do you think “this offense” will be different next year?

No, because Sarkisian doesn't change his offense. It's the same offense he ran when he got here and he's had 4 QBs run it with varying degrees of success. The best athlete and QB with the best deep ball touch is going to run it next year and the offense is likely going to be more explosive. We also get back our IZ RB which will even make the deep ball better.

look at this list from before the season

I think all the players that are on that list that are not playing to their (perceived) potential are suffering from some of the same things Ewers is......the lack of consistency of the team overall

Texas still as a group on the OLine looks to lack consistency as a unit no matter how good each individual player is......I think Ewers still has not figured out which receivers are his 2nd or 3rd option that will be there consistently (some on him some on the overall lack of reps together)

I think a lot on this forum forget just how shitty Texas was for a long time and how much talent has come and gone (both wasted and that moved to the next level even if a bit early) while Texas is comparing themselves to programs that have been at a lot higher level and a lot more consistent for a lot longer......that are themselves declining because of consistency issues brought on by the portal and by coaching changes when coaches say "fuck all this NIL and portal shit I am retired"

I think last year Texas snuck up on some teams and was right there at the end......which lead to massive expectations this year while still having a lot of work to do and a lot of talent to replace.....Ewers and a number of other QBs n that list are suffering from those same issues and it is magnified at the QB position because they touch the ball every offensive play

This is a rambling mess of vomit that makes no sense.

Good QB, that's it. Any face painter who projects Ewers as more than that is a fool.

Very accurate on intermediate balls, good and quick release. Terrible pocket presence, fragile in it and seems to go down with a wisp of air all too often, very little mobility, atrocious on the deep ball. Being injury prone doesn't help.

Again, just a good D-1 QB.  That's it.

I did that this afternoon. I watched Texas win then met my lady friend for lunch and sex then more sex. Now I am home drinking beer and talking shit on Surly.

90%of the blame goes to sark and his terrible play calling. Every time he calls that slow developing blind screen to the rb I scream. It’s either a negative play, tipped, or intercepeted(or both).  He has completely abandoned the run until the 4th quarter. He is utterly predictable as a play caller he believes his own fucking hype. He’s almost wore at times than Tom fucking Herman.

He literally gave Quinn multiple times to prove he could throw downfield in the first half. Quinn proves he can’t, running was definitely not totally abandoned but it was 2 yards with a 4-8 sprinkled in not like it was working great.  That’s back to the game plan, if you can throw downfield it opens up the run. Sark has to throw out part of the playbook because he can’t trust his qb to throw downfield.  Some of ya’ll that blame Sark’s play calling  don’t understand football very much obviously.  Watch a game where Quinn is hitting downfield passes actually and see the difference.

I’m curious how this will play out.  We will have won 17% of our games without Ewers.  The defense has been outstanding in every game thus far.  Other positions have had spotty play at times but also looked great at others.

His best games have been the first big game out of the shoot each year.  I can’t help but think the gameplan is a part in that.  He’s lauded for leading us a Big 12 championship and playoff appearance.   Yet he beat neither of our two most difficult Big 12 opponents.  OSU was certainly one of the weaker championship opponents recently.  We’ve struggled to put teams away in his tenure.  He hasn’t led a game winning drive late in the game as best I can recall.  I’m not even sure he’s won a game in which our opponent scored 30+ points.

Hes good enough to win it all..  our rosters good enough to win it all.  I’m not sure our rosters ever been better.

So when we win it all, will it be more Trent Dilfer or Patrick Mahomes?

Huh?

The 1st drive of the game, Golden is behind their entire defense and Quinn overthrows him by 5 yards. Which undersells just how poorly the ball was thrown, because it wasn't even following the path Golden was running, but was 5 yards inside his right shoulder when he was running across the field on a deep post.

Gentlemen, seriously, Quinn is who he is. Bearing a dead horse isn't going to make him into Joe Burrow. When he's not face planting from being chased by ghosts, he'll hit 5 yard out if the WR catches it. We should all be on the same page that he's gone next year, and we get a QB with literal suoer genetics. Can we make free NC game and win if? Sure. But it will have to be our defense who carries us. Unless Golden and Bond go superhuman and Jaydon Blue stops fumbling, we are who we are. It's clear there are more issues than just Quinn. We hace no RB's that can pass block, by some miracle sometimes Blue can make a burst for a our 20 yards. Sark is intent on square peg round hold trying to run Wisner up the middle and it clearly isn't working. I have no idea why he wouldn't put in Gibson for that since that's what he does.

