Jealousy over a threesome between passengers sparked 60-person brawl on Carnival Cruise

Cruises are for poor people

Amazingly, the free market has managed to only develop and offer cruises that cater to a single socio-economic group:  poor people.

  • A massive brawl erupted in a nightclub early Tuesday on the Carnival Magic just off New York harbor as it was wrapping up its eight-day Caribbean cruise
  • It has emerged the brawl was triggered after some passengers engaged in a threesome - which then enraged their significant others, leading 40 to 60 people to get involved in the punch-up
  • Two people began scuffling on nightclub dance floor and the altercation then rapidly got out of control
  • The fracas began on the fifth floor and lasted for an hour, ending up on the first floor of the cruise ship
  • Video shows security guards clearly outnumbered and completely powerless to stop the large brawl
  • After the fight, the Coast Guard escorted the ship to dock in Manhattan - no injuries were reported

That is fucking awesome.  I would love to inspire a fight that involves over 40 people spread over 4-5 floors, and ends up with the Coast Guard escorting the ship into port.

I'm gonna guess that none of us want to see the Google search results for "cruise ship threesome."

I agree.  But deep down, you know it's a well worn search term.  See Rules of the Internet 34, 41.

"Cruise Ship Threesome" was the name of my 70s disco cover band.

For the life of me, I cannot understand the logic here. The math says at least 37 people (in a row?) who didn't participate in this threesome had some kind of allegiance to one of the three participants

But these 37 people couldn't have all held the same allegiance, so they started fighting each other. This makes no fucking sense to me at all.

Really?

Same awesome Shirley Temple sipping listening to his own music witness:

The witness added: 'it was the last night so i guess they wanted to go out with a bang, but a lifetime ban from cruising is wild lol.'

That was a lot of weight being thrown around that ship.  Surprised this wasn't a story about a capsizing.

I've never understood why anyone would board a floating intestinal virus.  Staph infection doesn't care if you're rich or poor.  Add in whale sized threesomes and the resulting buckets of flop sweat and other bodily fluids that must have been involved, and holy shit that Carnival was a floating disease pit.

Meanwhile, this guy just read this story and is headed for the docks.

I'm also in the camp that I would prefer a kick to the balls than 1 day on a cruise ship. I've noticed that no one ever defends cruises but they're sure packed all the time.

There is a large gulf between the "giant party boat cruises" and "port every day somewhere interesting" cruises.

Huge fan of the latter.

You are correct....  Most of the cruises in the Medditerian and Northern Europe/UK/Ireland are just a floating hotels as many of them dock early and leave late  because the ports of call are so close to one another.  You get back from your day at the destination and you just want to eat and hit the sack.

There was a time when the ones near me (Alabama) were so cheap going to the Yucatan, that, me wanting to go to Mexico again, I called their office and worked out how I could buy a ticket (had to be roundtrip, but still cheaper than a flight at the time), ride across the Gulf, and then just get off and leave in Progreso so long as they knew why I was missing, then just spend another summer bumming around non-Cancun parts of Yucatan, bus up to Mexico City and kick it awhile, then wend my way up to Dad's house in Texas for a week or so, then Southwest back to Bama.

Figured I'd graze the "free" food onboard then hide from all tourist activities somewhere.

Put me in the cruise anywhere/anytime camp. Love cruising. Love waking up in different places to visit and also love the phone disconnect is forces on people (currently at least).  Especially great for families in that kids love them and parents have plenty of free time as well.

I went on a cruise once.

Once.

No thanks.

Same.    Once.   It was wall to wall people.  You couldn't even see the water in the pool there were so many people in it.   After two days we finally figured out the only way to actually enjoy the deck is to stay while the dinners are going on.  We also made sure to get off the boat at every single stop just to have some peace for a few hours

Its like a floating NFL game.

I dunno... I've only watched one football game from the stands (Cowboys against someone I don't remember because I was at the 15 yard line where the cheerleaders were shaking what they got.)

Every game since then has been in a suite of some sort. Having a good view, unlimited food and booze without having to mingle with the unwashed masses is the the way to go.

And apparently not even any reported injuries. I don’t understand any of this story

Maybe the cops misunderstood and the others were just trying to join in
