I'm sure the lack of running game had little to do with that, or being way behind the chains in certain situations. You hate QE, its ok to admit that even though it doesn't benefit you, him, or the university.

Fans dislike QBs that can't carry their teams in crunch time. Also, news at 11.

They have an elite DL and they only have to concentrate on defending a portion of the field because we are limited in what Quinn is capable of doing.

Batted balls aren't on QBs unless he is rolling out and a free rusher is in his face. Young inexperienced linemen make for batted balls, not understanding to keep engaged on a DL so they can't jump and bat balls. Notice who the batted balls happen against. Williams almost always and our freshman LT tonite. Do you remember any other linemen this season having the man across from them bat balls?

Pretty sure Majors and Connor have had them too. At this point, I’m gonna say every olineman that Quinn’s played behind has given up one. He’s not tall, and throws from a 3/4 arm slot most of the time.

The next time you're watching a random CFB game, focus on the QB. Time how long it takes until you see the QB make a throw that Quinn can't make. You won't have to wait very long.

Quinn is insanely limited in terms of the throws he can make and he's not a running threat. This hamstrings our entire offense. He can throw screens, lofted passes, and slants that get plenty of YAC outside the red zone. But when you're in the redzone you need more in your arsenal and Quinn doesn't have it. You need arm strength.

I think he’s got great arm strength he just doesn’t use it. He doesn’t step into passes and zip the ball.

Who fucking cares? People who criticize Quinn on the field are not questioning his character off the field. It’s fucking weak to counter any criticism of Quinn by attacking posters who say Quinn’s not playing at the level we expect of a Texas QB getting paid millions of dollars.

Go watch any college football game. There will be times the QB has to evade the rush and they all do it. It’s not abnormal for the QB to have to move around.

Yep, that too. If we had last year's defense, we aren't even sniffing the playoff this year and both Georgia games are 30pt blowouts. We also lose to aggy this year with last year's defense.
Would be a shame to waste this defense. Especially in today's football where great defenses just aren't as common.

If last years defense was trotting out there, there wouldn’t have been a second GA game.

Why all of a sudden is money a factor in QB performance in college football? Did you pay him? Did your University?, Your family? Your coach? Show me where Quinn touched you. Was out in your naughty place? The only thing hurt was your expectations of a 21-22 year old athlete. You should be forced to change your screen name, I'll keep mine.

Are you implying we lost today because of QE?

We lost the game because of Auburn. We didn’t win the game because Quinn doesn’t have the guts to put the team on his back and drive them down the field for a touchdown at the end of regulation or OT. Just like the Washington game last year. Quinn is an average QB at best. I’m just disappointed that Sark is willing to throw away the season with an epic defense because he’s too stubborn to do what everyone else knows needs to be done- bench the one guy who can stop your offense: Ewers.

Dear lord... I knew it was ugly, but didn't realize we sucked that bad in the 2nd half. Not gonna blame that all on Quinn as I feel like Sark's play calling can get a bit wonky in the 2nd half... but that is really depressing with the talent we have on this team.

Shit, if we had last year Ewers we’d be undefeated with this defense. Dude hasn’t been the same guy since about Week 3.

One other thing seems pretty obvious now, which I don't think anyone has brought up. Many posters praised Sark for his not wanting to run up the score on teams - some thought it to be professional or some kind of noble gesture or something. Some said it was because he played a lot of 2nd stringers, although I'm not so sure about that, but what seems apparent to me is that when you're fucking around with your foot off the gas, you aren't honing your blade that you're gonna need when the big boys come to town.

I caught a lot of heat for suggesting that Sark bring in Arch in the middle of the third qtr against Michigan and beat those motherfuckers 65-10 or something like that. In retrospect, that "All Gas" mantra has just been a load of bullshit. When you pull back, you are depriving every player on that field of honing his skills, especially the stars, but including second stringers. Instead of getting more first downs and touchdowns, you're farting around then punting and putting the onus back on the Defense.

We saw a number of dropped balls tonight. Why the fuck was that! Too much fucking around in all those previous games against mediocre teams. Sark gets a lead and sort of sits on it. He has essentially wasted Manning this entire year, when he wasn't starting. That's on Sark, goddammit. He sure as fuck wasted him tonight... One other thing: it sort of feels like he's gonna continue to waste him for the rest of the year even when Ewers shits the bed against yet another team we should have beaten and we get knocked out of the running - because Ewers ain't gonna beat anybody really good. Sort of like tonight.

then why are the batted balls only happening with one lineman? Why are they not happening all across the entire front? Tonite was the first time all season a batted ball happened on the left and it happened with a freshman. Keep in mind Arch has had batted balls too.

Quinn just isn’t a fast processor. Remember Scipio writing about Jalen Hurts at OU? How Riley had to call plays that let him work off his first read, because he couldn’t process a second read? That’s Quinn. He can be effective off the script (practiced) and RPOs. After that’s done, his effectiveness drops.

Intelligence has a lot of facets. Vince wasn’t the most fluid thinker, but he was a very fast processor. Quinn just isn’t.

With the right matchups, we can win some games. The defense is terrific and there aren’t any dominant teams. We’ll go as far as Quinn and the defense can take us.

