The non-UT perception of Ewers has been poisoned by Dr. Pepper.

Whoever wrote that line about no backups needs to be castrated with a butter knife.

Alright - the "good hair and famous relatives" part was actually pretty funny.

Maybe?👀

I’m just trying to understand what changes next year between the Quinn and Arch experience divide, that if Quinn wanted to stay why Sark wouldn’t let him.

Because we would be getting year four of the Quinn Ewers Experience ("Is he hurt? When is he coming back? He looked good for awhile before they got pressure on him. Why can't he still complete a deep pass?") while watching Arch play for LSU or Alabama.

If Quinn came back as the starter next year then Arch is gone. That is the difference between next year and this year. That ain’t happening. We aren’t going to miss out on Arch for a couple years so Quinn can try and improve his draft status.

If Ewers wants to come back next year, he is welcome to do so as the water boy and backup to Arch.

Ewers walked with the Seniors. He's already a millionaire. I might believe he'd transfer, but he won't be returning.

We still have at least three games to play... maybe as many as six.

He is not coming back. Stop.

Even if he falls out of Rd1, he's not coming back. He's going to make enough money in the NFL, whether rd1 or rd2. At worst, he'll be a well paid backup for 15 years. On the right team, he'll be a steady QB1.

Go win this bitch.

It is absurd that two CFB teams still have six games to play this season.

Can't imagine any NFL team taking Ewers in either of the first two rounds.

Minimum would be 2 games left. (Aggy and whoever we play in a bowl game/first round playoff.)

Hopefully we are playing 5 or 6 more

What team would be dumb enough to take an undersized China doll in one of the first two rounds of the draft?

Why not transfer to SMU, take all those pony millionaires for every cent they’re worth, tear it up in the ACC, and go super early in Round 1 like Drake Maye?

FCB with an update on Ewers

One source close to the situation said Ewers' ankle sprain wasn't progressing as quickly as initially hoped. That source said there's obviously still time for the ankle to respond to treatment before Saturday.

Monday's practice was more of a walkthrough as Texas put in the game plan for Texas A&M, so not much was required physically of Ewers.

Tuesday and Wednesday were more physical practices, and Ewers' ankle "was in a stiff brace."

"Quinn took the first snaps with the first team offense, but he was definitely limited," the source said.

Ewers has been getting daily treatment on his ankle, which will continue on Thanksgiving Day and Friday. The hope is that the injury will improve by Saturday.

Yeah that's what I was afraid of. And we can't put that dude out there looking like he did in the second half against Kentucky. We'll see Manning by the second quarter.

I agree with what Gerry said this morning on coffee and football. It’s not what he looks like pregame or in practice that will matter. It will be how he reacts or looks after the first time he is hit.

Chip needs the clicks…. He shouldn't be putting that info out there. Arch will play and Arch will lead us to the win.

Quinn was listed as probable on today’s injury report. Either Sark is playing 3D chess or FCB

Those injury reports are whatever. Ewers wasn’t listed at all in the weeks after he came back from the oblique injury even though we all knew he was at least somewhat limited and guys like Bond weren’t listed last week then played 50% of snaps.

These coaches still don’t want to reveal everything if they don’t have to.

I assumed Sark would list him as questionable all week. Probable is a pretty good indicator he is playing. Though I don’t know anyone that thought a mild sprain was going to keep him out of this game

Ewers isn't going to transfer to another school. His draft stock isn't gettting repaired at another school. He's going to go pro and live with the results. What he really needs, is to sit on the bench and get healthy and rework his fundamentals for a year or two. That's not going to happen at another college program, that happens in the pros. Maybe he can become a quality NFL starter, I think not, but whether or not he spends another year in college isn't going to do shit for his draft stock when you consider he would likely get hurt, miss time, and bumble fuck his way through a few games.

I don't know why people were assuming this injury could just be brushed off. The guy couldn't run and couldn't throw at all in the second half last Saturday. He's dealt with several injuries and never been a guy that has those freakish fast recoveries. One week is just a really quick turnaround for a sprained ankle, especially when you go out there and keep playing on it for two+ quarters after it happens (good call Sark jfc).

I feel bad for him, he'd been playing better in November and I think the way he was playing would have been enough to feel very good about the A&M matchup. Not so much if he's anywhere near as limited as he was last week.

If Sark trots out an injured Ewers - and it seems like that's the plan - Texas will be very easy to defend and lose the game.

Agree with this and it should be obvious to him too. His best path to a long term NFL starting gig is to sit and develop with a competent organization for a couple of years. Falling in the draft could end up being a blessing for him if it means he lands in the right situation.

Probable to play doesn't mean anything with regard to an injury impacting his game.

More worried about Bond’s ankle in this game than Quinn’s

He will go in the 4th round as a guess. Hopefully he lands on a good team with a good vet QB and gets 2 years to watch and learn then gets his shot to shine

I think people are forgetting how well he'll throw for scouts. Those goobs always forget about pocket presence et al when they see a great arm. If we keep winning (in this down QB year) he'll go 2nd - 3rd.

As in we get shutout because our defense is pretty good also. Aggy  can be all healthy and still struggle to score on us.

His lofted passes aren’t going to look any better for scouts than they do for us.

If QE is still hobbling and we think we've got a CFB Playoff spot regardless of beating aggy - play Arch.

It'd be kinda fun to beat those clowns with our "3-star" QB.

Unpopular opinion:

I could see it going the other way.
This is a game we don’t have to win.
I could see sark sticking with ewers just to avoid the nonsense that would come with a QB controversy simmering for 3 weeks before the playoff game if arch comes in and plays well.

Also has the added benefit of keeping arch off the game film if/when ewers is in effective in the playoff and you actually do need to go to arch.

“But this is A&M. This, like ou, is a game you don’t lose if you want to be the coach at Texas for a while.”

I hear ya… but couldn’t you see sark not fully appreciating what Saturday and this rivalry means? (Like arky 3 years ago).

And then never making that mistake again and winning the next 9 in a row?
