Going to NOLA next week and it's supposed to be 68 and sunny with overnight lows in the 50's.

Will be hilarious to hear the locals recount their brush with winter.

I'm sure Louisiana's notoriously competent and well-funded public services are totally ready for this.

It’s going to melt in 2 days

-17 at my house.  All the schools around here are closed for the day. My dogs are not happy.  The one who usually spends 30 minutes outside to start the day was like "nah, I'm good."

You win! It's only -9 down here.

Yeah, I had -3 but it's now warmed up to a balmy 6

I'm back in Winchester. Nothing like that here. We bottomed out around 2-3. And we're in the teens now. Even Vermont was higher than that. Looking at the overnight graphs, it appears the low was -6.

Surprised the gov didn’t swing the hammer and call school for the entire state. We were on time, a lot near by went 2 hrs late which no clue what that was gonna solve… the entire state is under extreme cold warning

I don't hate that it's district by district, I just don't understand why any of them wouldn't pull the plug today.  Unless you're like some private schools in which 95% of the kids get dropped off at the door by their parents, it really just doesn't make sense.  Hell, the private school my kids go to fits that description and even we got canceled.

In your face Anchorage

I was always surprised as a kid at how often I'd see some national weather report and we were colder than Anchorage in the winter.  Back before I knew about the effects of being on the ocean.

This was Boston after the weekend - we had a nice snow come through on Saturday night - woke up to this.

Today - SSSSSSSSSSUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKEEEEEEEDDDDDD

About an inch of snow, then followed by rain - everything is covered with that GD heart attack snow.

... I know in the NE you guys get really wet heavy snow, and those noreasters can dump a metric fuck ton of it...

This shit. Hope the temps come up enough to melt a lot of it, though I am not holding my breath today for this.

That seems brisk.

1 -- it looks a shitload like the forecast and actual weather when I visited my daughter in Montreal in February when she was in college.

2 -- when I voiced my concern about it being negative eleventy billion degrees, she said exactly what Al said -- "it's fine if it's not windy."

Fortunately, it wasn't windy.  It was fine.  Just dress for it.

15-20 MPH here - nothing crazy by our standards.  But we're supposed to get a few inches of fluffy snow, so it might be a bit of a headache.  I'm sure I'll have to go move snow at the farm in the AM.

Hey now, I grew up cleaning out open-fronted unheated hog barns with an open cab Bobcat 863 that had the roof sawed off to fit inside the barn.

Exactly the same except it was a Farmall A with Cub Cadet rims so it would fit under the overhang.

Good looking 'hood, Cap.

Thanks! When we moved from Arlington, we had a checklist of things we wanted. One of them was a nice neighborhood w/ a decent sized yard. Winchester fit that bill. We really like it here.

In Montana it's currently -6* feels worse with a steady breeze of fuck that I'm not going outside unless I have too, and it takes the truck 2 rounds of remote start to actually get warm.

Thank goodness for my two hookers that keep me company.

We've been gusty the last two days. highs in the mid 20s, but windchill is likely single digits. Hopefully returns to normal tomorrow.

I'll let you all know what Vermont looks like when we go up this weekend.

Bob…..White!

I have 2 coveys. One in the front acre. One in the back. Both get fed every day. Hope they make it through the next couple of days. Supposed to be -10 in the morning. Windchills around -25. Should be fun.
