so yeah, if asking for people to stop repeatedly being cruel to me for no goddamn reason is the most derka thing ever then you can consider this thread derka’d. this shit is not a joke, at all. id like to see you have a child who SUFFERS from mental illness, who doesn’t bother or attack or insult anybody, yet who gets mercilessly bullied with the endorsement of his teachers, principals, and coaches (bob and immamac), and then come tell me what a weak ass pussy your own mentally ill kid is. laugh at him and talk shit about it. then when he’s 14 years old and cutting himself and you walk into a bathroom that’s covered in blood, and you see that your child has mutilayed himself because of the pain of being bullied for no reason, THEN you can tell me how funny all of this is. fucking asshole.

Nobody has said shit about you on this thread in months. You literally reopened that can of worms on your own for no reason.

To reiterate RedFive’s question- what can you point to that Ewers does better than Arch right now? It ain’t taking care of the ball, reading defenses or calmness in the pocket.

my post wasn't saying ewers is way better than arch. but to answer the question, Dr Pepper commercials I would guess. my honest opinion is sark needs to earn his paycheck and get this offense back on track even if he makes a change at qb. I hope ewers comes back strong cause his experience counts in big games. but if he sucks against vandy got to get the hook then cross our fingers arch is the real deal this year. this team can make a run especially if we get max qb play.

for no reason? i was treated horribly last year (and for more than a decade on all of these sites) simply for having an opinion that people didn’t like. only guess what? just like all of those other times, the people who said cruel and hateful things to me now agree with the very takes which inspired their vitriol! you say that’s no reason?

this is very simple: if someone here was a recovering alcoholic, or had cancer, or was a  known rape survivor, NOBODY here would tolerate people making cruel pot shots about those diseases and circumstances simply because that person has a differing opinion. but when it comes to me and all of my well known illnesses, maladies, and tragedies, it’s just open season on me if i have an opinion you don’t like. it’s cruel, and it should be deemed unacceptable, not something you participate in and laugh at.

i should not have to explain this to adults, and there is honestly something wrong with you if you still don’t get why this stuff is so fucked up.

Starts at the freeze frame. It's probably between a quarter and half a second. Either way, not enough time to get the ball out unless he starts the throw the moment Bolden breaks (about half a second prior to the freeze frame), in which case it's maybe a 4-5 yard gain and everyone is bitching that he's a pussy for throwing it short of the sticks.

That angle shows you absolutely nothing. You need to look at the end zone angle.  At 2:30 Quinn is set, Bolden is breaking at the 28, 11 is on Bond on the crosser, and the CB is yards outside of Banks. Ball should be coming out there. Bolden only needs the 33. He is going to get it. You can see Quinn come off Bolden and look to Bond around 2:31 with Bolden all by himself on the 32 yard line. He gets hit milliseconds later. It’s pretty clear Ewers passed on the slant and went to Bond. Why I don’t know

He doesn’t know he’s about to get obliterated. He had no idea that CB was on him until he was hit. I’ve seen every QB at some point in their career get hit like that, hall of famers and scrubs. It happens. What I’m struggling with here is the strange notion that arch would have done fine or probably better like we didn’t see him play two series. For years this board has shit all over Sark for being a loser, indecisive, “he is what his record says he is” and just a plethora of other horse shit. Since then Texas has won a big 12 title, been to a college football playoff, face fucked all those scrub big 12 teams on the way out of that garbage conference, and recruited lights out while keeping an elite staff. He now has benched Quinn in the middle of a huge game showing that he isn’t scared to try some shit, and hopefully put to rest the “he has no balls” to make a tough call. Arch played, he was in for like 18 plays across two drives. He missed a wide open receiver underneath trying to force a ball, was sacked trying to take the corner on a better athlete when he should have thrown it away and just like Quinn…strip sacked in a pocket that was violently pushed around most of the night. What makes anybody think a RS freshman with almost no experience in a moment that big against an elite opponent does anything but fuck up massively??? I feel like his name being manning is fucking people up. If we had an elite running game that could take over games then I’d sit Quinn’s ass and let arch play. All day, every day. We don’t have that but we do have an elite defense that needs an offense to not make costly mistakes while the qb goes through growing pains. Quinn can beat vandy, Florida, Kentucky, aggy, and from there it’s a toss up as to which version of Quinn Texas has trotting on when the conference championship games comes up. I’m glad we have arch and next year he’s going to be a stud. Next year.

a)quinn was useless at that moment. quinn was a tackling dummy.

b)arch was the highest rated qb in the country according to pro football focus in his start against mississippi state, a start which came a week after Arch scored 5 TDs in about 8 minutes, including a long TD run where he smoked the entire secondary.

you think that his last name has people overhyping him? then forget his name, and just look at him as a player. he’s a 1.000 rated HS recruit; he’s 6’4”, well built, and he can really run; he’s already shown that he can not only play but *thrive* against an SEC opponent; he’s also a real deal threat with the deep ball. all traits that quinn ewers lacks, save the HS rating.

so what’s not to understand? we’ve seen quinn for three years and we are anything but convinced that he’s the guy or even believing in his ability to become the guy. stop acting like it’s crazy for people to advocate benching quinn for arch in that moment, or for wishing that we had kept him in and let him take over the offense.

