So she got ran over by a brush hog? If that’s the case, how out of it do you need to be in order to not hear the tractor dragging it?

Shit happens to animals all the time during the rut.

It's a hell of an advertisement for the reliability of the all new Dr Fieldmower.

Homeless woman dies after being run over by weed mower in California

An organization that supports the unhoused and a family are heartbroken after a landscaping contractor hired by the city of Modesto allegedly drove over and killed a woman who was laying in a field of overgrown vegetation.

“I feel terrible because they killed my daughter,” said Christopher Chavez, the father of 27-year-old Christine, who was unhoused and died Saturday, the day when workers driving a John Deere tractor with a pull-behind mower were cleaning up Beard Brook Park.

Christopher said that he immediately went to the spot where his daughter died after learning about her death.

“There were many pieces of (her remains) around there and I called the police,” Chavez said. “I went there and I still have pieces of bones, like pieces of her skull and some teeth. It’s terrible.”

At Tuesday’s city council meeting, a representative of the organization We Are Not Invisible addressed city leaders, saying that Chavez’s father will not get the opportunity to say goodbye to his daughter at a proper funeral.

Modesto Police Spokeswoman Sharon Bear said city officials believe it is a “terrible accident,” and a detective has returned to the scene to make sure they didn’t miss any details.

At the family home, Christine’s mother and siblings have been gathering to grieve and share their heartbreak and frustration.

“I am sad for what happened to my daughter, and we want justice for the way that she died,” said Josefina Chavez, Christine’s mother.

Christine’s sister, Rosalinda, recalled the moment she saw several remains of her deceased sibling. “…They left big (pieces) of her all over the place, just covered up with the grass. We have to go see the place because we wanted some kind of closure, and to be right there, looking at the ground, and then all of a sudden, seeing (pieces) of her, is horrible.”

E & J Gallo Winery, which owns Beard Brook Park, issued a statement, saying, “Gallo acquired the Beard Brook Park property in Modesto on Friday, July 7, 2023. On Saturday, July 8, 2023, a landscaping contractor was hired to perform weed abatement and fire prevention services. There was an accident at approximately 12:00 p.m. involving the contractor’s tractor and an individual who was not visible and laying in a tall, weeded area. The contractor immediately contacted the Modesto Police Department, and upon arrival, MPD officers declared the individual was deceased.”

OK, If you want justice for your daughter that was sleeping in an overgrown field, WTF didn't you let her live with you or find her a place? Because you couldn't make money off of it and you found out E&J Gallo bought the land the day before? No, that certainly couldn't be the reason.

I don't think this is a grotesque kind of way to die but just shitty that some crazy bitch maybe killed friends and family by feeding them poisonous mushrooms.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/3-dead-wild-mushrooms-family-lunch-australia-erin-patterson-investigated/

Australian police on Wednesday were trying to figure out how three people died and a fourth became critically ill after apparently eating wild mushrooms at a family lunch.

Homicide detectives have been investigating the case. Police have interviewed the woman, identified by the BBC as Erin Patterson, who they say cooked the meal at her home on July 29 but didn't become ill herself. Police released her without filing any charges but say she remains a suspect.

Patterson told media outside her home in the town of Leongatha, in Victoria state, that she didn't know what had happened.

"I didn't do anything," she told Network Nine on Monday. "I loved them and I'm devastated they're gone."

Patterson declined to answer questions about what meals were served to which guests or the origin of the mushrooms.

Victoria Police Det. Inspector Dean Thomas said it wasn't clear what type of mushrooms the guests had eaten, but their symptoms were consistent with those from a death cap, a particularly deadly variety.

He said it would take some time to determine what happened and police were keeping an open mind.

"It could be very innocent but, again, we just don't know," Thomas said.

Patterson had been hosting her in-laws, Gail and Don Patterson, both aged 70. Both died at area hospitals. Also at the lunch were Gail Patterson's sister Heather Wilkinson, 66, who died, and husband Ian Wilkinson, 68, a Baptist pastor. He remains in a critical condition in hospital, awaiting a liver transplant, BBC News reported.

Thomas said the woman who cooked the meal was separated from her husband but police had been told their relationship was amicable. Her children were also at home during the lunch but did not eat the same meal, police said.

Detectives searched the woman's home on Saturday and took several items. The Sydney Morning Herald reported that police were also conducting forensic tests on a food dehydrator they had found at a nearby landfill to see if it was linked to the case.

Those people obviously were not well versed in confined-space training.  Rule 1, never go into a confined space without knowing exactly what the conditions are.  Granted, I doubt they had their handy gas sniffer with them, but if you come up on a deep hole and realize there's a dead dog and a dead buddy in there... that's your clue that something is most awry.  Never ever ever go in after someone else unless you want to be another casualty.

https://www.asiaone.com/asia/man-thailand-goes-rampage-temple-gets-impaled-buddha-statue

A man in Thailand who went on a violent rampage at a temple in the Chonburi province died after being impaled by a Buddha statue.

