Who is the only Hall of Fame starting pitcher since 1960 to play his entire career for one team?

That's Palmer, isn't it?

Think Gibson entered the majors before 1960.

Palmer was released by Baltimore in 1984.

He thought about playing for another team, but retired instead.

I bet that didn't happen many times to Hall of Famers playing for one team.

He knew he could make good coin modeling underwear and doing color commentary -- just not at the same time.

But he missed the game, which is one of the reasons he tried a comeback in '91.

Upon induction, Billy Wagner will have the 3rd lowest career ERA for a HOFer who started his career after 1910.  Who are 1st and 2nd?

TIL Prince Fielder had more career inside the park homers than Rickey Henderson.

Rickey's career high in triples was only 7 in a season. Rickey ain't want to run hard for more than about 60 yards.

Are they both Yankees?

Seems like y'all figured it out.  The innings are really interesting too (and the reason RPs don't belong in the HOF):

Rivera: 2.21 1283 2/3

Ruth: 2.28    1221 1/3 (1190 1/3 w/ BOS)

Wagner: 2.31 903

The mention of Ruth's career ERA and the reference to the fact that he apparently pitched 31 innings while with the Yankees got me looking around a bit, and I learned something.  In 1930, nine years after he had last pitched in a major league game and 11 years since last pitching a substantial number of innings in a season, Ruth asked to pitch in a meaningless last game of the season at the age of 35.  He threw a complete game for the victory and added two hits and a RBI.   That's impressive.

This isn’t a trivia question, so much as a fun collection of names.

Quote

Here is a list of all the non-pitchers who have had a .050 or worse batting average in at least 40 at bats in MLB history:

Spoiler

Skeeter Shelton — .025 — 1915

Justin Foscue — .048 — 2024

Fred Wood — .048 — 1884

Eric Stamets — .049 — 2019

Craig Grebeck — .049 — 2001

Don Gile — .049 — 1962

Don Wert — .050 — 1971

So literally the only player in MLB history with a worse batting average than Foscue had last year played during WWI, and was named “Skeeter.”

There are some folks(not on this thread, of course) who like to diminish Ruth because of the era he played, and because he didn't look like Charles Atlas. But in full context and given his play vs. his peers, IMO, he is the greatest.  Mays is a close 2nd.

Nicole would have trade him because of his shape.
