Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet

No way.  They're SEC.  We have it on good authority that we can't hang in this conference.

Yeah that was actually until this year when Texas bought off the schedule makers and made sure we had the weakest schedule in all of college football.

Georgia was a mistake to be added and only to make sure no one questioned it…

But those smart students at Aggy figured it out much to the SECs chagrin.

I guess we each see what we want with Quinn.

I saw the same slow start, missed deep balls, should have been a stupid pick to the LB on the second drive, checking down a lot Quinn that In used to seeing.

Were his stats better? Yeah. Did he make some good throws? He did. But his inconsistencies and the ridiculousness of still not being able to throw a deep ball are not getting cured this year, if ever.

Our ceiling should be national championship this year. I truly believe we have the best team in the nation.

But I don’t think our QB can get it done.

That throw wasn’t good. It should have been an easy deep throw that Moore catches and runs in for a touchdown. Instead he had to completely slow down and almost stop the route to try and catch a ball he ultimately dropped. Even the touchdown to Golden was a bad throw off his back foot that Golden made an amazing adjustment to catch.

Ok bro.

lol… get the fuck out of here

Why is it so wrong to point out that Ewers had a couple bad throws?  I don't think anyone here was suggesting benching Ewers.  He absolutely gives us the best chance to win a title this year, but he's not perfect.  There were a few throws today he should have made but didn't.  He still sees the deep opportunities a 1/2 second later than he should. They still won going away and overall he played well.  But the margin for error won't be there come late December and early January.  He needs to hit those when he has the chance because there won't be a whole lot of them against well coached and talented teams.

He is talking about the crosser and the pass Moore dropped.

the crosser was a miss, but the pass Moore dropped can’t be counted as anything other than a drop.

100 % that is on Moore.

No, I'm talking about the pass that Ewers underthrew by 5 yards to a wide open Moore, who had to turn around while hitting the breaks and avoiding the DB. That's 3000% on Ewers because he took a walk-in TD and made it a contested catch. Yes, please keep underthrowing wide open WRs and see how it works out.

This is correct. When Sarkisian schemes up a fast WR 10 yards behind the DB, he wants the QB to throw the ball in front of the WR not 5 yards behind him. I mean the WRs and RBs make him look good a lot with their elite athleticism and ability to make people miss in space. The least he could do is deliver a good ball when they are wide fucking open.

The dude slightly slowed down and dropped it 100% through his hands with zero interference.

Was a perfect throw? No, was a solid enough throw for a 50 yard gain and maybe a touchdown, yes.

The drop is 80-100% on Moore.

I think the disconnect here is a lot of the people that critique him a ton are viewing him as a perfect recruit and 1st round draft pick. That ship sailed man. He may believe that still and that’s great. The reality is he has been injured 45 times, his elite to average switch toggles way to easy, and he’s not very fast. He’s a shell of that perfect recruit now and that’s still good enough to get us some hardware. IMO.

The drop is 100% on Moore.  Bringing the DB back into the play and forcing the WR to adjust to a ball that he should have been running under is on Ewers.  From Moore's perspective, it should have been a big play.  From Ewer's perspective, it should have been a walk in touchdown.

I’m sure he’s said in here that Ewers needing a perfect pocket to complete passes is a problem, this is the WR equivalent of that.

To be fair, watching the nfl does throw people off pretty bad. The wr’s in the nfl are so good that most fans don’t even realize how often the qb messes up the throw or doesn’t get it close and those guys adjust to make the play. Ohio state and Oklahoma have recruited a ton of those guys who make the qb look better than he is over the years. The evidence is in the nfl currently. Hell those bama wr’s made Mac jones look like a first rounder lol.

I suppose that's possible, but in my junior varsity world I think a ball that hits a reciever in the hands but doesn't result in a completion is the fault of the receiver.

I’m just hoping he somehow gets the pocket presence we saw against Michigan back.

He never steps into the pocket and have to find the next read and make a play. It’s either perfectly there and open or he stands still and gets sacked.

Arch is still green but he already has a nice feel for the pressure and while his tendancy to just run it is a little higher than anyone wants, it’s still a step in the right direction. He will eventually use his legs to extend plays and find guys downfield.

2 more should be tune up games to get the offense absolutely purring before we have to go to aggy land

The drop can 100% be on Moore and still be a shitty throw. Holy fuck

The second pass to Moore that he dropped was a perfect pass and the throw should have been like that on the first pass Moore dropped.

I don’t think anyone is arguing against this besides Htown. Kinda a trend for him though.

It hit him in the hands. And then again in the chest. It was uncontested. No elevation needed. Everything else doesn’t matter, it was a shitty drop.

and if he leads it is a TD. I just laugh that you fatasses think it's easy to track the ball, turn around while slowing to a complete stop, avoid the DB and catch the ball. You guys would shit your pants more times than not. I think the Texas WRs should just keep running their routes and watch the ball fall 15 yards behind where they expect to be placed, so maybe you fucking tards would realize how bad of that throw actually was.

Right. And also 100% Moores fault it was a drop. I’m agreeing with you. Htown thinks it’s all on Ewers.

Because it is. you actually thing Sarkisian wants the ball 5 yards behind his wide fucking open WR? You think Sarkisian is going to watch the tape and say to Quinn, "Good ball."

Of course he’ll have margin of error. Our defense will give him many opportunities to throw his duck ball.
the thing is 99 percent of ncaa QBs throw shitty deep balls, we just say our qb sucks and is the only one.
After watching today’s QBs I’d say Quinn’s deep ball is average not shitty after all.  But being happy with our qb is not a thing.

If receiver started doing that he might not be playing much and probably wouldn’t be very popular in room.

Quinn had a fantastic game that wasn't perfect. Perfect would have been transcendent and god mode Quinn which we know can exist.

This is a far cry from shit down his leg Quinn from Georgia.

I am 100% confident in saying he wasn't a pussy today, but I am gonna do a rewatch  and confirm.

Fucking 5TDs what hilarious video game stats.

I’m watching the game for the first time… on your point about not being a pussy today, on his pass to Gunnar to go up 14… doesn’t he step up in the pocket and take a hit?  I was like, whoa, right on.  The coverage I have is inconclusive.

ETA: great phrase: “Quinn had a fantastic game that wasn’t perfect.”

It wasn't a perfect throw, but in my days as a receiver, it was what we'd consider catchable. Maybe 25% Ewers fault and 75% the receivers. But when it's 50% or more on the receiver, he gets the blame no matter how geometrically disorienting that 25% was. Cuz it's not exactly a walk in the park to throw the ball either.

That said, Quin could use some improvement in consistency on deep throws.

Quinn really played well after the two poor throws to Moore, he was attacking the middle of the field a lot more, which is where the yards are when you play the horizontal game.

Fayetteville is going to be loud and nasty.  Hopefully, Ewers and the OL can can do what they did today.

Quinn was very good in this game. This was a great environment for him. There was little pressure. WRs were running wide ass open all game. Quinn was able to hit his first read the vast majority of the time. Quinn is a 1st read QB. When Sark is dealing and Quinn has simple reads, he has always been one of the best passers in the country. Great confidence builder for Quinn and the offense. It’s a step in the right direction. Didn’t give us much evidence of how he will play when a defense muddies up his reads and takes away his #1 or how he will handle pressure.
