I don't think Quinn started slow...we've seen Quinn slow starts before and this was definitely not it.

Hmm.  He got lucky he didn't have yet another 1st Q int.  DE ducked back into coverage and Q had no clue.

But that was the only real "mistake" he made.

I understand it was not a high difficulty throw, but everything about the TD pass to Helm (quick trigger, zip on the ball, placement) were things that Quinn was seemingly having trouble with the last few weeks. That play was when I thought to myself he might finally be healthy again.

Exactly why did that make you think he is now healthy?

The best thing about it was the quick decision.

It was simple read. Sark called play action pass and the ILB was blitzing and mugged up on the LOS. It was pretty obvious, not much to make a decision about

That one I won’t take completely for granted.  There was a free blitzer that sped it up a bit.  Obviously a play the QB needs to make.  Just thought the throw was easier than the quick decision part.

Not if you have the old school T-bar.  First game ever played in 7th.  Ball thrown right between my eyes.  At one point, the ball just disappeared then doinked off the face mask.

Didn't hit you in the face, though, just doinked off the mask. You shoulda caught it.

This is why this thread is so long and why the debate continues regarding Quinn’s effectiveness.

We never know which Quinn is going to show up, and we continue to hope for a Quinn we have occasionally seen, despite him more regularly being the guy who has happy feet, has terrible mechanics, and is worried at the mere idea of pressure.

Too many “ifs” with Quinn for us to reach the pinnacle and I’ll happily eat crow if I’m wrong.

100% agree. it's not even consistency from game to game for quinn, it is offensive series to offensive series. the same guy that played in the first quarter of the game also played second quarter.

but he never showed much of anything worth a damn against ou, uga, or vandy outside of two great passes against vandy (first td to moore and 3rd and long to bolden) and at least yesterday, he occasionally threw some really, really nice balls.

It's his footwork. I dont understand how a kid that has had a Qb coach since about the time he came out of the womb can have such poor footwork. It been an issue since he came to Texas and even in the Florida game, he would throw off his backfoot with no pressure. It has to be frustrating the hell out of Sark.

Quinn played a lot better than he did in the last few games for sure, but I don't know how much of that was him getting his confidence/mojo back and how much of that was the relative ease of the game. We have seen him flourish in easy games many times before, so it's not news. I don't know if his better showing means he is going to play well at Arky or Collie station as well. We shall see!

He seemed to flourish against Bama well enough.  I mean I get what you are saying, but it's not like he crumbles against every quality opponent.  And despite what Graham Cracker Dude says, aggy is not comparable to the last two teams Saban fielded against us.

I think I'm starting to understand what's happening.

People like watching Arch play a lot more. It's dynamic, he's fast, he makes iffy decisions and loves to throw his beautiful deep ball.

I think ewers is most of the way back to where he was pre-injury.

Yep. Arch is why this thread is 300 pages. If we didn't have Arch we wouldn't be in here bitching every week.

Are you guys under the impression that the starting qb at Texas, who’s going to get drafted, is faithful to his girlfriend that lives in another state?

I think it always just baffles up that guys in his position are as hard up/down bad as the rest of the guys their age.

Also, we never fail to find the amusement in watching that which is undefeated stay undefeated.

I don't know much of anything about Quinn personally.

This was answering the question "Why wouldn't he be doing that?"

It's a plausible answer, even if not accurate.

No we are under the impression that if Case McCoy can video his teammate having sex, then Quinn doesn't have to beg women for nudies.

Yes. Quinn is great with a clean pocket and 1st read is there. He one of the best QBs in the country in that environment. He has a rep for poor pocket presence and an inability to handle pressure. Only way for him to win over his detractors is to have a big game with a messy pocket. There just arent many chances for that.

He had messy pockets last year and played well.

Quinn is going to have an interesting week. It's funny to see people who all expect to get pussy easily beg for one. Perhaps it's not so easy for them after all. Hope he can focus on practice. Next week's game is not going to be a cakewalk.

This explains the poor pocket presence. Poor guy is going out there with a loaded gun.

Not sure those clean pockets exist in your world.

It is a bit ironic that people give the pass protection hell on occasion then come back and changed their tone after watching it again and much more closely.  Our poor games are a day in the life of many QBs.  When we lose upfront, it’s often one guy.  That’s much easier to handle that 2+ plus guys.

It generally goes that as the Oline goes so goes the QB.
