Does anyone even use the phrase “going postal” anymore? Seems we’ve come a long way since that was a thing.

You bring up a good point.  So many other types of workplace shootings, school shootings, nightclubs, concerts, etc.  Even a gun shop.

About the safest place to be anymore is a post office.  A mass shooter wouldn't even think to go in there, even an ex-employee, because there's hardly anybody in there these days.

Put a limit on the amount of ammo that can be possessed at a given time. All expended rounds must be accounted for by their shell casings.

Reloading is a hell of a drug

Florida should pass a liberty gun law like ours. That way people can rush out, buy a cache of guns and ammo and shoot to their heart’s content.

The Texas leg just found their reason to block thc legalization for another 10 yrs

When a Walmart is the most crowded place that you can think of, you live in a shit hole.

Not if you’re targeting certain people.

And it’s a VERY soft target.

Racist and lazy plus crazy nut and that’s what you get.

from my NORML Texas newsletter this morning (excerpt):

A record six bills regarding cannabis policy passed from the Texas House to the Senate this session, including five bills on our priority list. Two of those will become law (HB 1535 & HB 567).

Bills were sent to the Senate which would:
Reduce the penalty for THC concentrates from a felony to Class B misdemeanor. (HB 2593)

Reduce the penalty for possession of marijuana flower and eliminate jail time for possessing small amounts. (HB 441)

Enshrine parental protections. (HB 567)

Improve the Texas Hemp Program. (HB 3948)

Improve the Texas Compassionate Use Program. (HB 1535)

We also were able to prevent Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s ban of Delta-8 by blocking his attempt to add amendments to several pieces of our legislation.

God help us if he’d tried to make a yellow cake with it.

After that much concentrated THC, he may be so hungry---he'll eat the yellow cake.

What a wonderful tribute on Memorial Day, another crazy person with access to firearms.

But of course, the real tragedy today was a tweet by the Vice President.

Yeah, great timing with today being Sine Die at the Legislature where they're handling these top issues.

Why'd we have to wait for the police at this mall?  Why didn't some open carrying good samaritan take out the shooter before people died?

I'm sure half of Texans are thinking, (unclerico/) "Man, if I was at that mall buying white pants to start the summer...I'd have taken that guy out...no doubt.  Cops wouldn't even have to show up.  No doubt, man.  None."  (/unclerico

Well that seems to cover all the ideological bases.  Even appears to have a shield with a syringe on it, not sure if that is pro-vaccine or anti-vax.

BUT RED FLAG LAWS

HE WAS A COP.

He shot her once. The law took his guns. They gave them back after nine months. With pending domestic violence charges.

He shot her dead SIXTEEN DAYS after they gave him his guns back.

Madness.

Proof positive that we value guns more than people.

There are 390+ million guns in the U.S. according to a quick google search. I've never gotten an answer on how he would get these guns off the streets and out of the hands of potential offenders. Go door to door in every hood and rural town? What would your gun control policy look like & what would we do with the 390 million guns already in the country?

I have echoed similar sentiments as have many others in here. It is sad that a gun has more value to millions of our fellow citizens than the life of a human being.

How will we ever know how unrealistic it is to reduce the number of guns on the street if we never try? Why not register guns and ammunition and prohibit the sale of military style weapons? Let’s see what happens. We already know what it’s like living in the Wild West.

The problem seems daunting because you’re not factoring in time. Over time. Anything can be accomplished over time

1. Phase 1 - 5 years of Voluntary Buybacks and information period.  Information about where they can legally be kept and fired. (Gun ranges and rural)  Info about future consequences in phase 2

2. Phase 2 - 5 years of More voluntary buybacks and small fines for possession. Multiple offenses lead to confiscation. Take them to gun ranges or farms

3. Phase 3 - Criminal penalties for possession. Confiscation

People need time to get used to change

yes, you will have the 2A nuts. You will have small amount who shoot up in retaliation. It will only reinforce the need to get rid of guns.

How bout we raise better citizens?  Nah…where’s the political capital in that?

Being that we’re raising 1) utter pieces of shit, 2) giving them badges, and 3) making them AMERICAN HEROES BACK THE BLUE!.....I’m spotting a flaw in your plan.
