Cantlay on an absolute tear today.

Surprised Cantlay only shot a 67 today (-5).  Only 2 strokes better than Spieth

Goddamn, I dream of an era soon where I can watch a major and not have to listen to/about Woods again.

We’ll be living on mars —or whatever other planet Webb finds —before then

Spieth left a lot of shots out on the course today. It is his way.

How would you know?  I spent most of the morning watching a guy who was +9.

Would be great if the Leader was -9 going into Saturday...  could be an epic weekend of golf.

Hope the winds this afternoon give these guys hell for awhile -- even if they are only around for an hour or so.

I think I saw the vast majority of Jordans shots. And scheffler too, unlike yesterday. Plenty of DJ. They probably missed a lot of Hatton for guys toward the top of the leaderboard.

He’s really fucking good.  My guess is he wins pretty easily.

We'll see. Conditions can change in a hurry out there.

I have no stats to back this up but doesn’t he tend to have a hard time finishing?

He's won a Players. You don't finish at a major until you do.

But, he ain't winning easily. He has Rory right on his ass with some holes left to play.

this is far from over.  anyone within 6 to 7 shots still has a reasonable chance IMO.

Those shots of the Dunvegan hotel and pub brought back great memories . Drank there daily when I stayed there in 1999. The Open was at Carnoustie that year just down the road so all the pros hung out there.

Drank with Furyk, fluff, and nick price. Owned by a Texan and his wife from Scotland but they recently sold it. Jack and sheena willoughby.

Truly an epic place and one you should definitely go to if you’re ever in St. Andrews.

It is going to take some of the Spieth magic on the weekend to get into the contention (currently 9 back of Cam and at T24)
I've not looked, is the weather supposed to hold or is it going to be links/Open Championship weather?

partly sunny tomorrow 10-13MPH winds, rain Sunday early possible, still 10-13 MPH winds.  basically as good as you can expect for a BO.  nothing really game changing unless the wind really picks up.

He was mentioned briefly on the Sirius/XM  radio cast as still having a little of that “magic” and “trudging around” the golf course. But I wish for whatever fucked up reason he’d have made the cut.

Go get your ass in that final group, Rory.

Rory fighting to be in next to last group w/DJ

That could be fun... "Mr. PGA"  vs "LIV's Best"

yeah, would have loved to see him on the weekend.  bogey bogey bogey finish to miss the cut by 3.

Cam Smith two up but he's gained 10 strokes putting already this week. No way he keeps that up. Anyone within ~6 should be very much in this thing.

Need Hovland to birdie or eagle #18, or else Rory will be paired with DJ

18 players at Even (T66) caused a ridiculous number of players to make cut.

83 total (top 70 plus ties)

That's why Kis is teeing off at 3:35am ET @ztejas

Also because the tournament is in Scotland. Not sure if the rest of y'all had picked up on that or not.

Hovland, being a logical Norwegian, will be smart enough to not go full Fowler and wear okie state orange this weekend, right? Surely by now they know the orange Julius look is shat on by the golf gods.

Hovland is just as good as Rickie ever was. I do feel bad that he has to deal with a Brit Rory crowd. Almost wonder if he would have been better off at -9 and paired with Hatton.
