Quinn "La Joya" Ewers - The Man The Myth The Mullet

Coach pop a bitch

outside of Florida down the stretch of the season I've seen a starting QB be bad in the second half of games so much so the coach literally took the ball out of his hands to run clock. You can contrive some romanticism shit about Sark just inserting dominance or whatever the fuck you want, but reality is Quinn isn't good in the second half.

Numbers don't lie

Haven’t we already pointed out that these games were so lopsided we weren’t trying to score?

I showed you a player decommitting due to social media. You then demanded the argument should change to a random person on twitter and not a coach is YOUR creation.

Come on man. You know there’s a difference between you and me going on Twitter and talking shit as opposed to a coach doing it. Obviously, to anyone with a couple of brain cells, the coach’s voice will carry more weight.

I think it's a bit of both. His ceiling is higher, but he has to get out of his head or whatever is holding him back to reach that potential to go on a run. Maybe beating Clemson opens him up. But if not, we'll be relying on our D once again. At least it's legit..

Another thing, we have small RB's, so running between the tackles will be difficult, but not impossible. Quinn needs to stop leaning on his first read and find the field. Too many open WR's and he's missing them.

You're also right- No one hates Quinn, they just get frustrated with his play, or lack thereof; I wish he would be a leader, but he is what he is.

I don't think I would be as frustrated as I am if the hype surrounding him hadn't been as high as it was.

Texas is ranked 106th in red zone scoring percentage. Who does that fall on?

Which is somehow still an improvement over last year. Hey maybe in the redzone where the field shrinks and windows are tighter, we should use another QB on our roster that performs better in those situations. Our redzone scoring % was actually good the first half of the season, and a big part of that was Arch started 2 of those games and played the majority of another one.

Does he have those numbers anywhere?

I'm sure he does if you ask him.

But his point is 100% right. We have a top 5 OC (based on past data) and top-5 offensive talent based on recruiting rankings. There is no reason that Ewers shouldn't be putting up "otherworldly cheat code level" numbers.

It's super convenient how when Maalik Murphy is his backup, he is very cautious about playing through an injury and willing to miss conference games. But when Arch Manning is his backup, suddenly he is Mr. Ironman and willing to trudge through all sorts of injury.

Probably has more to do with the fact that he needs to prove he can fight through injuries and actually be available to play to the NFL.

Lmao.  bet it’s a leak from his agent >>>> NFLRookieWatxh is full of shit

You're right but I think that's his bigger point.

It's either a leak from his agent or that NFLRookieWatxh is completely full of shit because nobody is paying Ewers $4 million based on what he's done in college.

If Sark couldn't maximize Quinn's potential, there aren't many other coaches who can. Maybe kiffin or Riley? Why would any school risk millions for someone who couldn't live up to his expectation at Texas surrounded by NFL talent? I don't think he will get more than what he got this year. He is not considered a top QB any more.

Low end signing bonus in the 1st round is ~ $5M-$6M.  A $4M college deal (if available) wouldn't suck, because few people think he's a Day 1 player any more.  I don't know at what point in the 2nd round the signing bonuses drop below $4M, and of course there is the guaranteed component of the rest of an NFL contract, but a transfer for good NIL money might not be the worst idea.  I just don't think he'll match whatever NFL money he can actually make.  Plus, injury risk.

If he doesn't implode in the playoffs, go pro, dude.  Take what you get.

Maybe he will just decide his best option is to continue playing here another year and get better to enhance his value for the NFL.

1) It's pretty clear that Texas is moving on to Manning next year.

2) Ewers is going to want $. Like mentioned above, Ewers isn't worth what he's going to want.
