I hit the newish (maybe 9 months?) North Deckhand location to sit at the bar and watch the Nebraska-Northwestern game this afternoon (poor Huskers!).  Good place.

Much larger store and it has a better bar/sports bar vibe than the previous converted Dairy Queen/Taco Bell location (just around the block from prior location off of 45 in Round Rock.)  Had a big Jellyfish IPA and an order of Salt & Pepper Calamari.  The squeeze bottle of hot sauce they serve with it was kick-ass.  I would have been fine with the hot sauce and a bowl of chips!

Carry on.

C&R Surf and Turf in Cedar Park is really good, I highly recommend.

Agreed.  It's also our go-to for crawfish when in season.

Salt Traders has always been pretty solid.

Not sure about other locations, but I went to the one near Rollingwood once and it had a douchey vibe.

While not "casual", I don't want to start a separate thread.  My wife wants to go to Truluck's for our anniversary next weekend.  Is there any significant difference between the two locations (Arboretum and Downtown), other than ease of parking?  Different ambience, etc.?

If you haven't been to the new location downtown, I highly recommend it. They did a great job with the build out and it's a fantastic setting. Ask for a table by the window if you make a reservation. And if you get there early enough, hit the bar for a drink or two before hand.

Yes, Downtown is more formal and dated. I prefer the Arboretum, but it depends.

New location? Guess I need to check it out.

They moved last year to the new building constructed on the old Sullivan's lot.

Anyone know what's up with the Deckhands in South Austin changing to Ocean Blue Oyster Bar? Menu looks almost identical to Deckhands still. Dan and Fran's breakup maybe?

We went to Truluck's, it was OK.  She liked her dish, that's what mattered.  I got a steak (I'm allergic to almost all seafood) which was decidedly mediocre.

I think that Tarzan sold it to somebody else.  Time to focus on the north store.  I really enjoy sitting at that bar watching football and eating salt and pepper calamari with their crack sauce!
