Texas A&M Recruiting 2025: The Land of Melk & No Money

Regarding Luicci "facilatating" a meeting between the two:

That would such an insult to Elko and an absurdity to Campbell that it's hard to figure out what William sees in his mind happening at this meeting.

I compared it to the notion of getting a bunch of Aggie football dads and stellar Aggie players from the past to hold a BBQ and buck up Calzeda when he was getting devoured behind that pitiful OL.

Maybe it's their culture of believing all Aggies stick together and respect the voice of their elder Aggies. These meetings are pathetic ideas that would result in shuddering cringes from the participants being invited.

Billy just wants to be seen as having clout. Oddly, within that cult, he does. As does the dweeb with the bowtie, the bulbous-nosed buffoon John Sharp, and Karen the cleat-chasing bag woman.

He even talks down to his audience as though he's a guru. Only there.

If a dog walks across his lawn but turns to cross the sidewalk and his wife asks what he's looking at:

Honey, what're you looking at?

A goose has the ball. He's to midfield and could score!...............Ball at the Aggie 28 yardline. Check that. It's at the Aggie 24 yard line...(Hears yokel-sounding Elmendorf in his head) I think that's a dog, Dave...Yes. Reveille for a four yard carry.  Looks like a timeout on the field. If you live in Katy and need insurance, Curt Perineum, valedictorian of the class of '95, invites all Aggies to come see him to whoop up a car, home, or maroon automobile policy. Curt says, Gig 'Em Aggies......

You know you’re a few years out of date yet? Karen doesn’t have any clout anymore and the bow tie left aTm a decade ago.

I was just going for the symmetry, bro. You’re overthinking it.

Karen was a big deal. A BIG DEAL!

I can’t imagine how jealous Billy Liucci was of Norman for a couple of years there.

"Let this thing play out because Elko understands the importance of getting it turned around overnight"  re read your shit occasionally Billy

The dumbest poster on TexAgs, which, I believe is the bar for dumb on the internet, "understands the importance" of their defensive woes. It's finding the remedy that's hard whether it take the oxymoronic time frame of "playing out overnight.'

Seems like oxymornonic should be applied to Dreamy Brauny. Oh well.

The aggies really hate him. I can't even remember why, but I do not believe they will allow him to be hired.

Blamed him for losing Anthony Hill.

He's done great at Georgia Tech, and I think he was part of the Duke assistant crew that all got furious at Elko for doing the "I'm not fucking leaving" speech then slinking out at midnight after getting a higher offer.

his position group regressed while in college station, he kind of sucked at recruiting and strikes me as annoying as shit. he also might be the random guy that's better coordinating a defense than teaching a position group. also who cares, life is suffering.

The aggies should just bite the bullet, fire Elko, and hire Dillingham. Dude has the perfect punchable face for an aggie coach.

He would just quiet quit like the rest of them spout a tagline like get your licks in now, we run the state, aint how it used to be, we are a real program now.

And be set for life.

I thought Dillingham was classy.

That son of bitch can coach. Imagine if we had Scataboo. Holy shit. That dude is a tank. Their WR's suck, but their RB is a stud.

I really thought he was meh before the game because looking at his stats he had been held for under 100 yards like 5 games, but he turned it on against us.

Bud Elliott, while he looks like a Florida choad, has made a valid point before on paycheck jobs. Coach goes into a terrible situation, knowing it’s a terrible situation, but does it anyway for generational money. I think House has basically killed this philosophy, but there a few big schools willing to eat a huge buyout.

aggy still paying Jimbo + buying out Elko + finding enough money for Dillingham would be financial malfeasance at a public university, but hey maybe Sharp at 74+ gets Phil Knight kind of desperate.

Dilly is at his dream job

I’m interested in seeing how desperate programs get over the next few years if Dillingham strings a few more winning-to-big-time-winning seasons together.

ASU has money, right? The guy would like to coach there for 40+ years if you believe his interviews. I tend to buy it because ASU to him is like Texas to us.

So why leave? What if some other place in the Big 2 with money decides to go nuts out of desperation? Say Florida?

I don’t know. I actually buy the idea of that guy sticking to ASU if he keeps winning and has choices.

Despite my trepidation about CFB becoming the NFL, there are stories like this that remind me that maybe not. Recruits still have dream schools and college coaches recognize the need for a different culture with players from 18-23.

I'm persuaded about the rights of players to transfer as do coaches and other students. The notion that players are getting paid actual NIL values is laughable, but at least the paying of players is above board now.

I'm sure all were dying to know the current state of my opinion of the shift to NIL.

It's all still in progress, but Dillingham's story is a good one. I'd like to see Arizona State have the resources to keep that story going.

I get the appeal of more money but at some point a lot of money, even if more is available, is enough, especially if other factors are in favor.

Dillingham seems to fit this bill. He's young, got more money and success then many coaches twice his age. He could thrive on $6M a year with a stable home, coaching and fan support with reasonable expectations.
