Luthen’s terrifying cabal of lesbian rebels

I don't think Kleya is a lesbian. At least I hope not after the scenes where she was in the red, and those f-me boots.

Alright…I may or may not be halfway into Ep. 3 after starting a rewatch. The look on Syril’s face when Dedra talks about being raised in an Imperial Kinderblock ?? I think he just came in his pants.

I'm pretty surprised with how adult this show is. Bix is getting a real rough go of things between the torture and now the attempted rape - which was not a word I was expecting to hear in Star Wars. I was surprised to see the locals sell them out so early too, the writers are really striking a chord with current events considering the whole storm troopers sweeping for undocumented people thing is happening in 2025 and 4 BBY

They're really doing the damn thing, huh? Hold onto your fuckin hats everyone. They're dishing some top tier nerd lore dumps and some serious television

Did they actually sell them out or was Brasso making a show of saying that to protect the guy sheltering them? I was a few drinks into the binge at that point

Yeah I read that as Brasso trying to save the locals asses by acting like the locals sold them out to the Empire. Though Cassian blowing up the squad means everyone is f'ed now.

Dedra is Syril's mommy now.

Vel realizing Cinta loves the killing more than her.

The Ghorman shit is going to be rough.

Funny that people forget that Star Wars had sex slaves at Jabba's palace. Slave Girl Leia ring a bell? Why wouldn't an Imperial drunk on power think he can rape an "illegal"? I'm just glad Cassian killed every single one of them. I hope Bix finds the good Doctor and settles that score.

The tension episode 3 brought was so got damn good. Every time Mothma and Luthen are together it’s a master class of acting. They are great together.

It was a little sad seeing the contrasting viewpoints of death for Mothma and Cassian. Mothma is on the more political side of things and hearing Luthen subtly tell her what is about to happen with Tal didn’t keep her from continuing on with the party. She just drank more to try and ease the pain away. Cassian is boots on the ground, trying to save Brasso and friends. He has to run up to a lifeless bodie, not imagine it. Both are important and active in the rebellion but experience the cost you must pay in different forms.

On your last point, watching people like Star Wars theory cry like a little baby with the blunt SA scene is so immature and dumb. He and fans like him are such dweebs that need to grow up and stop being hypocritical grifters.

The soulless sterile decor of the apartment of a presumably well paid high ranking imperial was a nice touch

That reminded me of the apartments I've seen in China for the typical middle class vs my friend who married a high ranking official.

The size difference, not the decor.

I just figure the... lovely? young couple hasn't spent much time decorating

Just wanted to echo what a great cast and vision does for a program. Luthen’s switch from salesman and his fake singular laugh to his more menacing tone is really fun to watch, and his remark to Mon about her naivety was well written and delivered. His character really isn’t seeing himself surviving this, consistent with his speech from last season, and you can see how he is setting up Mon for her eventual role.

I am not sure I would call the guy a grifter.  But he definitely has political leanings similar to someone like Critical Drinker, and he has had some good material including the guy who wrote a trilogy for Kenobi.  He has a point that Lucas did shy away from overt expressions of brutality and a veneer of civility, but he may have fallen into a bit of tautology on claiming Vader wouldn't tolerate certain things, but this isn't Vader's Empire, it is Palp's.

Call it what it is. Attempted Rape. Good that Bix was able to kill the guy.

Rape is something that needs to be addressed clearly and bluntly. Sentence the perp and chemically sterilize him for the duration of the sentence. The shame of being raped is even more of an issue. So many women don't report being raped, and society sometimes victim-blames the woman for wearing revealing stuff.

I heard some stat that 1/3 of women in America are sexually assaulted. That's fucked up. As a dad of a soon-to-be teeanage girl, I worry about her future and would put the fear of God on anyone who touches her.

Overlaying Bix's attempted rape with Mothma drunk and partying was just

Xavier Rhodes Kiss GIF by Indianapolis Colts

Showing that a fascist government will often times take advantage of the undocumented, especially women, under the guise of "helping them...."

I love this show more and more for pulling the mask off current times.

On the surface, Mon was just getting drunk and partying but under it all she's grieving her friend. Luthen all but told her he was going to die, and she would not have a chance to say goodbye to him.

Mon feels like she put her friend into this position, and now he's going to die because he's not a True Believer in the rebellion. She's doing everything she can just to keep up appearances, and since being a drunk mom at a Chandrilan wedding is apparently a thing it's the easiest outlet for Mon

Oh, 100%

It was just the dichotomy of two women, both experiencing hardships, and how they have to cope with them/handle them, based on their status/class

spoiler question if you havent seen ep 3 yet.

Spoiler

I did not see B2 on the TIE Avenger when Cassian was taking Bix and Wil off the planet.... did they leave B2 back at the camp? or was I just drunk and missed him being on the TIE?

Of course he is. Mon pretty much understands that when she does the double I'm sorry to Leida. That said, Leida's a brat so her being in a loveless marriage that she sought out is kind of her just rewards for rebelling against her mother and choosing the traditions of Chandrila.

Wasn't this filmed 1-2 years ago?

Gilroy said it wasn't intentional and that he wasn't writing with a newspaper. He was trying to be timeless and based some of it on stories of pre-WW2 Paris when people started having to leave parts of Europe due to persecution by the Nazis and use shadow documents to work and survive. The strike held up the show and it was supposed to come out before Skeleton Crew.

Gilroy was on The Watch yesterday.

It's almost like the same playbook is being used by two contemporary groups, without each other's knowledge, for different purposes.

Spoiler

I will spoiler it but it’s not really a spoiler to say every one of these arcs ends with a Ferrix denizen dying. Cassian didn’t tell Jyn Erso “you’re not the only one who lost everything” for shits and giggles

Yes, I'm going to assume the only people left leading up to Rogue One, besides the obvious characters that are in the movie, are Syril and Dedra. Though I bet both get "promoted" to the Death Star

He is now, but hasn’t always been. There have been multiple instances of him wanting exactly what Andor is giving; a gritty and brutal adult depiction of the empire. And now he wants to complain about the SA scene and use Vader, the guy who choked his pregnant wife and massacred younglings, as an example of why it is wrong to portray such a thing. The empire is inherently evil, which means it is going to have evil people doing evil things. Vader might not be raping rebels, but he sure doesn’t mind torturing or choking people to death.
The guy is constantly contradicting himself in an effort to pander to his smooth brain followers.

It's a lot easier to ragebait for clicks than to sit back and absorb the show. So many would be better served by never watching that stuff. I even find myself no longer watching things like Screen Crush and he's usually pretty glowing with stuff. The YouTube breakdown industrial complex can't die soon enough.

I find myself only watching the creator “Star Wars Explained“ but only his Easter egg and lore videos. He was dropping a ton of knowledge on the ancient artifacts inside Luthen’s shop.

This, 100%.

I don't need anyone else to tell me what to think about a show. I can form my own opinions, thanks.

So much of people's opinions on shows seem to have nothing to do with what's actually on the screen. A bunch of people are coming back and watching Solo and wondering why "everyone" hated it; well, if you ask people who actually bothered to watch it, most of them thought the movie was a pretty fun time. It's almost as if Ron Howard knows how to direct or something. :) The "hate" was all a bunch of dipshits who heard stupid things online and decided that it must be terrible without ever bothering to put their eyes in front of it for 90 minutes.

I don’t know. I tried to watch Solo but couldn’t really get into it.  Maybe I need to try again.

It isn't *great*. It's a dumb fun action/caper/fanservice film. But it IS pretty fun and, for a number of reasons, easy to look at.
