

They feel good about one safety, one DE, and one WR. Those 3 are viewed as happening. They absolutely want starting quality talent at LB, DT, DE, and Safety beyond what they have on the roster and on top of the guys they've received word from who are coming.

Don't expect much of anything on the 2023 recruiting front after SD1. A few big things could happen between now and SD1 that involve a lot of activity for UT, but there is also already a ton of focus and scouting associated to the portal.

As I've said before, and will more confidently than ever, NIL will not be a reason Texas doesn't land someone in the portal. That doesn't include someone else's idiocy of offering some guy $4million or something, but in terms of non-outliers, should those exist, we're good.

Are there going to be any good defensive coordinators in the portal?

Yeah but what if we offered Vince young 11 million to come back 😂

Looks like he played in 5 career games in 3 seasons and was buried pretty deep on the depth chart.

recruited from img. played in 1 game and redshirted. got injured early the next season and saw little action. then got buried on the depth chart.

Do you feel moving forward that Texas will use the 1st signing day for their HS class, while the 2nd signing day will be more focused on the portal?

That would be a nice start. I think our biggest needs are 1 edge (in Ovie's spot), 1 WR, 2-3 LBs (depending on if Ford returns), and 1 S (assuming Cook leaves). Then depth at DT and other positions.

@RGBIII @closetojumping I know you guys have mentioned about a real good Safety portaling here and IDK if you guys can say much, but is this something expected to happen pretty quick after Dec. 1st when portal season kicks off?

I would expect things to be fast and furious when the portal opens.

I’m going wish for JSN and AM and hope my hand doesn’t fill up with shit first.  I can’t imagine the aggy legacy would come here unless maybe he’s buds with Quinn.

I can certainly agree that this is the English language, but I'm not sure I understand a whole lot of it.

JSN is Ngiba? I assume he's headed to the NFL irrespective of how injuries held him back this year. The rest is beyond my reach.

So, this means I’m guessing the wrong players.  The WR is not coming from Ohio State and the S is not coming from Clemson.  Interesting.