Kirby smart would have ate arch alive. Miss state’s defense is terrible. Georgia was motivated, angry and backed into a corner. I believe everything you say about what arch can be one day. I also believe he ain’t ready to step into the arena with the best defense, being ran by a great defensive mind, in college football. I’m glad you’re pumped for arch, I hope he takes Texas to places that colt and Vince couldn’t (multiple national championships). I watched him in those two series and he would have gotten his ass handed to him. They would have harassed him into multiple turnovers. I will say that every bit of this is speculation based on me watching years and years and years of football. Young QB’s that don’t have a great running game to lean on will struggle. Period.

Derka wasn't right about shit. Quinn is just a pussy, he could have carved Georgia up but instead opted to be a fucking pussy and have a bunch of mental issues instead of physical issues or restricted ability based on coverage or real collapse of pocket.

His problem was 100% @ mental one and it made for an embarrassing loss in front of the largest crowd at DKR ever and in front of everyone watching the prime time top 5 matchup on TV. He shit down his leg on the biggest stage.

The problem isn't that he can't throw or can't X Y Z the problem is he couldn't do shit because he was playing like a scared little bitch.

Maybe I use this too much but considering the source, it’s never been more appropriate,

Had he prepared all week, I still would have rather seen Arch get the experience over seeing our greatly overpaid and overrated QB shit his pants in a showcase game which proved to be a huge wasted opportunity.
QE can’t connect on a deep ball to save his life. At least Arch has a chance to.
Three weeks ago, I would have said that QE gave us the best chance to win. But, after his poor play in the last two games, I’m just ready to move on.
Maybe he turns it around. He’s running out of chances.

what’s not healthy for me is a cadre of grown ass men who take pot shots about my mental health, my weight, “how much my life sucks”, and so on, just because i have a differing opinion on a football player. that’s what affects me, and this is not unique to me, nor does it have anything to do with this message board.

people being intentionally cruel to chronically/mentally ill people for no reason is bad. period. end of story. any post on this subject that doesn’t acknowledge or defend this idea is pointless, and frankly, a little embarrassing and sad.

I'm convinced that imma and blacklab have implemented a function in this site called DerkaBot AI.  Whenever it senses engagement falling off, it posts to get people riled up.

I don’t think engagement has been an issue this week. QE is getting the full on chris simms treatment.

I have no idea how Arch would have fared. Probably would have been similar. People are being critical of Ewers performance, because everyone knows the last thing Sark wanted to do was start a QB controversy by benching Ewers. Perhaps it is just morbid curiosity to see what led Sark to this point. I do not know if the current version of Quinn can go 4-0 vs Vandy, Florida, UK, and Aggy. Just like you do not know if Arch could go 4-0 vs those teams. Your argument loses a lot of power when you say "its a toss up as to which version of Quinn". The whole reason to start Quinn over Arch is for command of the offense and consistency. If he can not deliver on those 2, what is the argument for Quinn? I am not calling for Arch to start the Vandy game. I hope Ewers looks like early season Ewers and throws for 300+ and 3 TDs. I am also in favor of a meritocracy.  If Quinn performs anywhere near what we have seen the last 2 weeks, its time for a change. To be fair, if it was any other position on the field there would not be a discussion about it. PFF gave Quinn the lowest score of his career vs Georgia. Yes, worse than OSU and TCU. He also ranks the 230th best Qb in the country and 14th in the SEC by PFF. Maybe that is a bit off, but it is pretty good indication that Quinn is not playing anywhere near where he is capable.

Based on this statement, I deduce at least 1 solution to this problem.  Another is to not let the 1% misery dominate the 99% of joy.

I hear all that, and I understand it as well. History says that RS freshman qb's have a tendency to fail when put into positions like facing oklahoma or georgia that have great defensive schemes and good players to run them. Let me state my point here as clearly as I can. I believe that even a bad version of quinn can beat the rest of our schedule, that's how confident I am in our defense and the playmakers quinn has around him. However, If for whatever reason we see bad quinn continue to show up and he appears to have just completely fallen apart then I will admit I was wrong about him and we should absolutely roll with Arch because at that point that is what's best for Texas. I just don't see Quinn completely falling apart or being so bad that Sark sits him for the rest of his career at Texas. I have been wrong before though lol.

You are severely underestimating our opponents if you think that version of Quinn is good enough to win this weekend, at Arkansas, or at A&M. Shit, Florida would be a dogfight.

It’s not fair to everyone else on this team to ask them to carry him the rest of the way either.