And look at how dumb that Scipio post was about Hurts. Does it look like Hurts struggles to process while quarterbacking the 10-2 Eagles? Or maybe it's the same ole tired bullshit about how black quarterbacks can't read defenses that we hear every year. Here is a question for you and all the usual subjects. @C-Man@BurntOrange&White@naija@MrBig@HtownHorn@hobbes2702 and anyone else really. Take a minute to think about this game and answer honestly. I have no what the actual dynamics are, but Sark's handling of Quinn mentally just hasn't worked out IMO. The reality is Quinn has played a lot worse in games we won than he did tonight, but few people really bitched about it then and it doesn't look like Sark really addressed it either.  The 9.95ers at OTF (mainly Gerry,Shipley, Coach Erwin) have been biting their tongues about Quinn since he returned from injury.  You can tell they all think he's not getting it done, but tough to say anything when Texas continued to stack wins. Will be interesting to see what they say this week, especially considering Quinn wasn't the biggest issue tonight.

The footwork and fundamentals with Quinn continue to be an issue in Year 3, and it's unacceptable. Is his QB trainer still heavily involved with him during the season? Why hasn't that stuff improved under Sark and Milwee? Why can't Quinn rip it when needed? Why are there clear mental blocks 30+ games into his career?

Sark did everything in his power to cater to Quinn this year. After 2 UGA losses and below average performances offensively in many other games, let's please move forward doing everything we can to win a NC.

Again, not at all what's going on. We don't run a lot of stuff that Quinn is good at. At all!!! There is a reason Sark's offense didn't translate to the NFL and we are seeing why here. It is hard to throw the football out of 12 personnel. It is hard to run those slow developing, back to the field play fakes. We don't run a lot of passing concepts that most teams run. Simple outs, stops, curls, and comebacks aren't in our passing game with any frequency. When we came out in 11 personnel and just dropped back and threw it Quinn was cooking. Where we bog down is when we go away from that back to ball control sets. Tonite we got ourselves in trouble wasting early downs trying to establish the running game and then asking the quarterback to repeatedly bail us out. Sark is stubborn vs Georgia and keeps trying to win by playing in a phone booth and you aren't going to beat them like that. You need to be able to spread them out and ask them to tackle in space. Run out of 11 personnel. Spread them out and prevent them from disguising their defense. Move people away from the box so your QB has space to take off when they turn their back to him. Georgia did to us what we should've done to them. They spread us out and ran on us. They spread us out and ran the QB with a lead blocker. We aren't good enough across all O-line positions to win every matchup. Someone always loses a 1v1 and we have negative plays. Sark is very stubborn with his offense. We just line up and try to "Out-Texas" everyone and it works until we come up against an uber-talented squad.

Take your whining to the QE bitching thread. Pathetic.

Look I get it defending the QB but everyone can see Ewers is holding this team from reaching its full capability. Not saying Manning would come in and be perfect but Ewers is folding under pressure and everyone can see it.
between the 25 Ewers may be really really good but once them holes get tighter in the red zone and the defense can play up Ewers folds.

college football is moving to Mobile QB’s and unfortunately that’s not Ewers

Stop trying to shift blame. This is the QE thread. He plays the most important position on the field. With him driving the bus we do not score points. Hanyes fucking King torched this defense last week.

We don’t run a lot of stuff he’s good at because he’s not good at a lot of stuff Sarks offense requires. This offense looks nothing like previous Sark offenses because they’re predicated on big play passing game downfield.  The  you go on to describe a spread offense is what we need to be running…lol come on loser

Sigh. Have you noticed how the Eagles offense works? You haven’t , have you? It is RPO- heavy, just like Texas runs with Ewers. Hurts is the same height as Quinn, 30# heavier, and a far superior runner.

I made the Hurts comparison as an example of how a QB can have success (Hurts had a lot of success) while still having holes in his game, if the team can compensate for deficiencies. Against good defenses, Ewers is hard to compensate for.

all the cute stuff sark does when it's just back to basics smash the guy in front of your face football is what fucks up the run game against Georgia.

Quinn not being a run threat and unable to shake an arm tackle or two every now and again against this Georgia defensive front is also a big reason they can stay home and just rush their lane etc.

I think a few posters have put it best. Quinn played good enough to win tonight, but didn't win the game when he could.

Its a bummer, but the guy just isn't a winner in the sense that he becomes possessed and must win at all costs.

Beck went in with 1 arm and handed it off to win the game. The entire time he was out on the sidelines he was shown seething and clearly wanting to play with one fucking arm - still locked in as if he was to go in every play. He wasn't smiling, loligagging, he was actively communicating with the backup, completely plugged in on the walkie talkie to the plays coming in. He was a fucking gamer.

This is what people dont see from Quinn and why he's catching a lot of shit for not winning the game himself.

He just isn't the guy, and sark needed a hero QB tonight and instead he got a good enough QB.

I agree with most of what you're saying. However, I don't think we needed a hero quarterback *last night. I think we need a QB that had the ability to run some and more frequently throw accurate non-loft long balls.

If only we knew where to find one.

Our D kept us in the game, but Kirby out coached Sark primarily based on Sark's habits and Quinn’s weaknesses.

Quality Ds and coaching staffs will be able to do the same.

Quinn is a good college quarter back. I'm still smoking hopium Sark alters his mindset and plays Arch more, and Quinn doesn't Quinn it up in the playoffs... but I'm pretty sure I'll need to mainline some copium before the season is over.

Still have my national championship ticket...