On Feb 27, the 49-year-old man, who went by the name Ek, had taken methamphetamine in the temple with his friend - a monk at the temple who goes by the name Best, reported Thai media outlet Thaiger.

Ek then attacked Best with a fluorescent tube. While the latter ran away to seek help, Ek went on to smash statues in the temple, before fleeing into the main hall.

When the police arrived at the temple, Ek had locked all the doors and windows in the main hall, preventing officers from entering.

When they broke down the door and entered the main hall, the police found Ek lying in a pool of blood, with a Buddha statue pierced through his chest.

According to investigations, he had tried to climb and deface the largest statue in the hall but slipped and fell, landing on the sharp end of another statue below, South China Morning Post reported on Wednesday (March 13).

The statue's head had pierced his heart and lungs.

An incredible story. Glad she didn't die but damn. Well worth the read.

https://www.kuow.org/stories/cougar-attack-washington-state-cyclists

An autopsy of the wild cat revealed it was between nine months to a year old. It was healthy, and its body showed no signs of physical distress. It did not have rabies.

Why the wild cat attacked Bergere will remain unknown.

The autopsy solved one mystery, however: Where Bergere's earring disappeared to.

Sgt. Carlo Pace of Washington Fish & Wildlife Police asked Bergere if she was missing an earring. They had found one in the cougar's belly.

Did she want it back? Sgt. Pace asked.

“Absolutely,” she said. Bergere said she would hang it, as a souvenir of sorts, and a testament to her friends’ courage.

“All these ladies came up with superhuman strength,” she said. “They’re teeny ladies, and I know that the Fish & Wildlife shot the final shot to kill it. But these ladies killed that cougar with their bare hands and no weapons. I’m eternally grateful to each one of them.”

Dead at nursing home. Alive at funeral home. Dead at hospital.

https://abcnews.go.com/US/woman-believed-dead-hospice-care-found-alive/story?id=110792361

The "unusual" incident began Monday morning, according to Lancaster County Chief Deputy Ben Houchin. The woman had been transported from a nursing home, where she had been declared dead at around 9:44 a.m. local time, to the Butherus-Maser & Love Funeral Home in Lincoln, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities responded to the funeral home after an employee noticed the woman was breathing and "instantly called 911" at approximately 11:44 a.m. Monday, according to Houchin.

Funeral home staff conducted CPR on the woman -- identified by authorities as Constance Glantz of Lincoln -- and she was transported to a local hospital alive, Houchin said.

Glantz ultimately died at the hospital at approximately 4 p.m. Monday, Houchin said. Her family has been notified, he said.

Missing mother found dead inside 16-foot-long python after it swallowed her whole in Indonesia

A woman has been found dead inside the belly of a snake after it swallowed her whole in central Indonesia, a local official said Saturday, marking at least the fifth person to be devoured by a python in the country since 2017.

The husband of 45-year-old Farida and residents of Kalempang village in South Sulawesi province discovered her on Friday inside the reticulated python, which measured around five meters (16 feet).

The mother-of-four had gone missing Thursday night and failed to return home, forcing a search effort, village head Suardi Rosi told AFP.

Her husband "found her belongings... which made him suspicious. The villagers then searched the area. They soon spotted a python with a large belly," said Suardi.

"They agreed to cut open the python's stomach. As soon as they did, Farida's head was immediately visible."

Farida was found fully clothed inside the snake.

Graphic video published by TMZ appeared to show the snake being cut open in a wooded area while more footage posted by the Daily Mail appeared to show the woman's body being carried in a blanket past distressed villagers.

Boy, 10, crushed to death by 340lb foster mom 'after she sat on him for misbehaving'

Jennifer Wilson has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after her 340lb frame caused the death of 10-year-old Dakota Levi Stevens in Berrien County, Michigan, court documents say

Dakota Levi Stevens was allegedly crushed to death by foster mom Jennifer Wilson (Image: Handout)

A 10-year-old boy was crushed to death after his 340lb foster mom sat on top of him after he "acted up", according to court documents.

Jennifer Wilson was apprehended in Berrien County, Michigan, and could face up to six years behind bars. Court filings say she informed the police that Dakota Levi Stevens had fled earlier in the day and she discovered him at a neighbor's residence.

According to the court papers, the foster mom claimed Dakota began to misbehave when they returned home, throwing himself on the ground outside her house. It is alleged that she sat on Dakota while contacting his caseworker, during which time the boy screamed and eventually ceased moving.

Wilson confessed to the police that she initially believed the child was pretending until she rolled him over and noticed his eyelids were unusually pale. The foster mother disclosed to investigators that she sat on Dakota for approximately five minutes.

Dakota weighed 91 pounds, while Wilson tipped the scales at 340 pounds. The Department of Child Services had assigned the child to her care just one month prior to the incident, reports the Mirror US.

