So how does one train for a fire in a dam?

smoke? check.  massive electrical risk? check Risk of getting about 6 different kids of burns? check.

Then if you fuck up real bad, you get to drown too...

I believe the fire is where the electrical generation equipment is.

Yikes, that could potentially be quite an expensive fire if there's any serious impairment of generation capacity

I think you could nuke the Hoover dam and it would still manage to keep some water out.

There's still water for that dam to hold back?

You won't even know about it if you drown, luckily.

I really tried to find a gif of Harrison Ford running through the dam in Force 10 from Navarone but quickly lost interest

Not a lot of gifs from that movie.  Have tried to find some before as well.

Weekend network TV in the late 70s and early 80s was all about the disaster movie.  Young DCBC ate that shit up.  Probably why Airplane! still resonates so strongly with me.  That and the "we're also out of coffee" scene.

I'll only watch it if Ernest Borgnine is in it.

There’s already conspiracy theories

I don't understand twitter, but that is hilarious.  I would be impressed(but not supportive) if someone could blow up that dam.

A lot of people are wondering about this so all I gotta say is it’s just coincidence. I actually posted this at 1am last night and it got 1 like so I gave it another shot when I woke. Also the dam wasn’t destroyed and I live on the other side of the country nowhere near the dam.

If there was ever a place I was less concerned about a fire its at the mouth of the goddamn colorado river

A place called Boulder on the wild Colorado.

when that will smith post apocalyptic movie came out, history channel started doing these shows where they look at what will happen after man.  they hypothesized the hoover dam would be the last remnant of our existence.

After the pyramid complex at Giza?
