I don't follow the team super closely, but Driussi's drop in form has been pretty remarkable.  He's not that old.  Maybe this is just who he is and 2022 was the outlier.

I think 2022 was an outlier of sorts for sure, although he should be capable of better numbers than he had in 2023 and 2024.  Without the right complementary players, strong wingers and a good striker, Driussi was limited.  Defenses often double teamed Driussi because the remaining players could not consistently mount a dangerous attack without his contribution.

I would love to see Driussi play a season with Bukari and Vazquez, but the rumors suggest that he is leaving.  Any one player is replaceable, if that's what the front office wants to do.  A lessor replacement for Driussi will be problematic in my opinion since so much of the offense relies upon playmaking from that position.

Nice little write up on The Facebook.

PS- Kind of shitty if his wife not to move to México 🇲🇽 to be there with her husband unless she has some super high paying job that is supporting the family.

Yeah, she looks like she would only go to Cancun/ Playa del Carmen/ Tulum or over to Cabo.

Monterrey would be a “no go” for her, but I bet that she’s fine with moving to the new Austin.

Are we all good with shitting on Driussi now?
Because my wife is ready for y’all to get on board with where she’s been for 2+ seasons. She LOATHES Driussi - shitty attitude, erratic play, selfish, terrible captain.
We’re definitely excited about these offseason moves. Needed a shakeup.

Trying to get more enthusiasm for the wife for keeping the new away venue streak going. So far we've hit one a year with

2022: Houston

2023: Kansas City (bro trip, wife didn't attend)

2024: Dallas

Options are 6/7 in Colorado, 6/28 in Seattle, or 7/26 in DC. We were married at Olympic National Park, so Seattle has some sentimental value. She wants to hit DC, but damn Colorado is just so easy and nice in June.

I am going to approach the wife with going to an away game this year.  I don't see going to Houston or Frisco and probably not any of the Canada games as my passport is expired.

Thinking about 5/31 San Diego, 6/7 Colorado, 6/28 Seattle, or 10/18 San Jose.

Shit I forgot about Montreal on 8/23. My wife is currently a teacher looking to leave the profession. If she does leave that would be absolutely perfect.

To your point - I'm fine with Driussi leaving so long as Rodo has an acceptable replacement.  If somehow Rodo convinced River to pay $10m for Driussi, I'm ecstatic.

Driussi really dropped once the club transferred Diego and again when the club cut ties with Rigoni.  The former wasn't surprising since Diego was a key player in our offense and he wasn't immediately replaced.  The later, on the other hand, was just Driussi pouting about losing his Argentinian buddy.

This new team is in large part Rodo's creation.  A few of the players are from the old days, but the big time players are all new.  It's probably best that Rodo and Nico work with a team that doesn't have much by the way of baggage from the past.

Estoy Listo!

Depending on your schedule, you could catch a couple of group stage matches in the Club World Cup if you visited Seattle - last two are Sounders v PSG on 6/23 and 6/25 Inter v River Plate (and Driuzzi, lol). There are a few things to do locally between games, I think....

Can’t believe Rodo got such a big bag for him. Great call.

This is definitely his team. He’s turned over the entire sporting operation - coaches, players, scouts, medical team, etc.

Much needed, I'm betting we have a buzzing stadium on 2/22. I wish I was waiting on SciPlay to open right now.

He's had to deal with a lot of bullshit to be fair. I'll always respect him for the WCF season. It was time for both parties to move on.

Glad to see the FO making moves. Hope BV does well here.

San Jose could be easy trip. The stadium literally connected to the runway of airport

Thoughts on Uzuni?

Prolific in La Liga for a bad team and prolific in La Liga 2 for a medium team (Both Granada).

22/23: Top goal scorer in La Liga 2

23/24: 11 goals for a relegation level team in La Liga. 15th in the league.

This year: 14 goals in 18 games making him 2nd in La Liga 2 in goals.

On paper he should be a damn monster if he can get the ball. MLS reporter had some thoughts,

Myrto Uzuni and the contours of Austin's midfield
Honest to god: If it was 30 years ago, Uzuni would be starting in the English Premier League because his qualities are the classic “second forward” qualities English teams looked for in a forward running off of a target man. Work rate, speed, movement in and around the box, a knack for one-touch finishes? He’s got all that, and I have little doubt it’ll translate in MLS.

The issue is there’s no longer really a natural home for that type of player at the very top of the game, as the 4-2-3-1 and the 4-3-3 have basically killed the second forward. The meta has changed, shifting in the direction of pure pitch control, which has led most teams to drop that second forward in favor of a third central midfielder (The other position greatly affected: the No. 10. There are almost no classic 10s at the very highest level anymore since “individual genius” roster builds have been replaced by the press, positional play, playmaking wingers or some combination of all three).

Anyway, Uzuni is showing, this year in LaLiga 2, that second forward remains his best spot. He showed, last year in LaLiga, that he could still be a threat on the counter from the left in a 4-3-3 – though also that he’s not going to be able to add much in the way of possession, playmaking or 1v1 ability when he’s out there.

I don’t think Austin want to be a counterattacking team; I think they want to be a possession team that generates chances with the ball. But they now have three front-line DPs who aren’t really going to help a ton with the first part of that equation.

I think he will be great. I also think that Doyle, who wrote that article and who I respect, is stretched way too thin trying to cover every single team in the link. I don’t put a ton of stock in his very specific takes around systems.

I don’t think Uzuni works under Wolff’s system but Nico has talked a lot about being more flexible. I can see Biro providing the width on the opposite side from Bukari with Uzuni running underneath. A ton of potential in this club this year.

One thing that causes me concern is that I don’t see much discussion of a place for Gallagher. Y’all remember, our all-star? I feel he’s been very underutilized, he’s one of our 2-3 fastest players, and he can help create opportunities…if there’s a place for him to see the pitch.

As of right now, he’s the first option off the bench at fullback and one of the wings. I think he sees a lot of time.

That was my first idea but her school where she teaches at is shutting down and being absorbed so she has to move classrooms that week. I really wish it was a week or month later.

I've seen a game in Seattle (actually got to see Landon and Beckham both play - csb, I know). I'd highly recommend it.

I mean that's a badass city in general. Plus DC in late July can be gross.

Sure as hell hope so. Be a waste of talent otherwise. Of course, if this team actually had enough talent to waste…that would be a huge leap forward in any case.
