Again this is his 3rd year as a starter, and he hasn't gotten better at all, the team around him, especially the defense, has improved night and day, and they are the more apparent reason for 22-3 including 4 games with the backup.

And for the 6,578th time, that isn't the question.  The question is "which QB gives us a better chance to win RIGHT NOW?"

Sark thinks it's Quinn.  I'll trust him over a bunch of throw-it-over-the-mountain faded HS JV quarterbacks 10 days out of 10, for pity's sake.  Understand the argument, and stop bringing irrelevant shit to the table.

This is a thread about Quinn Ewers, so I will post whatever the fuck I want about Quinn Ewers.

We didn't miss the point. I could spend a whole day editing a lowlight clip of Quinn over 3 years that will make him look just as bad if not worse. But that would be shitty thing to do IMO, and while I'm critical of Quinn, that's below the belt as a Texas fan.

Most of this thread is below the belt. It's the territory.

I wouldn't have put any time into it.

There is a  difference hitting on plays and things that need to be fixed. Even the dumbass takes. You have crossed the line spending an hour cutting up a low light film of a freshmen. We all know anyone could make one of Quinn. I would say that is shitty also. It’s just overboard.  I just can’t imagine a fan going that far over an argument with a bunch of unnamed morons on a fan site.

I like talking football. I like watching plays. And yes, watching plays where our backup QB has room to improve is included among that. Hell, for a low light tape, there was a ton positive to take away. Some of those were just missed of tight windows. Some of those he had an open guy in another window that he will need to learn to hit (those Georgia highlights were rough in that regard, some big plays were there to be had). And some of those were just him trying to make something out of nothing and not succeeding. I don't understand taking it personal. It isn't an insult to the kid. And if you did the same thing for Quinn, I'd have the same response. The only difference with Quinn is that I know exactly what I'd see in that tape because we have seen a lot of the same problems over the last 3 years. But if you watched that tape, you'd also see the parts that he has improved on.

The pearl clutching over video of Arch’s misplays is alarmingly bitch-made.

Calling our starting QB or any returning member from our CFP team a pussy, should result in one required Oklahoma drill at any surly tailgate.

Sark has been forcing the pass to setup the run cause of the RB injuries, no shit you will see a different looking offense next year to start. You will probably see a different one at A&M after seeing some success running the ball late in both of the team’s last games.

Next man up.  It’ll be time to start shitting on Arch.

Can we pin this somewhere@immamac? I’m sure the same people sticking up for Quinn will be sticking up for Arch the second he has a shitty half and some other part of the team has to carry him next year LOL. I’ll be right there in the trenches fighting all the bitches and saying “great qb’s throw 4 picks in a half sometimes, it never stopped Favre.” BO&W will come in and say Trey Owens is actually the giga chad  or whatever the fuck new age bullshit he spews.

I really don't understand this take. Coaches literally do this for training purposes. There is nothing shitty about this because the intent wasn't to be shitty. Y'all have no issues wasting page after page criticizing our starting QB, but then take umbrage at someone actually providing visual context for an opposing comparison. It is just fucking nonsense.

It's moving the goalposts. Nothing more.

Throwing into double coverage is not always the wrong thing. First that coverage can be crappy.  There’s always the 3rd and long stuff that a pick is as good as a punt.

People laud Ewers for his OU 2022 game.  Two throws were potentially dangerous, but they’re hyped up as “NFL throws.”

Do you remember that throw that Vandy picked off?  Did you realize there was damn near the exact scenario in the Arch video?  You remember how thatguy came in talked about chipping a guy on the way to the flat when it’s QE but adds to a video as negative for arch?  In the Georgia game did you know that Ewers got strip sacked too?

Did you know that independent sources track things like turnover worthy plays?  Guess whose rate is higher?

Hell, you can track the stats down on completion by level.  From 10-20 yards, Ewers is 60th in completion percentage.  48th in depth of target.  The drop % is 18th lowest.  I’m sure he’s just getting an inordinate amount of pressure.  Last year, you could say he was elite in this range.  He’s not this year for whatever reason.

We don’t want to factual or consistent here.  I’m learning that.

Ok. Let me address this. Everyone is bitching that Ewers gets balls batted so I put the Arch ball getting batted too. A person SHOULD chip a rusher on the way to the flat. When I said that you guys said I was making excuses for Ewers. By putting the Arch ball getting batted maybe you guys see that it's not just a Ewers problem it's an US problem.

Stats never tell the whole story. You can have two teams rush for 125 yards per game. Both teams rush for exactly 5 yards every time they hand it off. If you ask which team is the better running team the stats will say that they are both exactly equal. However when you turn on the tape team A is getting their 125 vs a stacked box while team B is getting their 125 vs a 3 man front. Then team B comes up against a team wanting to load the box and their productivity drops in half and no one can figure out why while team A keeps chugging along at their 125 per totally unaffected because they always see loaded boxes.

Last game the Vandagriff kid was struggling. Then the Boley kid came in and looked much better than him or so said Derka. However, as soon as the freshman came in PK started calling a shit ton of blitzes because that's the rule vs a freshman, leaving us completely exposed on the back end 1v1. Guys, knowing he is a freshman, shirked their responsibilities and started taking chances causing coverage busts. The kid was just airing balls out and it caught us off guard. However, as soon as we went back to normal coverage he threw right into double coverage and got picked. Stats will show him as the better player but he likely wasn't.

All i see is Texas getting Ws

Have actually looked at our schedule? It’s not good. If we don’t win those games with our talent disparity it would be criminal. Almost every QB in the SEC would be 10-1 with our roster and schedule. You should expect better from the starting QB at Texas.

Oh for fucks sake. Have you looked at other teams schedules at all?

You act like we lost to the same shit ass teams Bama, Georgia, Tennessee,  Ole Miss, lost to.

We best Vandy, Kentucky, Arkansas , Florida

Here's the truth: the SEC has two good teams Texas and Georgia and everyone else has lost to everyone else A LOT

Well they don't have our schedule.

But I will gladly take Ewers over Milroe. Holy shit was he disastrous against OU.

Those teams are every bit as talented as we are. And we know they couldn't couldn't go through our schedule with only one loss because they each have at least 2 losses to teams we played. If @Billy Pilgrim meant literally those teams having our players and our schedule, then it was a meaningless post since those teams would just be Texas at that point.

In this thread we kept hearing about how Dart carved up Arkansas, blah, blah blah, so much better, blah blah blah. How did Dart do against mighty Florida?

That doesn’t change anything about those stats actually

of curse it does. first off, 984 passing yards in four games is not something to crow about. it’s not 1963. second, when 600 of those yards come after the catch on throws that are at/around the LOS, it absolutely puts a new perspective on what was already a not-particularly-impressive amount of passing yards for a four game stretch, particularly when sark is your coach and you’re surrounded by elite pass catching talent. the context behind the the numbers always matters. “numbers don’t lie” is the biggest lie in sports.

the original quote was those stats are "not bad." Are you saying 4-0, 984 yards, 12 TD's to 2 Int's at 67% is bad somehow?
