Cool - got to spend an afternoon in Oxford... LOVED IT.  Here are some photos to give you some nostalgia:

For those who haven't been or don't know, Oxford is actually made up of a number of semi-independent colleges.  Each one an almost walled/enclosed area with beautiful architecture, church structures, courtyards, etc.  Very "Harry Potter".

...and a requisite pint

Taking my parents to the airport tomorrow for them to spend a few days in Oxford and then my wife and I are meeting them in the Cotswolds next week to do the Cotswold Ring.  A little over 50 miles in 6 days.  I am pretty excited to do this, as it is something quite different from my normal hiking adventures, especially because it may be my last big trip with my parents before they get too old.  I haven't read this whole thread yet, but glad to see it exists.  I'll post pics when I get back.  Also, just followed you on Insta @RamjetFDO

That's a *great* loop!  The Slaughters and Bourton-on-the-Water are perfect intro.  IF YOU HAVE TIME, the "miniature village" in Bourton is a fun little detour.

When you get to Stow-on-the-Wold, make sure you prioritize walking around to the back side of St. Edwards' church and see the "Tolkien Door" with the two massive Yew trees growing into and beside the doorway

The walk from Broadway Tower downhill into Broadway is super relaxing, but visually very pleasing.  One of my favorites, especially if there's not a lot of others out on the path ... very peaceful hearing the breeze and the sheep.

Make sure to see the Hailes Abbey ruins along your way.  Very worth the stop, and pop into that parish church.  There's a 12th/13th century mural still very visible on the walls.

I'm super jealous!  That sounds like an amazing time - post photos when you're back!

OUTSTANDING!  Happy you got to see these!  It's really humbling to be there in the presence of such obvious *history*... and surrounded by the beauty of the area.
