This post falls apart because we have seen Arch be QB1 for 2-1/2 games. His improvement was night and day between Monroe and Mississppi State. Arch lead Texas to 35 points against the only SEC defense he played, Ewers has done that once against the other 6 SEC defenses he has played.

The only reason the switch hasn't been made is likely the Manning family wants nothing to do with the controversy of replacing an entrenched starter on this team. I think the Manning and Arch himself would prefer to be QB1 throughout an entire off-season headning into the season.

I also think, if this was another Hudson Card/Casey Thompson situation the switch would have already been made.

Sure but it’s not likely she knows what she’s talking about. I’ve got a lot of mom’s views over the years, and they are never so nuanced that would dictate a “plan” with a major CFB coach. The implication is always Cooper and uncles and/or Archie. And it is 100% wrong.

Why? Because she's a woman?

yes, the people who are taking the Manning family’s involvement in Arch’s recruitment process/plan for his time at Texas and making it out to be “some grand conspiracy” or anything other than standard operating procedure are fucking stupid.

also, nobody but you has mentioned peyton and eli being involved in any of this, but don’t let that stop you from tilting at windmills.

Holy shit dude, this thread is full of people talking about the collective manning family from Papa down through the uncles to Dad.

i haven’t seen peyton or eli’s name posted here, and if they have been it’s been by random ass people and not any sort of popular or accepted take.

Yeah I just want him to be able to walk and not Uncle Rico screen passes and not over celebrate non-late hits. I’m so sick of coming here the day after a game and just wade through repetitive nonsense we all know, posted just to provoke other posters. It starts with race-baiting Derka.

You're telling me that you don't want Quinn throwin' the ball over them there mountains?

Of course. You think she’s in rooms dictating to a college coach of a top 5 blue blood things her husband who played college ball can’t or won’t?  Are you married?  Do you have kids who play sports?

We are 10-1 in the SEC but Quinn Ewers is incredibly easy to scheme against? Number 15 scoring offense? Number 17 passing offense despite the fact that we aren't even a spread team. Number 18 total offense? Everyone is choosing o take him away instead of loading up on the run but easy to scheme against. Lol

But SEC is a MeatGrinder...wait no, our schedule is easy...wait, no it is SEC MeatGrinder...oh fuck it all.

my main 2 quibbles with Ewers are 1)he is a bit late on his throws/reads which manifests issues on deep balls more and 2) ball security in the pocket

he rarely throws picks straight to the other team.  batted balls are a function of footwork, height and arm angle, i've resigned myself to the fact that he aint fixing his footwork at this point and the other 2 are just who he is.

Well, scroll back.  It's 323 pages.  Maybe 8-10 per day, depending.  I have specifically been involved in several Archie/Peyton/Eli/Cooper discussions.

Fuck it, I don't want to argue with you.

first off, stop engaging me only to whine about how you don’t want to engage with me. you do that a lot. i didn’t say anything offensive or incendiary, i just said that i haven’t seen anyone mentioning peyton or eli being involved in this situation, and instead of you just giving an example of it happening you're now typically and predictably throwing a fit about “arguing” with me. it’s jimmyjazz 101. so either become mature enough to have a discussion with me, or stop engaging me altogether.

Maybe it's because you're the biggest pussy on this website.  Fuck off, I've been giving you rope for months and you can't see it.

It appears as if Quinn doesn't handle things like adversity and change very well. Get him off schedule and he becomes a different QB.

But hey, when he's 100% and has clean pockets with plenty of time to throw and open receivers downfield, he's really good.

I said this same thing about Tom Brady.

I’ve been critical of Quinn over the years. His recruiting ranking was extremely high and his actual performance is a lot closer to Chris Simms than it is Colt McCoy. I think there are reasonable critics who get frustrated when fans defend him as if he is another Colt and are reluctant to acknowledge his shortcomings.

He can have great streaks followed by bad stretches, and it’s those bad stretches that concern me that it will eventually cost us a game when it counts the most. It’s all already been said, but he looks nervous in the pocket, has no mobility, and his deep ball is horribly inaccurate. For a 3rd year starter who was once a Heisman hopeful, that’s not great.

I would’ve liked to see Arch get some reps in the 2nd half, not because I believe he is better at this point, because I really have no way of knowing that, but merely to give our backup some more experience in case we truly need him. With our starter’s injury history, that seems entirely possible. The 2009 championship game still haunts me and I’d like our backup to be as prepared as possible.

Sark has his reasons which many of us don’t understand, but he does have us at 10-1 so it’s hard to question the success he is delivering. He knows more about this team than any of us do. Maybe it’s stubborn loyalty to Quinn, or maybe it’s a hidden concern about Arch, or a mythical deal with the Manning family, or paranoia about a QB controversy, we really can’t know.

I personally think everything is a risk-reward situation, and this week Sark felt sticking with Quinn both for the sake of winning against Kentucky and for avoiding a QB controversy, outweighed whatever marginal benefit Arch would get from handing the ball off for 15 plays. He probably just wanted to get through the game, get the win, and then reassess for aggy.

I suspect Quinn will be our starter and I will definitely be rooting for him to do well. Winning our remaining games is more important than validating any past criticisms. I’ll cheer his successes and likely curse some missteps. I just hope there’s a lot more cheering than cursing.

I’m still pissed that he was left in but the more I think about it, I think Sark left him in to simply give aggy more to think about and to gameplan on. I expect Arch packages regardless of Quinn’s health.

Nothing in Sark’s time at Texas should lead you to expect that.

My position is simply that in 2010, in the national championship ship game, Mack Brown pulled Garrett Gilbert basically out of the freezer.

Arch Manning hasn’t had a real possession since September where he was asked to do anything except hand the ball off. And it would be nice to keep the motor warmed up in case you need to drive that car.

Most teams don’t play their 2nd string QB throughout the regular season and especially in conference play. Hope that helps.
