My dad (RIP) was probably the biggest damn Longhorn fan and he still burnt a lot of his UT gear on the driveway after we lost to Arkansas when I was a kid. Lighter fluid. For a while there, we weren’t invited to game watches at peoples houses. But it’s all good. Bitch of it is and most of y’all know this he died 10/05/05 so he missed our greatest season since he was at UT with DKR 35 years prior. He’d be right up in this thread. Best thing was finding all the copies of faxes on letterhead (in a box in his gun safe after he passed away) that he had faxed to Mack Brown telling him was a sorry sack of shit he was for not winning the big 12. Lmao.

He sounded like he knew how to party hard.

People want to make fun of Luke on that play, but Cook was god awful there. Him sticking his facemask into a blade of grass is pretty much the reason that is a TD. CB (Thompson?) is terrible. Safety needs his head up (Thompson).  Secondary was pretty much uniformly ass on that play.

Yep. Obviously Brock needs to make the tackle. Jones didn’t do Jack. Dunn was poor. Cook was the primary problem though.

Not only did Cook dive head first into the grass, but he missed inside allowing Evans to bounce out. If he misses to the outside, he forces the runner inside and makes that a much easier tackle. Or if he just makes contact, that’s another half step for his fellow defenders to get better leverage.

Pretty sure it was Dunn at CB. If he does his job, it’s a 3-4 yard gain at best. Get off the block.

This is a play in which you can’t blame PK. DBs need to make the play when it’s there. This happened way too often. It’s not just making/missing it is about bettering your teammates chances to make plays.

If you truly learn how to play LBer, then in situations like this, you have reasonable expectation that the outside force does his job so you play inside-out without being overly aggressive to the outside. You do see Brock staying inside but then once Evans bounces out, he’s a little too much on the inside hip which ultimately allows Evans to break loose.

The long Kansas run of similar fame is similar in this sense. The first issue on that play is Cook running right upfield and creating a seam with the play happening right at him. If he does anything close to correct, that’s probably not a big play.

Team football. Do your job.

Out of all the stats you can look at to say a coach is bad, this one is near the bottom.

Really? And you then go on and compare this to NFL coaches? Not that they always lost when trailing at half-time, but mostly. Which was the opposite of the point. Good work, there.

But wait! There's more... I wrote that the fact that being behind at the half meant a loss was troubling, not that it was proof 7even is - or was - a bad coach, that's your bias.

Lastly, though not leastly, you go back to NFL to poke fun at the very idea of half-time adjustments, as though Pros don't want to listen to coaches in the locker-room, they just want to go pee, or at least relax with a cigar and a Fresca.

That's the ticket, that's your adjustment. Don't change what you're doing, just let your half-time relaxation wash over you, and enjoy being buttfucked the rest of the game.

You said "The most troubling fact of Steve's HC career, to me, is that he had never won a game in which he trailed at halftime."

There are much, much more troubling facts than that.

Wouldn’t 4-8 to 11-1 in year 3 be completely unheard of?

In order for next year to be the year, we need to be at 9-10 wins this year.

Saban went 8-5 the year before the year, and lost to good Roy Williams in the Cotton Bowl leaving his bowl record at 2-4.

Is that a fact? It seems like it's just your shitty opinion. Go ahead and list your much more troubling stats, so we can compare my opinion of the most troubling fact with your stats, factual or not, mere opinion or otherwise.

Interesting... while I was editing (shown below) that and addressing your changing your previous use of "stats" to be "facts", some timer or response expired and the system refused to allow my edit. I stand by it, though, so here it is:

EDIT: uh-oh, here you are in mid-edit, changing your own stats into facts... but still not able to mention them. Seems like something a chicken fucker would do.

Yep. We're much improved and only losing 3 games this season. I don't know which 3 but that's it. Guessing Alabama then 2 of either OU, OSU, Baylor, KSU

All our dudes who needed to get in the motherfucka got in or got recruited over so let's fucking go.

Yeah.

Cook is unblocked and whiffs.

Brockermeyer can't wrap up and take him to the ground.

Jones makes a nice tackle, but unforunately its Brockermeyer.

Overshown takes a bad angle.

J. Thompson can't get off his block.

Foster just doesn't care.

6 players had a chance to stop that from not only being a 1st down but also a TD and all 6 failed.

This gif is legit art.  No UT fan will blame the same player because there are so many interpretations as to who fucked up.

On balance, better. It could be made worse overnight if a group of players would demand that we change our team colors to 'Chartreuse and Plaid' and start holding vigils.

This is my point about the LBs looking worse then they really are. Luke isn’t great by any means, but if Cook sets an edge this play is dead. Luke is in good position, until Cook dives at Evans’ feet. Dunn gets off the block and sets an any kind of edge and it’s probably a couple yard gain. Jones and Luke are there for the cut back. If Thompson had his head up, instead of being happy to push a WR backwards, this is a couple yard gain. Luke still should make this tackle, but it never should have been a RB with NFL talent vs a walk-on 1 on 1.

I can’t fault Overshown too much on this play. He is lined up between the hash and numbers on the far side and looks like he gets held slightly on the play and Thompson cuts him off.

Yeah, man, let's get into a dick measuring contest about who is a better Texas fan on a fan forum. That will be both original and satisfying.

"I'm a better fan that you because I like the coach, any coach, running the program at Texas and you and your ilk have the audacity to be objective about that role. Meanies. That's hurtful. He's good at recruiting! At Texas even! People like him! You're not a fan!"

You have zero idea what my level of involvement of support and interest is in UT athletics. Being a "true fan" means more than being a blind loyalist for whoever the current coach of the program is. That's as far as I'll take this silliness and I've grown bored with the bleaters who can't have an objective conversation about the program outlook and coach expectations. You aren't worth the fucking bullet.

Also, no one vetoed a DC choice for Sarkisian, you uninformed threadshitter.

My bad on DC. I did not go back and look at the time lines on various coaching hires. I remembered we worked down the DC list past the top few choices and the Stoops fiasco ... and I shot from the hip.  I'll take the hit.

Not better fan. Just a fan, or not? Binary choice. Better or worse. Good or bad. Positive of Negative.

All the decisions on this program are made by others. My choice is to support them, or not.  Loyalist? Yes. Blindly? No.

I know from this board you have are involved, generally supportive and interested in UT athletics.  Thanks for that.

"With the utmost respect and reverence, Don @closetojumping. If the first 2 likes you get on a post are from @satyanash and @JFKFC, you may want to look inward and allow a little self doubt to creep in."

You act like this is a given. BJ Foster’s best days were behind him. Same with Keondre Coburn.

Hell, half of Herman’s signing classes had their best days in high school.
