Les to KU recruiting wise makes a lot of sense.  He knows the state of Lousyanna, and there are tons of mid level 2* and 3* players there that would easily be 4* standouts in KS.  He should be able to pull 10 3* from KS every year.  5 per class, in state OL that can be built into monsters through SC to start stepping in late soph/early junior redshirt seasons, buid a local pipeline and then 5 more skill players from around the state.  Kids here would go to KU to play for a known coach like Miles.  Kansas City area is booming with athletes, Wichita is having issues keeping up with the competition level because more KC schools are playing at higher levels, but there is still a handful of athletes that come out of the WCL every year that go D-1.

12-15 kids / year from Wichita, Salina, KC area, 5-8 from Mizery, Iowa, Nebraska leftovers, 5 skill from LA.  Boom, easy peasy.

Les could pull in 4-8 xfers / yr. with the new xfer rules as well.  He can definitely promise early playing time.

I agree with this almost 100%.  We have a guy on staff who is a great recruiter and he has raided Louisiana since O has apparently ruined some recruiting ties.  Tony Hull brought in Pooka and a 4* CB and had a 3* lineman and two 4* WRs committed in the spring.  That is with a dead man walking as coach and not a live wire like Les who is also a legend in LA at this point.  Further, KU has skimped on texas recruiting.  Mangino was great in getting the texas guys with a chip on their shoulder.  We could feasibly have 50% or more of our recruiting come from TX and LA.  Then depending on MU's trajectory and KSU's next hire we could easily pluck the best kids from KS and MO.  That's a full class and that could build a talented roster that can easily win 3 noncons and capable of taking down tech, KSU, Baylor, and ISU.  Then if we are competitive with two of WVU, OSU, or TCU in any given year we are cooking with gas.  That calculus has us winning between 6 and 9 wins a year and that is just fine, even if the 9 win game is once every 5 years.

It can be done, we just need a full commitment from the coahces, admin, boosters, and fans.  I don't know one coach that could unite all of those groups more than Les Miles.  Especially at this point, if we hired an OC or small school guy at least one of those groups would be underwhelmed and that won't be a good thing.

Les Miles as Lee Corso replacement possibility??

https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2018/11/16/18098117/les-miles-lsu-buyout-kansas-coaching-rumors

There’s another theory here as well:

The other thought is that Les Miles is really taking his future in films and TV seriously as his next career move. Part of the buyout stipulated that Miles had to be “actively searching” for a new coaching job to continue to receive his buyout.

Miles’ agent has certainly earned his keep, with Miles’ name showing up on just about every job search list the last 2 years, however briefly, giving him the appearance of at least looking for new jobs. But Les has also been working in films, his podcast empire with his daughter, and multiple one-off appearances on college football media shows on ESPN and FOX networks.

If Les is heading for a permanent role on TV, such as the long rumored/fan dream of him replacing a retiring Lee Corso on College Gameday, it’s tough for him to then turn around and convince LSU that he’s still “actively looking” for a new coaching job.

This on Gameday.... haha 🤣

Les Miles without TBoone's moolah or LSU's talent.
Should turn out good, right?

You have not heard of David Booth apparently

Pickens is the rough equivalent of Cliff Illig for KU. Who’s 1/5 as rich as David Booth and 1/10 as rich as Phil Anschutz. If and when KU money gets serious about football, they ain’t getting out spent by Boone fucking Pickens.

Every time I get mad at the Big XII, it pulls me back in!

Agree..... If Iowa State hangs on to Matt Campbell for a few more years, and Bret Bielema ends up at KState it could get even more interesting.......

Now all we need is for to Texas Tech to swallow their pride and hire Mike Leach back and this conference will really be interesting.

Why would he go back?

Funny would be Leach going to Auburn and tormenting the SEC with Saban retiring to leave Bama vulnerable to his attacks.

Now that would be the next best option, really any SEC team that has the capability to compete at a high level would be hilarious. He is 2-3 against the SEC as a HC. Would love to see that conference defend his offense with premier athletes, it would drive Saban nuts.

I don't understand why Auburn hasn't made a run at him, him and Auburn are a match made in heaven.

Bielema isn’t leaving the Patriots to coach at KSU.

Get the biggest 350+ uncoordinated linemen and TEs no one picked up to fall forward with one of their b-ball centers under center to lean for 3 yards and a cloud of dust every down.
