The only pitcher I'm surprised with is Harrison.

He was our most reliable bullpen pitcher and he's pitched 0.2 innings in the regional and super. Pierce was saving Harrison for the later games in the regional and they didn't need him. I'm not sure why he didn't get more innings against ECU.

Harrison did struggle some against ECU on Saturday but he should be very fresh.

He needs to win convincingly

Personally if our average margin of victory isn't over 4 runs during this title run then I'd like to see who else is out there.

Luke hasn't been good. Not complicated at all.

I’m sure we’ll see him at some point. Shit, maybe he does what Witt did from the pen last year. It’s Texas in Omaha. Home of unsung heroes

I don't agree with that. Harrison has been the most consistent bullpen pitcher all year and he's a lefty which we don't have many of.

I think Pierce knows he doesn't have many lefties in the bullpen so he's saving Harrison for situations late in games where he can go lefty against lefty. I would prefer if Harrison gets normal innings vs situational spots against hitters.

But after Southard it's tough to question what Pierce and Allen are doing.

The 3rd game is the only one you can lose that doesn't put you at a disadvantage to your competition.

But it means you can't lose the next game.

On the whole Luke has been good this season but he definitely hasn’t finished as strong as you would have hoped. I wouldn’t be shocked if he gave us good innings for the CWS tho.

Who on the staff has regressed a ton from last season outside of Nixon? Stevens I guess but he’s been very reliable out of the pen and then what he did in game 3. All the growing pains we saw from this staff early on seem to be paying off now for the most part.

I'm talking about his recent form. I've been here all year.

It isn't. Call me a hardass, but Pierce has to win both the '22 and '23 titles this year to convince me he's the guy. Anything less and the program is just treading water.

As far as I'm concerned, he's still in the doghouse for not winning it all in '20.

I’d say Hansen, Stevens and Nixon have all had significantly worse seasons. Quintanilla, Madden and Witt are not actively playing. Who else really pitched last year?

It’s a little odd Stehle keeps getting all these chances. He’s good or crappy. Stevens is kinda the same out of the pen.

The only times we gave up more runs in back to back games than this weekend were against Air Force and OSU. I think we’re pretty much what we’ve been. Pretty solid with some implosion.

I generally think more highly of the pitching staff than most. Pierce has done a very poor job in certain cases. He did make the right call on Stevens the other night. I’d be interested to know why he and Stehle even seem to have longer leashes than others. That’s a weakness and a strength of Pierce. Awfully loyal to some but not others.

No idea what to expect in Omaha.

If David Pierce doesn't win his bracket 3-0 he needs to be fired...and he can take Sean Allen with him.

Oh Jesus save us the Surly branded hand-wringing. This team has been through a steaming pile of shit this season and fights like a motherfucker. I really like where we're at heading in. All but a few teams in the country probably lose that Super in Carolina.

I like this squad just as much if not more than last year's and I'd expect similar results if not better. We know what we have. Time for someone else to step up and come beat us when it matters.

We’re gonna beat notre dame 7-1 off a Hansen gem with Stevens getting the last 6 outs. Ou will take of aggy. We beat ou 4-1 with Gordon going 8 strong and Stevens closing it out. Notre Dame eliminates aggy. Ou beats notre dame  we take care of ou 6-1 after getting out to a 3-0 lead with an Ivan bomb. Morehouse, Olivarez, Harrison and Stevens to close it out. On to the finals

The bracket this year is  more favorable. Last year Texas had the #3 and #7 seeds on their side of the bracket. There isn't a team better than Mississippi State or Tennessee on our side of the bracket this year.

The 2018 bracket wasn't favorable either with the #1, #5, and #9 seeds on our side of the bracket.

Take care of notre dame and OU is gonna be our 2022 version of baylor in Omaha. These boys haven’t been here before. We have. The pressure will get to them. We’ll thrive under the pressure

Este. Competition isn't the same as last year. I don't see a team as dangerous as MSU in the field. OU gives me the most concern but we're 2-2 against them this season I believe.

Heard on 104.9 just now Texas is the favorite to win it all. Struggling to find that in print but I believe it.

The team who was in Omaha last year in the national semifinals, with 2 really good SPs, and Ivan Melendez and Murphy Stehly backing up the team's 128 HRs?

Yeah, I could see that. Slight favorite, but a favorite.

Top HR team left
Top BA team left
4th best ERA team left (#2 and #3 on the other side of the bracket)
Top fielding team left

A&M is the #5 overall seed how can they be the dogs in this? Obviously the bookies know something. The only A&M baseball I have watched this year was that Tuesday game where Rock and Moss obliterated us.

aggy has better odds of going two and q than winning the whole thing

I hate to say something good about aggy, but I thought they looked pretty solid in the super. They left 17 runners on base though so hopefully they continue that trend

I have no problem saying good things about them when it is deserved. That is just not that often.

But yeah they have gone through the tournament so far looking pretty solid.

They're the literal definition of a bubble team. Don't see them getting quite that same atmosphere in Ameritrade.

If they do I hope it is Notre Dame who sends them home. Tired of losers bracket shit.

68th in team BA
62 in team ERA
169th in fielding percentage

Their 3 main starters have ERAs of 4.75, 5.40 and 4.92.  They rely heavily on Palisch (2.60) and Johnston (3.34) in relief.

And after the 2nd game, it's critical to win the 3rd.

You go all in on every game. I don't want to see us saving anybody for the next game. We're not saving anything, except ass kickings for our opponents. You send the best guy who is available out to that mound every time, YOU HOLD THEIR NOSE AND KICK THEM IN THE ASS. YOU BEAT THE HELL OUT OF THEM ALL THE TIME AND YOU GO THROUGH THEM LIKE SHIT THROUGH A GOOSE.

Erm...not sure why I started channeling George Patton there.

Wow that is pretty bad. Hope those stats show up in Omaha.

aggerz was pretty turrable for the first part of the season.  trust the schloss made some lineup changes and they started hitting right around the time they came to Austin.

They don't do splits in college baseball stats as far as I know but it would be curious to see what their stats hitting wise looked like over the last 35 games or so.

I do think they are a poor mans UT this year (good hitting suspect pitching).  If we even had a standard deviation of the norm of our normal pitching this would be setting up to be the greatest CWS ever.
