That was not really what was called for, so I don’t get this argument. A QB taking over  a game would imply winning in a shootout or having multiple 4Q TD drives. That is not the same as needing 17 over the course of a game.

Yea I mean I didn’t make the original statement and he edited it after the fact like a pussy so.

When are we gonna spin up the KJ Lacey and Dia Bell threads in preparation for Arch Manning not being an NFL QB right off the bat and KJ Lacey being everything Arch isn't BUT THEN KJ Lacey being the worst thing ever because Texas is 40-2 under him so Dia Bell is our savior? That's how this works right?

If everyone does their job except the guy who handles the ball every offensive snap we have a new piece of hardware, got it. Good point!

If Quinn was playing for Ole Miss when they played Georgia Ole Miss beats Georgia worse than they did with Dart at QB. What is your point?

I see no evidence why that would be the case at all. Just because you say it doesn’t make it true.

I think this one is a little different. These discussions rarely happen to a QB in his  3rd year starting. They haven’t happened since Simms was the starting QB. The situations are very similar.  This is the best chance Texas is going to have at NC since Colt. Next year is at a minimum a reload. You clearly have a QB that has underperformed expectations and that isn’t up for debate (see top 10 pick predictions and Heisman talk). You have Arch on the bench, who looked excellent in his last start. You can add the media flaming the flames and it’s not hard to see how this discussion has become so heated.

Starting QB needs to quit being a pussy and learn to put a team on his fucking back. Nah, that's too much to ask for....Sark has to scheme up perfect plays and calls for him because he can't do anything outside of structure.

There was a discussion of a specific point/topic going on. Hour post has jack shit to do with it. It’s getting weirder.

Quinn for all the NIL he does and all the hype he has around him and all the talk about him sure does give fucking potato level interviews and often doesn't do media availability. I feel like a bunch of this negative sentiment comes from the general feeling that he doesn't get the context of his position on the team as a celebrity etc.

QB1 at Texas isn't just about playing good on the field, that's why everyone fucking LOVED Sam. If Quinn gave interviews half as good as Taaffe people would probably have a much more positive sentiment, since he doesn't and acts a certain way and hides behind the aww shucks I'm just shy and soft spoken thing people think he's just a fucking moron who doesn't get it and isn't as pissed off as he should be about losses.

Listening to xm college radio and Jimbo is on talking about Texas.  Says after they talk about Quinn’s completion percentage with blitzes and he says with a blitzes it’s impossible to cover all those guys downfield….  He literally doesn’t know all those passes are to check downs and screens.  If you don’t watch a team every week you do not know wtf is going on actually….  Hints why the national media was slow to calling Ewers out, but most are reviewing and doing it now.

A lot of the negative sentiment is from people wanting to see Quinn throw more lasers instead of floaters. And then we get attacked by Quinn supporters saying we hate Quinn. We don’t hate Quinn, we just want him to play better. It has nothing to do with NIL or his commercials or interviews.

Look at the practice clip throws below. The difference between the two is painfully obvious. I’m not saying “put in Arch” I’m just asking Quinn to drop it in the breadbasket like Arch. Less floaters and moon balls should help with the drops as well.

I don't recall Colt and VY giving spectacular interviews... Maybe because nobody gives a shit about anything except winning.

People loved Sam because he was winning.

Arch touched the ball one time the following week vs. Georgia in OT, and it seems pretty clear Sark just wanted to get positive rushing yardage on 1st down and considered Arch the best option.

That would pretty much equate to “saving it for the playoffs.”

We’ll see either way.

Hope we don’t need anything like that Saturday

this stuff kills me.  I have no idea where it started but every time an athlete yells when they are coming back or pissed about something commentators started talking about the "intensity! will to win! blah blah fucking blah, look at his/her passion!".  It is all such fucking fake bullshit for media and clicks.  I don't need the guy to yell, flex, grit his teeth, etc. or even give great interviews.

In general since Sark got our shit somewhat together after and Quinn became our QB 3 seasons ago , we have lost by more than 7 exactly 1 time.  I'd posit that neither of the losses last year were on him.

