i’ve already predicted it ….

UT / Ewers wins the title. Ewers announces he’s coming back in the post game interview

Some people in this thread would be miserable if that happened.

Just double checking but there’s no way he comes back to Texas right? He did walk on senior day so I’m hoping he sticks with that. No way Sark screws us over and keeps Quinn while manning transfers? Has on3 said this is Quinn’s last year at Texas regardless of what happens?

My completely non-insider belief is that Ewers would be told, essentially, "We all agreed on the plan. Thanks, but no thanks."

I will say though, Ewers played a better game than he's getting credit for yesterday. Pretty good argument that he's the reason Texas moved the ball so well. A few of those mistakes were just kicks in the nuts though. The duality of Quinn Ewers.

Sark fucking sucked yesterday. Screen passes NEVER work against a team with Georgia's defensive speed and yet we ran several. Also for play action to work you need to be somewhat successful running the ball if not you are just setting the QB up to be sacked.

Unfortunately our offensive savant can't get out of his own way and has to continue to call plays GA feasts on.

The good news is Clemson & ASU don't have the requisite speed to fuck us. In fact only Ohio State, Oregon, & Georgia likely are the only teams that do.

The play action worked because of how aggressive Georgia was defending the run game. Unfortunately, it also backfired when we could not make or hold our blocks due to the run action (and all the pulling). Some of our best stuff was long passes in either max protect or out of play action. The game plan wasn't entirely crazy. But I think Sark sometimes goes too heavy on the eye candy in those play fakes. I think we would be better served with a lot more quickly developing play fakes rather than the long drawn out ones. You need both, but we were overly reliant on the latter.

Between the red zone, sure. In the red zone he fucking sucked.

Not true. We just don’t have the horses to run the ball against UGA. We usually just get what the play is blocked for. Uga was keen to stopping the outside zone and let Quinn beat you. Quinn did not beat them

I think Quinn is a good QB and I think he really did enough to win the game yesterday. He had two picks, but he also accounted for the second most passing yards allowed by the Georgia defense all season. And if we don’t have a false start on a field goal, there’s a chance the game never goes to overtime and we walk out with a win.

However, I think the biggest knock against Quinn is that in his 3 years here I think you can only count maybe 1 game where he made the throw that won you the game. And that was against a pretty mid TCU team last year. The other chances he’s had to engineer a legacy defining drive, he’s come up short.

I think there is a realistic chance that Texas wins a championship this year, but only if Quinn doesn’t have to go on a game winning drive to do so. Otherwise, I fear we’re out of luck. I want to give him grace and I want him to prove me wrong because I want every Longhorn to succeed at the highest level. But right now the gameplan has to be build a lead and then hold on for dear life in the second half.

This stuff is so funny.

BTW, thank God for Ewers that our defense stopped A&M at the 1 yard line last week. If they score to make it 17-14, even if we win there would have been a ton more heat on Quinn heading into this week.

Ignore the bad shit in wins, focus on the good shit in losses...the life of a Longhorn sunshine pumper.

If you thought the problem was us not calling more run plays for a loss, you are mistaken. Maybe different run calls would work (we had some success out of the pistol in the first half). But Georgia shut down our bread and butter outside zone and the few times we tried something different in the second half didn't work well either. We simply don't deal well with Georgia's speed freaks. Playing Arch probably would have unlocked more of the run game. I think he would have been better option in the redzone for that reason.

Sark just loves to come out passing no matter what.

First drive -

- Pass

- Pass

- Pass

- Pass

- Sack

- Run (on 2nd and 11)

- INT

To be honest, I would have liked Sark to dust off the 1987 playbook and run a trap or 2. The guards were getting destroyed in the run game. Ear-holing a DT on trap or Wham block might have slowed them down. Might have been a disaster also, but I would like to see more quick hitting plays vs Georgia. They are just so fast sideline to sideline.

You're cherry picking drives. Our 3rd drive of the game started with a 5 yard run and then a 10 yard run with Wisner. I brought up the first drive for a reason, as it is scripted.

I'm not saying we should have pounded the ball. It was TOUGH sledding out there. But when you say we've found an identity in the run game, then come out throwing on 6 of the first 7 plays (like we seemingly do a lot), you're not trying to establish a run game at the outset.

We averaged 1.1 yards per rush on 28 carries. Our backs averaged 2.7 and 1.0 yards per carry. How am I cherry picking? I know you want the story to be that we should have just tried running more. It would have been foolish to try that with how Georgia was playing us.

I'm specifically talking to start the game. I wasn't begging for running calls in the 2nd half. We needed to throw to move the ball.

Do you think coming out running to start the game would have worked any differently? If not, why are we discussing it? Passing was the right call. We just needed to not commit penalties, not turn it over, and to catch the ball. We didn't do that. Arch in the redzone would also have been a good idea as I do think that would have opened up more opportunities in a compact field.

Both overrated but Steinfeld significantly hotter. Woodley is a pale wildebeest and you should feel bad for bringing her up multiple times as something attractive. She’s not.

