Is Silas coming back?

Very unlikely. He’s projected to be drafted high enough that justifies him leaving.

That transfer above is a good indication Texas doesn’t think he’s returning. A guy that started almost ever game at a power 5 program isn’t coming to Texas to sit on the bench.

Wait and see Austin. Maybe it will make sense when the new staff is assembled.

Yeah had a long week but no way Pierce just did all of this without a “plan” in place. It’s fuckin June. Plenty of time to scour the portal and juco, which Pierce is a badass at. Shit I’m loving that arky transfer. Shore up the pen some. Lebarron has closer stuff. Southard coming back would be fuckin awesome.

Let’s see who we end up hiring, how the draft goes, Skenes transferring here is a total game changer. Got our Friday night dude and 1B/DH. I think Daly and O’Dowd are gonna be gap to gap power dudes next year along with salty ass infielders. Campbell will be back. He’s gonna go nuts at the plate next year. Hoping Kennedy will be back. Whitehead has promise at the plate and is a good to great outfielder. Man getting lucky with this recruiting class and the draft would be nice. Plus getting sayyyyyy hodo and Southard back would be game changing. Not counting on it though.

Basically, we have a solid nucleus with Campbell, Gordon, O’Dowd, Daly, Whitehead, maybe Kennedy, Schuessler,  along with Duplantier, Harrison, Lebarron, Holsten

And takes y’all’s bullshit “rebuilding year” and shove it up y’all’s ass. We got some good pieces, we’re gonna bring in 2 badass hires, bring in some transfers and a badass recruiting class. Guarantee we’re gonna be firing on all cylinders come May and be ready to kick some mother fucking ass in June like we have 3 of the last 4 full seasons

The baseball program from Gus to his players and the Augie dudes are sick of this shit and all aligned. We got this.

Also, you don't want to load up with transfers this early. Every day 5 or 6 more really good players enter the portal.

That USC catcher just hit the portal apparently.

Yeah. Plenty of time till fall ball then there will be more changes after that. We’ll have a top 10ish roster and I trust Pierce and CDC and whoever else involved in getting our assistants lined up.

Wake the fuck up, dudes. We just won the directors cup, Beard is building something special, Pierce seems to be pushing the right buttons and our football program is doing all the right things right now. Our athletic department is finally aligned. Soak it in, folks. Been a long time coming

1 July is deadline to enter portal for Spring sports per:

Student-athletes must enter the portal (or at least notify their school’s administration of their intention) by May 1 for all fall and winter sports, and July 1 for all spring sports, in order to be eligible to use the one-time transfer exception.

Except for fall graduates, I believe? They can transfer over the break and compete in 2023 as grad transfers.

I keep seeing that deadline mentioned but until we see how the NCAA handles waivers it's meaningless. When a coach is fired or there are other circumstances players are still going to be able to transfer after entering past that deadline.

From the article above.

"Student-athletes who miss this deadline will be ineligible to compete at their new school for one season, unless the new school submits a waiver that’s granted by the NCAA."

It also presumes the NCAA won't hand out waivers which they were doing a lot of prior to this new deadline rule.

If a player at USC waits to transfer until after July 1st and they still don't have a coach in place the NCAA is not going to deny them a waiver. There are other circumstances that will be used to justify waivers.

Skenes is all but enrolled at Tennessee already

The LSU SEC rant is implying he might have taken a visit there recently. It feels like Skenes might be taking several visits to schools.

If the LSU board is to be trusted it also sounds like they wanted that USC catcher.

And you would know this how?

That was the rumor but I don't think it's true anymore.

LSU fans think they're getting Skenes too. He's taking several visits like he should and enjoying the process. Skenes might still end up at Tennessee but he's definitely taking visits. He apparently visited LSU last week.

Yeah he’s a high profile dude. Go have your fun and come to Austin where you know you belong

Does Texas not have anyone that covers baseball from the 9.95ers?

It's embarrassing how much better information I can find on that LSU SEC rant site that comes from all their sites. I just scrolled through their LSU baseball recruiting thread and they were talking about that USC catcher to Texas a couple days ago because he was somebody LSU was after.

Dustin McComas used to at OB, and he had pretty good coverage, but moved on to a larger role at fivetool.org.

Jeff Howe at 247 provides decent coverage, but it's widely inconsistent and normally past looking.

Honestly, if someone here was looking for a part-time gig covering Texas Baseball at one of the 9.95ers, the market is ripe.

Jeff Howe is not a positive in this conversation. Give him proper credit for coverage though.

Sources told Horns247 Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte offered contracts to Tulowitzki and Anderson that would’ve made them the highest-paid assistants in college baseball. But to no avail. Anderson has a great pitching staff returning at Tennessee, and Tulowitzki, who earned nearly $168 million in a 15-year MLB career and turned down the USC head-coaching job last week, wants to take a year to evaluate exactly what his next step is while spending more time with his expectant wife.

Longhorn pitching legend Huston Street, who helped connect Tulowitzki and Pierce, told Horns247 Tulowitzki’s impact on the team’s hitting and fielding the last three seasons was “profound.”

Tulowitzki’s decision was a blow to a number of Longhorn players who are draft-eligible but have given serious thought to returning, sources said. The MLB Draft is July 17-19.

Didn’t realize Tulo’s wife was pregnant. His decision is starting to make more and more sense.

Take one for the team, tulo. Your child or this program. There are bigger things in life than family. Like Texas baseball
