Texas record would be 9-1 with Arch or Quinn starting, I don’t think anyone would argue that. So the record thing doesn’t really move the needle.

This is a debate based on Quinn’s play. If it was any other position, it is unlikely to be much of a debate

I think us being 9-1 with Arch is totally debatable. He's looked good and he's looked not good. A dumb pick or two on the road against Vandy or Arky and we'd have lost.

Why don't you try reading my posts on the subject just a few above yours. As for beating Quinn out in practice, this isn't a fall camp competition situation. And Quinn doesn't have to worry about contact in practice. Football games are played full contact, not 7 on 7.

I don't need to prove to you that your statement was ridiculous. It was and you can accept that or not.

The only reason either of those games was close is quarterback play

Ark is out the window. Quinn was not good vs Ark. Quinn had multiple interceptions vs Vandy and Texas survived

quinn is really tearing this place apart and it makes me sad.

I agree with this and I so painfully want it to happen ... but we've been waiting for him to get hot all season.  It seems like he has yet to take over a game.  Both games vs Alabama he was dictating everything on the field (and remember that bomb to worthy for a TD, was that his last good deep ball?).  This season he's played well against Michigan and Florida but I wouldn't say he played well enough to win the SEC title and three playoff games.  Think about that (assuming we handle Kentucky), Quinn has to play well against A&M, the SEC championship, and three playoff games to win the title.  Does ANYONE think Quinn can win five highly competitive games in a row?  Based on how he's looked this season I'd say no.  But I doubt Arch would have a better chance and if Quinn does get hot that's our best scenario.  So, keep playing Quinn.

I think we all underestimate the running game and WR's we/Quinn had last year.   Quinn is the same. IMO.   Our D is so much better that we are in the same spot as last year.

we go as far as the D takes us.  barring stupid TO's and special teams disasters we can win it.

The game isn’t slow enough for Quinn either apparently.
Quinn makes freshman mistakes regularly and turns the ball over half of his games.
Sark has clearly limited our playbook for Quinn.
Quinn is a single read QB. Please don’t try to pretend he is good at going through his progressions. Lulz.

This is my point. Arch may not be perfect but the supposed freshman issues are the same issues our 3rd year starter has.

This has nothing to do with respect. Absolute clown reply.

He is not a single read QB. He doesn’t always make the right decision but he has a much better grasp of elite defenses than arch does and in fact does go through his progressions.

his limitations are mobility, pocket presence, and the deep ball. But touch, intermediate accuracy and reading defenses he’s way ahead of arch.

And by the same token, had Arch been playing since Georgia, he would have been developing, and he'd be better prepared by now. Likewise, it assumes he hasn't developed any simply from practicing and the passage of time since then. The whole crux of this matter is Quinn's poor performance.

The crux of it is which QB gives Texas the best chance at a title run this year and nothing else matters. The fact that QE should be better this year than he is is not an option right now. It’s a redshirt freshman with zero big game experience or QE who has won big and has shit the bed. Sark had emphatically made his decision, I agree with him for this year. No doubt arch has a much higher ceiling for his career but he does not have a higher ceiling for this year and against playoff contenders im going to guess sark doesn’t think he’s ready either.

I’m still not exactly sure that we should bail on Quinn for Arch, I’m just really starting to run out of reasons that make me think it would be worse. Again, that’s how bad he is playing. It isn’t about Arch being a savior, it’s about Quinn playing like a true freshman.

if he gets time he is very very good but yes, any pressure and he bails to the check down quickly.  to be honest I am fine with that this year vs a pick.

If he was just a one read QB he wouldn’t be getting sacked so much. I think he’s been going through his progressions better this year actually, unfortunately this just highlights his shitty pocket presence even more.

OR once he comes off his single read or not schematically designed read he holds the ball because he doesn't know what the fuck to do because he's a single read QB? Yeah I'll go with that

If Quinn only throws for 200 yards in all upcoming games and no turnovers, the team can win a championship with that.

There is no chance Texas makes noise in the playoffs, if Quinn throws for 200 yards a game. Debatable that Texas makes the playoffs, if Quinn throws for 200 vs A&M

Texas rolls.. Florida offense was just out-matched. I said Ewers played great in that game, but the environment couldn’t have been easier. That isn’t a game where Arch would have been rattled. Almost no pressure and WRs running wide open everywhere

Haven’t had a sip… yet. Just a lazy Sunday on the couch though.

It’s just ridiculous to pretend that Quinn regularly goes through his reads. Often when he does he missed someone while doing so. All someone has to do is show some sort of blitz and he turns into a check down machine. There doesn’t even have to be actual pressure.
I don’t know why you want to act like this is new. It’s been a problem the entire season.

I've not really been arguing Arch should be the starter so much as counterbalancing what I take to be unchallenged assertions by Quinn advocates. It's a legitimate discussion to be had because the answer as to who should be the starter since the first half of Georgia wasn't straightforward at all. For sure, if a switch to Arch were to be made, it would have been far better to have done so in that game and stick with it to allow him to develop and be ready for the final stretch. It's a much dicier situation at this juncture. As you say, and as I have posted several weeks ago, the decision isn't ours to make anyways.

There is zero chance Florida could even contend with us in that game even with Owens at QB. Zero offense, zero defense. That had absolutely nothing.

I’m extremely disappointed in QE’s play this year.  It’s counter balanced by pleasant surprise our defense is so dominant.

I just think QE can play elite and he has before. I simply do not think Arch will play like a seasoned veteran in the playoffs. I truly believe a no turnover QE who throws for 200 is enough to win the playoffs. And I think arch is simply too inexperienced to take the chance on what is our best chance at a title since well last year.

If we had Baxter I’d probably agree. But I don’t think our current backs would be enough to carry the offense to a title even without turnovers. Our offense needs elite QB play to win the title

Our only loss was because of turnovers. Take those away that game is a nail biter. Our defense is so fucking legit we don’t need high flying offense we need no turnover 24-27 points.

Because turnovers and the worst QB play since Hudson Card vs Arkansas in 2021. That game is the epitome of why we need elite QB play to win a title. We will have to 2-4 games like that game to win a title.

I’d wager we’d need at least 1 game of 200+.  You realize we get a shit ton of yards after catch, right?

We have now run the freebie TD pass two weeks in a row.  So that’ll be more difficult, but they’ll probably give the Yac a bit.

Keep an eye on Georgia as that was their best offensive output yesterday.

Just modern football. It’s extremely hard to go a season where someone doesn’t get you. Texas has only played 1 top 20 offense this year by FEI (18 Georgia). To win a title there will be a game the offense needs to score 27 or more. I hope I am wrong about that, because it would be great to watch the defense hold everyone below 17 pts.

I’m not saying that Arch is our underutilized savior, but the opposite could also be true. Maybe Arch hits some passes or makes some play and those games aren’t as close.

The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.