Redzone is where this game was lost.  Texas was great between the 20s, but equally as bad in the Redzone. That meant Texas had a lot of empty yards.  This is year 2 of passing issues in the red zone. This is where Arch could been the difference in the game, but we will never know

We're just talking in circles, man.

If the goal was to establish a running game from the start, who knows what would have happened. Maybe we go 3 and out. Maybe Wisner fumbles. Maybe he breaks one and gives the o-line some early confidence. In the end, it doesn't matter now.

We decided to put the game in Quinn's hands. I think he flashed enough to give us a chance to win in the end. Didn't happen. We move on.

It'll be interesting to find out if the redzone issues are Quinn, Sark, or (as I suspect) a bit of both. I still think this team with just j whitt from last year would actually kill it in the redzone.

The next time you're watching a random CFB game, focus on the QB. Time how long it takes until you see the QB make a throw that Quinn can't make. You won't have to wait very long.

Quinn is insanely limited in terms of the throws he can make and he's not a running threat. This hamstrings our entire offense. He can throw screens, lofted passes, and slants that get plenty of YAC outside the red zone. But when you're in the redzone you need more in your arsenal and Quinn doesn't have it. You need arm strength.

That’s a retarded tweet and a bad post by the Shaggy Eeyore. You clearly were not watching last night when Quinn threw the ball down the field all game and YAC wasn’t the bulk of the yardage. It amazes me what his critics see.

It’s funny.  If Quinn makes the throw to Wingo when he has 2 steps on the DB instead of underthrowing and getting the PI, it’s a whole different conversation today.  That one throw would have changed the entire narrative and we’d be champs.  He has to make those throws in the playoffs for us to make a run.

We were missing different pieces each year. Last year we didn't have a TE that could block. This year we don't have a ton of chemistry between our receivers and QB. Adding a J whitt safety blanket with sure hands would be really nice for those tight throws in the redzone. Just a theory.

It seems to me that there's a very good argument to be made that there's no way Texas, with Arch taking half of the snaps against Georgia (with an "Arch Gameplan", of course), would have done any worse than the meager 16 fucking points that Ewers put on the board in Regulation. We probably would have fared a little better with him getting just half the snaps, maybe a lot better.

Therefore, there's an even stronger argument to be made that Arch should get half the snaps against Clemson, so that he can be ready to take on whatever comes after Clemson, because there is zero chance that Ewers can win the big one - zero - and that we absolutely have to get Manning into the game ASAP and not just for a couple of plays (for Christ Sakes). Only Manning can take us to the promised land. He needs to play at least half of the Clemson game, goddammit.

Asking for Arch is simply wish-casting at this point. Sark has shown that he will not make a change until Ewers simply can’t go any longer.

That said, just use him a little — like Urban did with Tebow when the Gators won his national title. Let him make a throw or two. Clearly the running game struggled against Georgia. What do you have to lose?

After the stats have come out about Quinn's 8-game second half production? Mostly against mediocre teams? I just don't think Sark will continue to fuck this team for Quinn's sake. He absolutely must realize the guy has a problem in the red zone and that means giving Arch a lot more than just a couple of snaps.

Watching NFL games today and I'm thinking Quinn doesn't look like a single one of these guys. Guys with legitimate strong arms like Darnold, Stafford, Josh Allen rip balls into tight windows with velocity is such a beautiful thing. His ceiling in the NFL is backup as far as I am concerned at this point. Likely a late 3rd(absolute best case scenario) to 7th round pick.

I'm not sure which team takes a flyer on Quinn at all. He has zero zip on his passes. You float every pass in the pros, you will be destroyed with the speed they have. He also has terrible RedZone accuracy, and that's against college defenses.

I'd take Cooper Rush any day of the week over Quinn

Both Texas and Georgia had budding superstars standing on the sideline. Only one of those got a chance to make a meaningful contribution - which he did. He fucking decided to run the ball right up our gut - and he won the fucking game for Georgia. Yeah, he got his bell rung, but he'll be back after a big rest (that we won't get).

Had both budding superstars had a shot in this game, it's almost a lock ours woulda come out on top. Because Arch would have had a better Defense playing behind him.

Arch should be given the same playbook as Quinn. It’s detrimental to treat him differently just because Quinn is is a frail statue. I’m not sure if sark is treating him differently, I think it’s possible, but it should not happen.

No one knows how he would have fared in the game.

Not being able to run the ball consistently is our biggest problem on offense.

Shadeur and Cam Ward would eat behind that line. Every once in a while Quinn will make a throw where you stop and say "well damn...that was nice" but if everything has to go 100 percent smoothly in all facets of a play for a 3rd year QB to have a modicum of success then that's a problem with the QB, the really good ones can do stuff off script.

I think you are reading too much into the last 2 appearances for Arch. Sark didn’t use him as a running QB in his 2 starts. He has used him as a change a pace the last 2 games. Bringing in a QB that can run the ball in the red zone. I suspect that package might get a bit deeper based on Sark’s comments about the Georgia game, but only time will tell
