The Kramer stop is less than 1/2 mile from the property.  I really depends on if there is access to the property from the north side off of Braker.

I imagine  at least some pedicabs will be out there, although that's a long push from downtown.   Plus all the electric scooters.

The train station is irrelevant.  Until the CoA bonds a 2nd set of tracks ($2B) and new rolling stock (with more than 2 cars per train)($500M) then rail can bring about 2000 people max in the 120 minutes before/after kickoff, provided 100% of all existing stock was 100% dedicated to mckalla service for 180 minutes before and after each match.

Not to mention that the Kramer station is probably moving further north and away from the stadium site to accommodate the new employment center anchored by Schwab. That said, Cap Metro and PSV will find a way to put a new stop directly in front of the stadium.

As to the discussion surrounding affordable housing on the site, there's a lot of misinformation about what that looks like these days. It's not government subsidized housing. Without going into all of the details, it's typically built through a tax credit program where corporate entities invest in income restricted housing in lieu of paying a portion of their federal tax obligation. It's indistinguishable from market rate housing and oftentimes includes market rate units.

So ... it's 'affordable' to the developers.

Kind of. Income restricted units bring in less because rent amounts are correspondingly restricted. So, essentially the corporate tax credit investment in the form of equity for a development makes up the delta between what market rate rents would bring in and what affordable rent rates bring in. Developers make their money through a developer fee which is a portion of total development costs, and that developer fee is usually the same if it's an affordable development, market rate or mixed. That's a simple way of describing it.

50 acres on Gracy Farms Lane - about 1/2 mile north of Kramer. There's a lot of ancillary office development slated for the surrounding area too.

is it that plot of land adjacent to their building right now?  right behind IBM? north bounded by gracy farms?  sounds like that area's got the potential to turn into a legacy west type of development in terms of business density.

The walk from the existing rail station to mckalla is not a nice one. Big street with lots of traffic, non existent sidewalk in some places, and it's industrial. Oh and beer on your walk isn't going to happen.

Wanna make a bet? :)

Travis County might challenge the tax-exempt status of the new MLS stadium.

Travis County commissioners unanimously voted Tuesday to “authorize the county attorney to preserve the county’s right to challenge the tax-exempt status of the stadium company’s use of city property” and “pursue negotiations with the city and other local taxing entities on expectations for preserving taxable value in th redevelopment of publicly owned real estate.”

Ann Kitchen, council liaison on this topic to the Travis County taxation board.....

You had one fucking job Ann!  Seriously, is there anything this woman can't fuck up.  Every time I say her name out loud, I say it in that Joe Pesci voice from "Casino" when he says, "I mean, this broad could fuck up a cup of coffee..."

It'll do. AFAIK its a different scheme than any other major pro team in Texas, and its not UT, A&M, Tech, TCU, UH, or Baylor. I vaguely recall the Mavericks being primary green in the 80s, but they are pretty squarely blue/white now. FC Dallas Burn is red, Dynamo is that weird orange. Not sure how about the tree thing. It looks cool, and I'm rather fond of badass ancient live oaks, but it doesn't scream austin to me. The Portland Timbers is an axe, so at least its not a different tree. They probably could have kept that Crew yellow, but I can see why they might want to rebrand.

It's not bad at all.  The problem as others have said is that it doesn't really say "Austin" to anybody outside our town looking at it.  I like the explanation and it's kinda even got a Game of Thrones banner thing going on.  But I had to read the whole thing twice to get it and I know damn near everything about Austin and football.

I'm sure Adler and Kitchen will think the 11 leave represent the City and CLub's love for our 10 council members and 1 mayor.

The Treaty Oak throwback is nice. I know Seattle's green is more XBOX and Portland's is darker, but still, I would've liked to see a main color unique across MLS. Suppose that's hard to do with 23 teams.

Yellow is the most unique color in the league, as the primary color anyway, but I think it's good to leave that behind, in case Columbus wants to start a new version of the Crew.  I would've been happy with just about any normal soccer color scheme as long as it didn't use red and/or blue.

the austin football club wears burnt orange and plays on saturday.  this despicable abortion hand-delivered by ohio-trash carpetbaggers will destroy this city, and all of you—ALL OF YOU—have blood on your hands.

Not the first time it has happened. Houston is San Jose, but I won't hate this team nearly as much as the dynamo
