Vote before 5/24 if you haven't already done your mail ballot. It is too late to ask for an application by mail. Must vote in the same primary as you did before. If you did not vote in the primary, you can participate in either primary runoff.

Ballot by Mail Tracker: https://teamrv-mvp.sos.texas.gov/BallotTrackerApp/#/login

Where do I vote-  https://teamrv-mvp.sos.texas.gov/MVP/mvp.do

What are you watching?

What I'm watching

- Republican AG race Duh

- South Texas - Will progressive or conservative Dem win in TX-28, TX-15, TX SD-27 (LaMantia has Lucio endorsement after retiring, also I just personally know a ton of her family), and TX HD-37 (Villareal was Lucio Jr aide)

- TX SD 24 between Pete Flores and Raul Reyes

- Will competitive Democratic runoffs in South Texas push Hispanic candidates over the edge in Dem statewide races for AG, Land Commissioner, and Comptroller

- Does Jasmine Crockett complete the one and done in Dallas area from state house to US House

- Will Sarah Stogner lead more candidates to ride pumpjacks? Wayne Christian should not ride a pumpjack

- Austin area folks check in for Ellen Troxclair v Justin Berry

Lulz.  Houston Chronicle's ringing endorsement for George P Bush:

At least they didn't call him a sniveling pussy, which he is.  Still held my nose and voted for him.

They're going to Save Our Children and Schools?  You mean, like no assault rifles?

I'm not convinced that's Stogner in the photo.  Seems a bit cropped at the bottom.

2.69% of registered voters have participated in the Republican primary - 465,880 with 73,819 using mail

1.68% of registered voters have participated in the Democratic primary - 291,718 with 84,616 using mail

Patrick Svitek, Scott Braddock, TX Election Source are all good gameday follows on twitter.

Harris Co elections tweeted this graphic

The South Texas numbers still show participation at 67%-33% D/R (from the map I posted earlier). If you take out Bexar Co., it's 75/25 D/R

Starting in 2010 or so I told myself I will never vote republican, all that absurd Tea Party crap turned me off for good.  But shit I’d vote for her if those factoids on her stances are correct…regulate oil/gas after snowpocalypse, stay out of women’s uterus, fuck the NRA, etc.

She’s a cunt. It’ll be cool when she retires, but obviously that won’t change anything on its own.

I think she's a fucking vampire and will be around another couple hundred years easy.

Went for Garza in the Democratic AG runoff. Would be fine with Jaworski, both are good candidates. Went Collier for LtG, I’d rather give him a shot at running it back when his opponent is nothing special. Expect Dems to go 0-for statewide, but still better than sitting through the trash in a Republican primary.

Skipped the Chip Wells vs Teresa Waldrop race in Houston. I read up on the incident with Wells going off on Waldrop at trial, wild story, completely unprofessional and unacceptable. But Waldrop touts an endorsement from the police union, can’t bring myself to vote for that given they also endorse the likes of Abbott, Paxton, etc; and that police unions are just evil.

What does abortion or CRT stances have to do with running the RRC?

About as much as all the people running for local offices who talk about securing the border and fighting Biden's liberal commie socialist agenda.

Nothing.  A friend ran for court of appeals judge several years ago, and he told me about some of the fucked up questions he got on the campaign trail.  One guy in rural Central Texas asked him about his position on Israel.  He gave him a fluff answer, but wanted to say, "Dumbass, you know I'm never going to have a case before me involving the conflict between Palestine and Israel, don't you?"

Chances that Harris County will be slow to report are high, possibly into Wednesday

https://www.texastribune.org/2022/05/24/voting-harris-county-delays/

The county is known for its lengthy election night vigils — a product, in part, of its large geographical footprint. Because Texas law forbids voting results from being transmitted electronically, counts must be driven from hundreds of polling places to a central counting center at the end of the night

And I imagine there will be a lot of long lines still at 7 trying to vote, and those precincts have to allow everyone in line by 7 the right to vote.  So those extra hours will delay things before even the trek to the central count office.

And when you add that some precincts will continue to have problems with the new voting machines, some voters could be voting much later.

yeah, i was confused that Biden's name was not on the primary ballot.  I just assumed with all the ads that each R candidate was running directly against Biden.

Alright, SOS site is taking it's sweet time with Nueces county (Corpus Christi) but that won't stop me from sunshine pumping. I am fully aware of lackluster statewide participation in primary season, and even smaller runoff rates. I am fully aware of open primaries. But they are still data points and I haven't been kicked off the site yet for forcefully attempting to change the narrative on engagement.

wildlife district 8 map

This part of Texas participated 58D/42R in the primary. In the runoff, participation was 64D/36R.

Removing Bexar Co., participation was 63D/37R in the primary. In the runoff, participation was 71D/29R.

Counties of Note

Cameron = 70/30 Primary, 79/21 Runoff (56/43 in 2020 GE)

Hidalgo= 76/24 Primary, 80/20 Runoff (58/41 in 2020 GE)

Starr= 84/16 Primary, 93/7 Runoff (52/47 in 2020 GE)

Zapata= 98/2 Primary, 97/3 Runoff (47/53 in 2020 GE for Trump) - the only flip on the southern border of the state from 2020. Much lower population than the other counties I noted here. 700+ more people participated in the 2022 primary for Democrats than actually showed up for the 2020 general election for Biden. Along with Starr Co. it kickstarted national and statewide stories about the surge of Hispanic support for Trump, or whether it's a Joe Biden issue for not visiting, or having a national strategy for Hispanic GOTV that didn't reflect Tejanos (finished with a higher % of Hispanic vote nationally than Hillary, but did much much more shitty in Texas), or old timey bullshit about Trump having machismo, or Biden focusing on shoring up Midwestern whites and black enclaves etc......

Webb= 87/13 Primary, 91/9 Runoff (61/38 in 2020 GE)

Maverick= 95/5 Primary, 88/12 Runoff (54/45 in 2020 GE)
