And this.

Overall, they looked better, but were still doing the same annoying shit, like fucking around with the ball, letting the defense catch up and looking for passes when shots are available. That said, at least they are getting shots off and didn't park the bus with a 1 goal lead or give up a goal after 85 minutes, which is a huge improvement, especially compared to the second half of last season.

Miscellany:
- It was chilly and damp
- Bukari's passing is slick
- Dressler plays angry, I like it
- Owen was MUCH better and seemed both more confident and physically stronger
- The official with a beard was terrible and also a dick
- When one of KC's players did a Dwayne-Wade level flop and got yellow carded, I was shouting "DIE AGAIN, MORTIMER, DIE AGAIN!" The lady in front of us thought it was hilarious because it was, but nobody else seemed to get the reference. Doesn't anyone appreciate the American theater anymore? I play to an upmarket crowd.
- There were a couple of blonds sitting in the vicinity of Brisketexan's seats, at least one of whom appeared to be working with some spectacular bolt-ons. She was also wearing a red cap, and while I'm not sure what it said, she did have a bit of a MAGA look.
- I didn't see Brisket, I don't know if he was ejected or busy talking to the blonds about poutine or what but, gift horses.

There were four of said blondos. All had significant after-market accessories, especially red hat (it was some brand of something, probably a “sponsor” of her as an “influencer”). They were clearly there to be seen and not watch the game.
Well….I saw them. So, check that box.
And yes, Desler is a beast. My wife kept going back to how much she liked how hard he played. Which is something, because otherwise, her thoughts on our back line are mostly 1) Biro still plays stupid and short-tempered too much, and 2) she would very much like to get in Hines-Ike’s kit.

My wife is a Gallagher Stan. No idea why that's her choice, but I wouldn't be mad.

My wife's two favorite players are Gallagher and Kolmanic.  Like, passionately so, and is annoyed that Biro gets all the playing time over Kolmanic.  We've gotten to know Gallagher's wife and family, and Kolmanic's "adopted family" (Slovenian) here, so she feels a bit maternal and protective of them both.  Hines-Ike?  She just wants to get freaky with him.

She picks who she likes (and doesn't) heavily based on attitude.  So, Desler is rocketing up her list, because he plays with some real fire.  On the other side, she couldn't have been happier to see Driussi go -- the prima donna argie attitude, and his "quit" when things weren't going his way pissed her off.  And I gotta tell ya, it's not a bad benchmark, as it tends to correlate pretty damned well to performance on the pitch.

Now, I just need to get her over her contempt for Wolff and the foundation of his playing career being naked nepotism (which is a curse for US Soccer and has been for a long time).  She's not wrong, but 1) daddy ain't around this year, 2) Wolff has bulked up and is more physical, and 3) he was one of the better players out there last night; he was aggressive, created chances, and often was able to handle it when two defenders would try to take him out.  Not a perfect game (needs to be more willing to pass/shoot sooner, like the rest of 'em), but he was a solid presence out there, and a genuine help.

Oh, and @Bozo_Casanova, you know where we sit, you can see us (we were there all game, albeit in big puffy coats).  Come on down.  I might even buy you a white wine or something.

I’m at Turnstile almost every week. Yall come say hi.

Where do you park at? We've always been Punchbowl Social, but the 1.1 mile walk back was miserable on Saturday.

There's some street parking around. We usually go down early and park on McHale. There's also a cutthrough behind the warehouses so you don't have to go up to Burnet.

I went to my first FC game Saturday. I really know little about soccer. But it was a blast, a lot of fun and I'm ready to go back. It was cold, but man what a great place.

Turnstile is our routine. We park behind the Jack in the Box, then get a Turnstile burger (wife loves em). I’m the handsome guy who looks like he leaves women happy and satisfied.

We have access to parking across the street from Hopsquad a short 860 yard walk to the Zebra gate.  Pick a game and I'll get myself over to Turnstile.  We go to Hopsquad periodically, but usually just walk straight to Q2.

The bus picks up along Burnet and takes you straight to the stadium. We parked along the street close to one of the places where the bus picked up. Then hopped on the bus after the game and went right back. No problems.

I'm assuming Hopsquad is just ass to ankles on gameday. What is Turnstile like?

Theres enough outdoor space that it isn’t too bad. The line to order was awful early on, but that has greatly improved once they opened the window for ordering. If the crowd is really big, they’ll open a third beer stand.

Also +1 on the burgers @Brisketexan. Big fan of the verde melt.

Yeah, the setup now is pretty nice.  They draw a crowd, but it's rarely overwhelming/assholes-to-elbows, and there are often two ordering lines (at the main building and the drive-thru building).  All the burgers are good, the fries are actually pretty good, and they have salt and vinegar tots that we sometimes get and share.  I do wish their beer selection wasn't what you get at every damned new bar in the world: 579 variations on IPAs and beers that look and taste like used motor oil, and 2 lagers and/or pilsners, one of which is flavored with some damned fruit, so really, you only have one beer choice if you don't drink IPAs.  But hey, everyone seems to love IPAs these days, so I know I'm the odd-man out.

We live near Steck.  We can take Steck to Burnet and be parked in 10 minutes.  2 minute walk to Turnstile.  And from there, 8-10 minute walk to our gate at Q2.  Post-game, we're usually home within 25 minutes of getting up from our seats at Q2.  It's just such a great setup for us, and we're so happy the season has kicked of again.

@Brisketexan and @skittlebrau do y'all pay for parking or get there early enough to get street parking?

Pay. It’s $20 cash to park in the lot behind the Jack in the Box. So long as you get there at least an hour before game time, there are spots. We like the certainty, and it’s just $20.