Our WR's are fine. Quinn can hit them with a 5 yard out route, but anything outside of that and it's 50/50. The lack of balls to Wingo is also boggling. Sure he's dropped a few, but unless he's targeted more than twice a game we have idea whar he can be. I have no idea why Sark has abandoned the reverse W with nm since he gains about 30-40 yards with it. Mt guess is he and Quinn dint practice together (which is dumb af if true). So they have no chemistry. Wingo and Arch dk, so I suspect Wingo will break out next season

With all that said, let's just agree Quinn is average at best, a d at worst he's Case Mccoy with a strong arm who is inconsistent and doesn't know how to read a defens or.use hia arm talent.

Bullshit. I am melting down. We lose Banks after this year. And our center that has been here for 6 years. And Helm. And Bond. And Jahdae. And Sorrell. And Collins and most importantly Golden is about to be drafted if he keeps it up. Our only hope is defense at this point. And PK will probably be poached. We have a team that can strike this year. But our qb is a thirsty pussy and his backup is better at the job. The answer is clear. But sark can’t do it bc he needs to be able to recruit.

What the fuck are you talking about

Do you really think Quinn gives us the best chance to win?

On this roster, this year? Yea. More importantly our coach does. If y’all think Sark is starting the worse QB due to politics during a title run year at Texas then we have much bigger issues.

I mean this is absolutely what he's doing because he's hoping Quinn gets out of his funk. We have all seen the offense with Manning playing, and it was much more explosive vertically.

The dude has over 30 starts in his career and people still feel the desire to handle him with kid gloves. He’s a big boy who would be the first to tell you he needs to play better.

A third year starter at QB should be elevating an offense at a place like Texas. He shouldn’t just be along for the ride or having to be put on a joystick by his playcaller.

There were Texas QB’s in the past who didn’t get half the leash Ewers does in his third season from some in this fanbase just because they are still stuck on his HS rating and some beautiful passes he threw in a spring game and against Alabama a year ago.

This team is good enough to win the national championship and we need our third year starter to be more than a game manager to get there. That ain’t asking for too much.

Against slap dicks at home. He also fucked up some pretty basic things that are integral to the offense. But sure, if y’all want to think Sark is sabotaging the team of the most lucrative brand in CFB and pissing off the most influential family in football to make Quinn Ewers happy have fun in your fantasy world.

The thing is when qe is on we are damn near unbeatable. When he is off , we just need him to not turn ball over. Our defense can win games for us. This will work for our 2 last opponents. I think we can ride this defense to the championship. This is literally nfl lite. You win and advance. Each game is its own thing and you live on till you beat them all.

My guess is we are operating with about 60% of the playbook when he plays like he did today. That won’t be good enough on his off nights in the playoffs, even if our defense is elite.

He is a third year starter. My bar is a little higher than “please just don’t turn the ball over!”

Quick question on that….   Did he run the same offense at Alabama when he had a qb who could throw down field?  Did he call the same offense vs Alabama when he could trust his qb to throw downfield?  Does he run the same offense when he calls downfield passing plays at the start of the game and see’s his qb can or can’t do that, that day?

Depends on who we're playing and how bad they play against us. That's why this thread is fun but crazy at same time.  60 percent might be good enough if let's say the teams we're playing turn the ball over 6 times each to us. That's not gonna happen of course, but it could. We can go on a heater and roll or qe can suck and we lose out. That's why the enjoy the ride crowd makes sense. We're coming from qb hell and seem to be working out of it but qe is what he is at this point. Time for sark to earn his paycheck.

This is a Chris Leak/Tim Tebow situation. Arch probably isn't ready to be the full time starter, but it's too bad we can't get him more involved in the games somehow.

I disagree. Not saying he should replace Quinn today, but Arch damn well better be ready to be a full-time starter, because he will be next year. He looked like one when he played. even allowing for the imperfections game experience will iron out.

Good God, can you imagine Quinn Ewers if he had Arch's touch on the deep ball?

Not being an asshole on the Internet.

Serious question. I think Quinn is a good college quarterback, not the awful cartoon figure caricatured at times here. But he seems more subdued, less sure of himself than last year. So, what happened?