This isn’t a Conner vs Neto situation. We have an stronger idea of what Arch provides the offense.

Kentucky - 27
Texas A&M - 18

Vandy is the worst defense we will play over the next 5 games.

Now let me ask you a question. Do you think the bad version of Quinn the last 2 weeks is substantially better than Arch?

This is where I come in on this argument. If Texas is going to go into every game wondering what they will get out of the QB position, then I am in favor of the younger QB with a higher ceiling. The argument should not be that Texas can win despite the QB play. The odds of going 4-0 with inconsistent QB play is not very good. This is a very strange situation, where we have seen the starter fall from top 2/3 in the draft to benched in about 6 weeks. This is really up to Quinn. Vandy is 91st in pts allowed per drive, so he is not going to have a better opportunity the rest of the season to silence the critics

Exactly. As happy as I've been to have Ewers be a Longhorn, the reality is that he's a well-compensated professional athlete charged with performing to a certain standard. To varying degrees, they all are. Play well or sit.

Nobody on either of those teams you mentioned can hold a candle to a motivated mykel williams or javon walker with his motor running the way it was against Texas. They don't have kirby smart either. We aren't going to get bullied at the point of attack a bunch, our rb's/wr's arent going to tip toe, and I'm pretty certain our running game will be better against anybody not named georgia. If you think anybody in the country compares to a motivated georgia team that was embarrassed by Alabama and can't lose another game then you're crazy. It's ok to be crazy by the way lol. Sports does that to people.

Exactly. As happy as I've been to have Ewers be a Longhorn, the reality is that he's a well-compensated professional athlete charged with performing to a certain standard. To varying degrees, they all are. Play well or sit.

The other side of that is that a mere 3 seasons ago I was watching Hudson Card and Casey Thompson pretend to play the position and would have given a testicle to have a QB of Ewers quality......how quickly we forget.....

Corner disguises well but it shouldn't matter

Nothing alarming yet defender is still a ways away

Defender is about 3-4 yard away from Quinn but ball should be coming out right here to Bolden

Defender is now within 2 yards of Quinn

For some reason Quinn comes off that concept to tries and go backside to Wingo when defender is 1 yard away. I don't agree with the Parker guy on him looking at Bond on this because his head turns fully to the open field.

If Quinn gets the ball out at the point of Bolden's break if he gets hit by that defender it's most likely a roughing the passer call or he doesn't get hit at all.  He had ample time to get the ball to Bolden.

It also should be noted that every defender on the back end was bailing out to their zone drops which makes it even more crazy that he didn't hit Bolden there because there is a huge YAC potential.

The standard is the standard.

We celebrate Quinn for his contributions to Longhorn Nation. He could also become a victim of its restored expectations. Much like we got rid of Mack for failing to live up to the standards he helped to set.

Hopefully he realizes that there is no future to save himself for if he doesn’t put it all out there for the rest of the season.

You can be honest about what we have seen recently from the QB position and appreciate what Quinn has done in the past. We dont have to make this a political issue where you have to pick a side and blindly argue for it no matter what the facts are.

I'm not picking sides or blindly arguing. I'm fine starting either guy. I trust the coaches to make those decisions and think both have pretty big upside. But I also tend to agree with the sentiment of "this guy needs to pull his head out of his ass and deliver the goods". Just providing some perspective is all.

The bad version of Quinn isn't going to turn the ball over 2-3 times a game against the regular defenses we are about to face. He is risk adverse which is why so many people dislike him on this board. He, much like a lot of NFL qb's, will take the lesser gain if it's safer or easier to complete. I'm not saying Arch can't win or that I know he wouldn't be better than Quinn. I am saying that there is a ton of data that says RS freshman qb's tend to make mistakes and those mistakes are amplified when you're trying to be the savior. This team should win at least 11 games, that's a lot of pressure on a young kid who is taking over for the former starter who has won a conference title and been to the college football playoff. It's a shitty position for Sark to be in and it sucks for Arch as well, honestly. I hope Quinn reverts to form and we win out without talking about this ever again lol.

There were multiple opportunities to get the ball out and he just didn’t pull the trigger.

Watching it from the top of the stadium live, this was my complaint the whole time. QB1 was either late or didn't take what the defense gave him at all. I was highly frustrated, because in general, he sees the open play and makes the throw. Maybe UGA played faster than QB1s processor was prepared for.

QB Coach better get to overclocking, because any DC that wants to win and has any kind of speed is going to go for it with confusion and pressure. Most teams won't be able to get there with 3 or 4, so they'll bring a disguised 4th or 5th to try to make him think slowly instead of play quickly.

Really? Quinn is good for one WTF turnover every game. Now you face three top 30 defenses that you’re calling “regular” and you can’t see him turning it over once more per game?

Seems like you’re still holding onto some delusion about Quinn.

This fn play right here. Let it rip. No DB has a play on any ball to any receiver except the crosser. You see it QB1. Your arm is half cocked.
