I"m trying to connect two monitors to my desktop. One monitor via HDMI is fine. However, I only have DVI and DisplayPort ports for the second monitor. I tried to use a DisplayPort to USB-C adapter to connect to a monitor with a USB-C input port, but my Windows 11 HP desktop doesn't see the second monitor. I've tried everything and am stuck.

Likely the cable you are using is one way, in the opposite direction you are trying to use it in (can only be used with USB-C at the video source and not output).

Does the monitor have anything else as input other than USB-C?

Does the 2nd monitor have HDMI?  DVI or DP to that will work.  USB-C is a superset of DisplayPort that does other stuff, so it's picky about conversion...but to HDMI is easy.

might want to tell us what monitors you have and maybe a link to the computer, though that's less necessary.

edit: might need a different cable:

All of you were correct. The cable was one way. Description was mislabeled. Once I went to a DisplayPort to HDMI it worked. Thanks for the help.