Quinn has limitations in running I wish he didn't have and i've complained about his mechanics(footwork, the flip throws) but the guy has won at a rate not seen since Colt.  If Bert hits some FGs we might even be talking about back to back Big 12/SEC championships.  This is Sark's call and he's going with his guy that has basically had 1 loss in the last 2 years that is truly on him.  Maybe Manning will go 32-0 and we will be talking about what if's but for now we are ridin' or dyin'.

If he does your hypothetical we would have won it all with Arch.

We didn’t need superstar Quinn. We needed above average Quinn, not dog shit red zone Quinn. Auburn was more successful in his attempts than 0/5 Quinn.

Quinn is a decent runner when he's healthy and not playing hesitantly. He's demonstrated that on more than one occasion. He's not Colt or Arch good, but he can exploit open grass and escape when necessary.

yes he's not a statue at all but even with the injury situation he's limited when compared to most high level college QB's(just look at the playoff QB's)

Your first statement is the truth.  As for Auburn he made several kicks.  You’re saying he needed to make one more.

Even if he makes all his kicks, we’re never up more than one score so who knows how it plays out.

If Arch is almost undraftable after his 3rd year as a starter, then you would have a point.

I don't know maybe because Ole Miss protects better only giving up one sack. They are in 11 personnel or 4 wide almost every play creating matchup nightmares. They run HUNH. No slow developing playaction they just drop back and throw the football. We came out in the first quarter doing that and Quinn was lighting them up. That's because that is his strength. Then we dropped back into 12 personnel and trying to play football in the 80's.

Again, Dart threw for 191 and 1td and 1 pick. The defense did the rest. I get that you don't like the kid but he threw for 360 vs Georgia. We dropped a TD pass, missed two field goals, and had 11 penalties. If our defense holds Georgia to 10 points, we don't have a million penalties, and we don't drop TD passes and miss field goals we run away with that game 29-10.

Lol. You think our weak spot is the QB? If the weak spot is the QB why is everyone not loading the box to stop the run and instead they are sitting back in coverage all game and refusing to walk the safety up? I will answer that for you. They are afraid of him. Go watch that 3rd down where Moore scored. We caught Georgia walking a safety up and you know the rest of what happened. Opposing defenses are telling you who they think the most important person to stop on this team is by how they choose to play week in and week out. They aren't sitting back in coverage because they are afraid of the running game.

They do that because the Texas offense remains reliant on explosive plays. It would be stupid to load the box and expose yourself to big plays. Think about it. What defines the Texas offense?

1. Speed at the skill positions

2. Penalties (80th in the country)

3. Turnovers (114th in turnovers lost). Texas has 2 clean games all year (Michigan and Arkansas)

4. Inconsistent Qb play

5. Inconsistent running game

6. Poor Red zone offense (93rd)

Take away explosives, force this offense to drive the ball by executing 10-15 yard play drives, and the offense will struggle. You know there is going to be a penalty or negative play along the way to force a 3rd and long. You are going to get turnover or 2 (14 turnovers by the offense the last 7 games). Get aggressive vs Sark and you know he is going to get you on a couple calls. Why risk that? Make an offense that has shown it struggles to consistently execute drive the field. Even if they do execute, you know they have issues in the red zone.

Dart threw for 199 1td and 1int and ran for 50. Not exactly lighting it up. Their defense turned them over 3 times, got 5 sacks, and held them to 10. We hold Georgia to 10 and we have a new piece of hardware. Milroe is it.

The game was also played in the rain, Dart and the backup were shredding Georgias defense and he was taking off and running for 1st downs regularly. Crossing routs and clear out slants were going for 10+ yards over and over.

Dart threw a slant for a first down on 3rd and 10 from his own 1 yard line. Dude was balling out that day.

It’s a different clip showing Quinn and Arch throwing the same route back to back. Did you even watch? There is a huge difference in how the ball was thrown and this is the main reason for the Quinn criticism. It’s not because “we hate Quinn” like you and thatguy keep saying. We just want the ball to be thrown better. It’s not personal, it’s football.

At some point a linemen is gonna get beat

Then it’s up to Quinn to move in the pocket and make a play.

More often than not he doesn’t he just takes a drive killing sack.

Sitting back in coverage is obviously the best move because Quinn also doesn’t see underneath defenders playing zone well and can’t shred you in the mid range and crossing routes.
