Some people already bristle that the kicker and punter are on scholarship. This portal transfer may require nil money, depending on how needy teams are.

I bristle not over the scholarship rather over the fact that we had, at one time, a punter, kicker and Longsnapper all on scholarship and none of them starting.
I fully support NiL for top level specialists.  They win games for sure.

Maybe I’m out of the loop but I also was unaware that Jake talked bad about the program. Just seemed like he didn’t like Herman and didn’t want to be here. He’s a better player than some of the bread on our roster right now. Or at least he was at one point.

Smith didn’t say anything about the program as far as I know. The dipshit you guys are responding to shows up on this board every few days to throw out a bunch of words that rarely make any sense as they’re strung together. Completely ignorable.

St. Louis took over the long snapping by the end of the year.

It probably helps that nil money, in theory anyway, isn’t a finite resource like scholarships are.

i guess to that end, nil could make scholarships and especially their limit, irrelevant.

He talked shit on a podcast, but it was forgettable much like his career.  I guess he’ll be going pro in something other than sports.

IMO a must offer...only a sophomore handles holding duty for field goals, does kickoff duty, and is a top 10 punter in the country. Probably the best S/T player to enter so far.  Will free up the Stone scholarship since he's not a backup to Auburn and he takes over the backup punter we currently have scholarship.

Small dick energy.  Do not want.

Bobby Burton: Notes on Steve Sarkisian's travels, transfer portal strategy, and more

Quote

Just what I’m told… Steve Sarkisian was in Hawaii yesterday and was headed to LA next. Sark talked with Hawaii linebacker pledge Liona Lefau and is expected to meet with Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco receiver DeAndre Moore next. It’s a whirlwind next few days for the Texas coach. And the week has already been a blur. As Gerry Hamilton reported, one of the very first stops for Sark was to meet with Daniel Cruz, the 2024 OL/DL out of Richland up in Metroplex, earlier this week. So not only is Sark focused on finishing out the 2023 class, but he’s also trying to get a head start on the 2024 one, as well as recruiting the portal.

**

Speaking of the portal, Texas is being judicious at this time. I’m told the staff would rather be right than waste bullets on players that might not fit. And when I say “fit”, it’s not just athletically. They want guys who are outstanding athletes and who add to the culture. Texas is very happy with where team culture is currently, and they want to maintain and grow it. And to accomplish that, they also have to protect it to a certain degree.

**

How many portal players total will Texas take? There is no clearly defined answer. Again, Texas is not going to reach. At the same time, they’re not going to forego a chance to improve the roster or fortify a position. Texas is still just one deep and inexperienced at too many spots to do so.

**

Today marks 48 hours since the opening of the portal. I’ve heard that some schools have deliberately held back the portal entries of some players in an attempt for NIL reps to negotiate with players beforehand. That would be unsurprising. Additionally, I expect more and more names to become available over Christmas break and after bowl games. Some players are waiting until the fall semester is over and can return and speak with their families about their decisions before making a potential move. Some will play in bowl games and then still be able to enter and move on for spring semester.

The thing about the portal is, it’s a living thing. It changes and evolves quickly. It’s possible that, of the 6 or so portal signees we expect Texas to eventually land, not even half of them are even in the portal yet.

**

If Tyrese Hunter hits the front end of the one-and-one in the waning seconds of last night’s game against Illinois, Texas basketball would have beaten the Illini and remained undefeated. It’s a tough loss, especially because Texas dominated much of the second half with superior athleticism only to be overcome by a team that executed better on offense in crunch time and was nails at the charity stripe late.

Was Carrington particularly successful as a recruiter at TCU? I don't follow TCU recruiting close enough to know who they closed because of him. It's one thing to sell the Texas Longhorns. It's gonna be a lot harder to sell Arizona State to kids that care more "as much" about football as:

Pin on Sundevils

Judging by the resolution on this pic, these girls have to be pushing 40 years of age by now.

You know, I actually did a quick search for a higher-res photo but couldn't find one easily and didn't feel like digging past "hot Arizona State chicks". And yeah, I bet all those chicks are over 40. That pic's been circulating for way more than a decade. That shit was probably on Hornfans before Katie went nuclear on NSAA.

So are we gonna cut loose the Aussie punter? Guess the Prokick pipeline isn't as foolproof as we all thought.

It would surprise me if he didn't get another shot this season, but who knows.

I'd like to be clear, NIL money is in fact a finite resource.

Any more news here ??  Saw a portal video yesterday that mentioned suckeyes are possibly a favorite for Fentrell...

In light of your posting behavior, have you considered trying actually READING the threads for updates, since you clearly haven't been doing that previously. Fuck.

This has 2008 and taken with a Blackberry all over it. 2005-2009 college me approves.

I’d like to think that the intent to say that there’s no hard cap for nil as there is for scholarships is evident in my post.

Jesus, y’all are a bunch of olds as it appears you’re incapable of posting photos of hot women that weren’t taken at least 15 years ago.

But these women are the moms of our Arizona recruits right now. So it’s relevant.
