Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet

Coach pop a bitch

Ignoring his actual performance, I have no clue why any team would draft Ewers in the early rounds.
When is the last time he's been healthy? He's been hobbling around for 2+ years and didn't he also have injury issues in HS?

Yes, he’s been hurt his entire HS and college career. He’s great when healthy. He hasn’t been healthy since September.

“We can’t run the football”. You know what would help? If we had a QB who was a threat to pull the ball every once in a while to keep the defense honest…if we had a QB who could break sacks and extend plays instead of curl into the fetal position at the first sign of pressure.

He literally has done those things in the last two games. Maybe not as often as you think he should have, but the hyperbole is just unnecessary.

If only yards decided football games

Yeah, the problem is the red zone puts too many defenders in Quinn's only strong suit.  If those defenders are skilled and fast, we either have to run it or get lucky.  And the likelihood of pressure getting to Ewers and causing an extreme fuckup grows geometrically.

he was great against bama in 2022 before he got knocked out.  outside of that game he’s been pretty solid more than a couple of times.  I’d say the majority of his college career he’s been an average quarterback who dabbles in horrifically awful.

When has he ever finished a full season? That's our problem. We really need him to do well and GTFO off to the NFL. Now it becomes which program are we going to have to watch him portal to?

Quinn is not 100%.   He does not have the mobility to elude rushes from elite Ds at this point.  Sark is not doing him any favors calling slower developing plays.  That’s a liability in games when we cannot develop a running game like today to keep the Ds honest.  So, what, just chuck the ball up in a lofty arc and cross fingers that the two bad things don’t happen.

The problem is we cannot run the football. They were killing the interior of our line. You can't ask the quarterback to be the entirety of your offense. You also can't ask the quarterback to recover from 100 yards worth of offensive calls either.

The problem with Ewers is he has major limitations. He's not mobile at all and his deep ball is terrible.

You know there's a problem when all we can say about Ewers is "he's pretty good in the short and intermediate passing game." We are already limiting the offense when we resort to that being the strength of our offense.

+10000

I watched the B12 OSU game prior to this one.  Completely different mobile QB.  Night and day.

I don't think anybody is blaming Ewers. We have other issues on offense and ST.
The problem is we thought Ewers was a game changer that could go off and win these type of games. He's just an above-average QB with a lot of limitations. Ewers doesn't suck but he's also not a top-tier college QB.

You don’t think anybody is blaming Ewers? Have you not read this thread? Your opinion is one that others might disagree with but it’s a real legitimate, reasonable take. Not all criticisms of Quinn on this thread are in the same ballpark.

All those damn rushing yards against A&M and we still couldn’t score a fucking point in the entire second half. It’s Ewers holding the team back. He’s the common denominator for our lack of offensive production. Blaming Auburn is fair, but our QB needs to spend more time learning how to reach the end zone instead of begging for pussy pics and making lame NIL commercials.

Who was open?

Moore had at least half a step and outside leverage on 2nd down in OT. That fade pass was nowhere close.

To be clear, the loss was not solely on Quinn. But he had chances to win it and did not execute.

Bro why are you faking the second time against the Georgia defense??? Fake the swing pass and throw to the wide goddamn open guy in the corner of the endzone

Sark may need to fire that play into the sun against a good defense that can sniff it out.

Ewers was the entire offense tonight. All of it. Why are we talking about aggy?

Ewers wasn’t in the top 3 reasons why we lost today, but tell me, do you actually believe that when the game is on the line the combo of sark and Quinn is going to go win the game for you? I had zero hope that we were going to get into the end zone on the last drive in regulation or in OT.

Silver lining time: So that was probably the best outcome for Texas. We now get a much easier first and second round game, had we won, we woudlve likely faced UGA again or OSU.

We are very likely to face the 12 seed at home, followed by the 4 seed. The opponents will be two of these three teams (Clemson, Boise St, AZ State). That will allow us to build momentum before facing Oregon. If we beat Oregon, we arent losing to UGA for a third time or whoever comes out of the other side of the bracket.

So after watching this game, we are winning the national championship with Bert the kicker, Jekyll and Hyde Quinn, and sark calling red zone plays? Ok.

This game was lost by Auburn, the offensive line and Sark playcalling.

the end.

You guys on here need to start giving the supposedly elite OL the same treatment you give Quinn.

28 rushes for 31 yards is a coat hanger abortion.   They got their balls crushed tonight.

Not the end.  I agree on Sark’s play calling and Auburn.  I also add Quinn and special teams.

With only one play, Arch was 10% of our running (excluding sacks).  Quinn was a statue and probably hobbled.  That matters to a defense.  Having a running quarterback changes the defense.  Quinn is not elite enough to be a statue and that is a big reason we lost.  Not the only reason but a big reason.
