Nah the moment was way too serious. Can't kneecap your own anger by being quippy.

Beto should have just walked to stage, stood quietly and stared at Abbot.   No words.   No actions.   Just stare him down.

I think he should have told everyone to get their asses to Austin and fix things immediately.

Maybe now, the handcuffed mother in Uvalde who defied the cowardly police officers and rescued her two babies, and other Valley residents will stop being beholden to Republicans and become more like their counterparts in California. It’s time.

This press conference today is really something - Abbott boasting about all of these socialist benefits that are available to the survivors.  'Sorry the repub policies on guns killed your children, but look at all of these Democrat policy benefits that somehow fell through the cracks and are still available for y'all!  You're welcome!'

Did anybody mention why Abbott has refused to extend Medicaid to Texans like those in Uvalde?

And yet in the State of Texas, a bartender or server who makes the typical $2.13 hourly wage can be held criminally and civilly liable for the actions of a third party patron who drinks and drives and kills someone.

And that business gets safe harbor protection if the employee has TABC training up to date.

And an Uber driver who takes someone who is seven weeks pregnant to Planned Parenthood to get an abortion can be civilly sued by random strangers for $10,000!

And for the GOP, this is an example of the the system working perfectly. Man shoots AR-15 into a crowd, is killed by a birthday party guest who fires back at him with her own personal weapon. Move the body and cut the cake I guess.

What a dystopian nightmare we are living in.

We are WAY overdue for an Entmoot...

Yep - the message is now - "We just need to enforce the gun laws that are on the books." If the shooter had only been arrested for carrying a gun on school property, none of this would have happened.

Uber drivers need to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps and start lobbying.  But not unionize in the process....

Had another conservative student a few years ago who told me it was his constitutional right to own a tank and the government was preventing him from doing so.

i'm fine with this.  sell them all tanks.  give them all tanks.

it will take something ridiculously stupid like private citizens owning tanks for people to see how fucking nonsensical the 2nd amendment really is.

This story is only getting worse.  It will continue to get worse.

Our leadership and institutions have not just failed us, they are actively getting us killed.

Sadly, much of the process and procedural laxity we’re learning about is a result of the locals in Uvalde never imagining a gun massacre would occur in their small, relatively safe community. Buffalo seemed a world away from these people.

Yeah reading the article he was getting chastised for speeding through the complex when kids were playing, came back waving his AR around and got shot.  Guns for everyone!

I don't know.  That's what, a 2005 Mitsubishi compact?  It's still on the road so I imagine they got their money's worth.

Can we sue Abbott for aiding and abetting 19 very late term abortions in Uvalde?

And that Mitsubishi was just as useful in this massacre as the other vehicle was, so it has that going for it, too
