Theres no way you compare a tight formation on 3rd and 1 to 1st and 10.

I added another screenshot on 1st and 10 to prove my point for this exact reason, someone will cry foul. Either you have a loaded box or you don't, it is simple math. Any player on defense can play the run from anywhere they stand, if you are 10 yards off it is less effective unless it his a slow developing play which  we seem to think would work against Georgia and of course it didn't.

You are being pretty literal here.  For example UGa had a S 10 yards off the ball with no WR to his side.  Our RB 7 yards off the ball.  That S can easily play run whether he is in the box.

Theres no way you compare a tight formation on 3rd and 1 to 1st and 10.

I also thought Kirby was giving us different looks to keep us confused.

He was very good. He had 50 front look on most the outside zone runs. He would also bring pass rush stunts on 1st down and was generally right. Very rarely did Texas catch Georgia with a light box on a run play. I dont know if Kirby found some tells or was playing the man, not the cards, but either way the defensive call calling from Georgia was excellent.

You need to start with the assumption that DCs want to present different looks occasionally.  Or that they wish to present similar looks presnap but different post snap looks.

Simple math in my point says that the RB and S meet 3 yards beyond the line of scrimmage.  3 yards per rush is considered successful.  That’s almost what Wisner had, and he had more in game 1.

By the way we were successful versus Vandy, two backs at 4.5+ per carry.

We averaged 1.1 yards per carry, anyway I don't disagree with anything you say, I got into this conversation because someone posted a screenshot saying Georgia had 7 in the box and they didn't, they had 5. I'm only trying to convey what the box is and how you count people in it. It is a given at this point that the defense is going to disguise and move people post snap.

2 things

Texas RBs average 2.52 yards. Sucks, but not 1.1. Hate College includes sacks in running stats

There is not a picture I showed where Georgia had 5 in the box. There were 3 Georgia pictures and 2 had 5 men on the LOS and 1 had 4, none had 5 in the box.

If you post a picture with 5 on the line and the LBs 7-8 yards off the LoS that is 5 in the box by the definition I posted.

We just need to RUN THE DAMN BALL. When we rush for over 100 we win. When we don't, we lose. Simple as that. This includes getting Arch more involved in the game plan. If we want to win a National Title this year, he needs to get more involved. I truly believe that.

Georgia's strategy was take away the run and make Quinn beat them and it worked.

It appears you can count to 7, congrats, that education paid off however when you are counting numbers in "the box", it is defenders you count. Not sure how you didn't know that but by all means, continue to educate the thread.

You're right the defense should see 7 blockers in and go 3 high prevent!

How beneficial is it for Georgia to have Will Muschamp as an analyst to help prep for Texas?  Am I overrating that aspect?

He left Texas before the 2011 season.  I'm not sure how he'd know anything more than any other coach would know from film study, talking to friends on other staffs, etc.

Removing QB sack yardage from rushing totals these are the rushing numbers

Georgia1: 17 carries, 64 yards, 3.76 YPC
Georgia2: 22 carries, 58 yards, 2.63 YPC
Vandy(Because yall reference it): 27 carries, 126 yards, 4.67 YPC

Georgia plays LB's at 5. You will see an occasional 4-6. That was the Eagle look, which was what I was told teams are not presenting agaist Texas. You have the LB moving out with Wingo on the motion (Smael Mondon is such a beast. Best LB I have seen this year. Does everything). You have the Safety rotating down at the snap, which essentially adds to the Box. That is technically a 6 man box, not a 5. 5 on LOS and 1 ILB. You also have a Cb sitting at 4 yards capable of helping on the run. Which sadly reminds me of watching a CB stuff Dj Campbell on a pull

Great, pretty easy to see why we lost both to Georgia. I've already presented similar evidence once. Easy to see the correlation between winning and losing. When our Line gets whipped we lose, surprise, surprise.

Ok, so you have a different definition of "in the box". Fine. You do you.

I'll make it easy for the window licking crowd........We didn't commit to run the ball and didn't succeed at a high enough level when we did run it.

So you going to answer? Just because you see a look at 1st and 10 with 20 seconds on the play clock isn't always the look you get with 5-10 seconds left before the snap

My post wasn't, isn't and never will be about that particular play but since you are a persistent idiotic cunt that I love to prove wrong, below is the fucking snip you imbecile.

Wonder if playing Arch a lot more could get the running game going? Seems like teams don't have to worry about any run threat with Quinn?

Per Bobby just now....

Between 20s Georgia ran majority 6 man boxes(not every box between the 20s was 6 man for the people who think things literally) and that's where our best runs came. Once we got into RZ they added extra players and pin their ears back.

So basically Georgia was okay with giving up the yards until the Rz.

It was a joke bud.  But what if the other team scores 0 - 7 looks good

Second half being shitty for offense hinders the teams potential to win a national championship. It works when you play a shit offense like Aggie, backup QBs, etc. But what about when we have to play an Ohio St, an Oregon, perhaps UGA again?

Just now, Hookem10 said:

Almost - they must of known our kicker would miss field goals also I guess - hit one of them and we win

It doesn't take much to know our kicker would miss field goals....he's been doing it all year.

You want to see loaded boxes, put Arch in. If they use him more, he is going to have to throw the ball some to lighten that box. I also wouldn't mind a 5 wide empty set draw from Arch. Exactly what Georgia did to us with their backup of course Makuba almost decapitated him.

I’m posting in hypotheticals when someone said 7 points is not enough - I was saying 7 is plenty if we hold the other team to 0.

Do you feel more comfortable with Arch hitting deep passes against loading box or Quinn?

So hypothetically what if Quinn throws a pick 6 or a fumble 6 in the playoff?

The UGA game came down to making one play.

Things are not gonna go smoothly vs. a UGA defense. Lots went wrong for Texas, as said before 20 things went wrong. Bad breaks, bad penalties, and some bad football. But ugly games happen, and one team wins them.

In the end, we needed our QB to make one fucking play late in the game. Just one. He has the ball in his hands every down. It is the most important position in sports. He is the 3rd year starter, and leader of the offense. One fucking play. Just like Washington last year. Good news is he has another opportunity next week (and hopefully more) to get it done.

I would love to know the reads here.

I think Quinn makes a shitty lofted throw. If he hits Wingo out of the break in with a pass on a rope it's an easy catch. Wingo turned his defender around with his route and was open just out of the break.

We probably lose since the playoff is about winning no matter what. But what if Dillon Gabriel throws 5 interceptions against us in the final four. Are we gonna lose that one

I just wonder if that is a 1 wr route. Numbers favor working the trip side. Cb was able to re-route Wingo to the numbers (He tried to get an outside release, surprise Georgia is coached well). Not ton of room there.

The back and forth against or for qe is great for message board fodder but damn, every team has issues and bad games happen for every team. The talk like our team is the only one that is shitty is erroneous. Just win baby whether Trey Owens or Quinn or arch is moving the ball.

Which one play is that? Oh that is right, only one of the ones Quinn missed right? Not the dropped passes, missed blocks, stupid penalties, no calls by officials or missed kick plays is it. Of course not.

JFC, man. Read the words in the post.

I'll spell it out for you, though. The final drive of regulation or OT.