Your note prior to the article can't be stressed enough. I've lost a friend who decided on a solo trek into the Rockies. I lost contact with mutual friends but last I heard his body was never even found.

Emergency locator beacons are not that expensive, not that heavy, and readily available.

Anyone that ventures out on foot or vehicles to extremely remote locations needs to be mindful of this simple, affordable, life saving device.

And WATER.

It's super easy to be immobilized through a relatively mild injury. Sprained ankle.

Water, water filtration and Emergency locator beacons. That a couple of protein bars will get you through 99% of what you might face.

One of the guys at work told me a story of guy that was hiking and got lost or hurt. No phone signal but he had a small drone. Sent his phone up with it and it sent the email or text so he could be found.

Drones would be awesome. Years ago, I went mountain biking with my young son near Tucson. I led and stopped at some point. He continued on and I went to follow and the trail forked after about 100 yards. Some other mountain bikers came by after awhile and I told them what happened. They went to look for him while I waited at the fork. The two mountain bikers split up and found him, but the other mountain biker (who didn't find him) disappeared. Overall, a pretty fucked up day. Mom would not have been happy if we had to call EMS.

Yeah the lack foster screening vs lack of fosters available is a real damn beating in this country.

I'm real temped to CR the hell out of this post. Instead I'll try a positive tact... kinda

It would be great to see the wealthier and healthier Christian communities come together to help address the issue of lack of fosters in the name of Jesus.

I’d bet almost anything that a disproportionate percentage of the better foster families are Christian. In our community, we’ve probably known a dozen good foster families over almost 25 years, and I have a hard time thinking of one that isn’t a Christian household. The vast majority of them have Native American foster kids, and several have tried adopting them. I can only recall two that were successful because the Lakota tribes don’t want to release their members’ children to white people. One of the successful adoptions involved two boys who were half Mexican, so that may have something to do with the adoption being approved.

Brazilian singer dies from electrocution after ‘hugging wet fan’ at concert

Quote

A Brazilian musician died from being electrocuted during a live performance on Saturday after he allegedly hugged a wet fan.

Ayres Sasaki, 35, was performing at the Solar Hotel in Salinópolis, Brazil, on 13 July, when he touched the soaking-wet fan. The contact between the two triggered a fatal electric shock.

While it is still unclear why the fan was wet, Salinópolis Police have said they are investigating the incident. The Pará Civil Police said witnesses have provided statements and authorities have requested reports from experts, reported Brazilian magazine Istoé Gente.

While most reports suggest that Sasaki died after hugging the fan, a report by Brazilian news outlet Diário do Pará said Sasaki was playing his guitar at the time he was electrocuted.

The Solar Hotel has shared a statement on social media, saying that they are fully cooperating with the investigation into Sasaki’s death.

“We are fully dedicated to providing support to his family and taking the necessary measures. We reaffirm our commitment to fully cooperating with the competent authorities for the proper clarification of the events,” the hotel wrote in a post on Instagram.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with Ayres Sasaki’s family and friends at this difficult time.”

Sasaki’s aunt, Rita Matos, told Istoé Gente, “We are contacting people who were with him at the moment to understand how everything happened. We will gather all the information in a statement that we will release to the press”.

Sasaki got married 11 months ago and was also an urban planner, in addition to his singing career.

Sasaki’s wife Mariana posted a message on her Instagram Stories, thanking people for their messages of support.

“I would like to thank you for every message of affection and comfort, for every prayer during this difficult time that we are going through,” Mariana wrote, reported Istoé Gente.

“I haven’t been able to read all the messages yet, but as I feel better, I will respond to each one. Thank you.”

Grandfather Fatally Attacked by Swarm of Bees on His Ranch
July 27, 2024 by David Jones

A tragic incident unfolded in Bedias, Texas, when a 75-year-old grandfather was fatally attacked by a swarm of bees while working on his ranch. Bryce Smith was operating a bulldozer to clear trees on his property, located approximately 90 miles north of Houston, when he inadvertently disturbed a bee hive.

Smith was stung over 60 times on his face and neck during the attack. A fellow worker who witnessed the incident quickly moved Smith indoors and dialed 911. Unfortunately, Smith succumbed to his injuries before emergency responders could arrive on the scene.

Grimes County Justice of the Peace Judge Chris Acord mourned the loss of Smith, describing him as a respected member of the Bedias community. Acord praised Smith as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and expressed his shock at the severity of the incident.

Experts believe that the bees involved in the attack may have been Africanized honey bees, known for their aggressive behavior when threatened. Juliana Rangel, a honeybee scientist at Texas A&M AgriLife research, suggested that Africanized bees are more likely to feel threatened by external stimuli compared to their European counterparts.

Rangel strongly advised against attempting to remove hives without professional assistance. She recommended contacting a professional beekeeper who is equipped to handle live bee removals. The Texas Apiary Inspection Service also provided advice for those under attack by bees, suggesting they cover their heads and faces, seek safety, and then call 911.
