Actually yes. My daughter has met a Gideon.

2 years ago my daughter (no pics, you perverts) spent the summer driving the beer cart at the golf course near by. Made a killing in tips - $300+/day, but it was extremely hot and you have to hustle.
One foursome on the course kept her busy for a couple of hours but didn’t drink alcohol - water, soft drinks, snacks, ice, etc. she probably served these guys 5-6 times during the round and they didn’t tip her once. Not cool but thems the breaks- or so she thought.

She was refilling the cooler with ice next to the parking lot and one of these guys is on his way out to the car. He says, “hey wait, I’ve got something for you,” jogs over to his car, grabs something out and brings her … the Gideons New Testament and shares with her The Good News.

So she’s got that going for her, which is nice.

Godfuckingdammit.  Back when I was waiting tables, two old ladies who praised my service throughout the meal left me a "tip" - it was a folded up piece of paper that said "your tip is the good news that Jesus is your lord and savior."  I ran out in the parking lot yelling "JESUS DOESN'T PAY MY FUCKING RENT!"

Are "Christians" the fucking worst humans on earth?  Yes.  Yes they are.

Yeah, how Christ like it is to not only piss people off, but to lie to them that it's money.

Why not money, and the piece of paper with it on the ground, or not part of the actual tip.

I guess this is my cue to report that whoever is dropping copies of the niv study bible on doorsteps in my neighborhood felt compelled to leave us two copies.

OTOH, a half dozen google pages were all but unanimous in gushing praise for this edition.

Sounds like a good time for a book burning.

Exposure to lunacy is part of education.

Leave it in there.

Apart from the value judgment in "lunacy," this right here.

Part of education is exposure to a wide variety of good and bad ideas.  Most ideas are mixtures of good and bad.  If you're so dead set against "librul ideas" teach your kids critical thinking.

Teach them critical thinking skills and you’ll wind up with liberal kids.

Let's study on the penis length of donkeys and ejaculate floods of horses and call that science.    Sometimes bad ideas are just bad.

---------------------

Due to anchoring bias, often what people are exposed to first tends to set the stage for their beliefs.   It is why McDonalds' and Churches have playgrounds.   Children should be taught objective facts along with critical thinking skills to go along with their education and to challenge beliefs.   But this is more suited for high-school and beyond.    I liken it to my geology education.  First they teach end-members and put boundaries on things (undergrad) then they teach how those boundaries are not quite so rigid and the limits of the science that defined it (graduate).

Maybe I don't want to expose my kids to a parent who sacrifices a child to his imaginary friend, who offers his daughters to get gang raped by a crowd, and whose scientific objective knowledge is limited to comparing penises and ejaculate of mammals to humans.

Your bias against donkey dicks and horse jizz is noted for the record.

If we are going to go all out, let's just let each class go out and measure the donkey dick lengths and girths, then calculate the volume, and contrast that with region, diet and breed of donkey and let this be a universal study and contrast with the Bob Stoop Dick Orchard Research Institute findings.   With regards to the latter, just have students visit the Corp of Cadets laundry room for more information.
