At some point a linemen is gonna get beat

Then it’s up to Quinn to move in the pocket and make a play.

More often than not he doesn’t he just takes a drive killing sack.

Sitting back in coverage is obviously the best move because Quinn also doesn’t see underneath defenders playing zone well and can’t shred you in the mid range and crossing routes.

yes, Texas is 87th in Sacks allowed. There is a lot evidence to for a DC to look and say "Lets force these guys to execute, if they do they win"

Yeah Vince just has the most memorable shot call in program history in a post game celebration interview.

Immediately after losing the last game of the season, right?

this stuff kills me.  I have no idea where it started but every time an athlete yells when they are coming back or pissed about something commentators started talking about the "intensity! will to win! blah blah fucking blah, look at his/her passion!".  It is all such fucking fake bullshit for media and clicks.  I don't need the guy to yell, flex, grit his teeth, etc. or even give great interviews.

In general since Sark got our shit somewhat together after and Quinn became our QB 3 seasons ago , we have lost by more than 7 exactly 1 time.  I'd posit that neither of the losses last year were on him.

Quinn has limitations in running I wish he didn't have and i've complained about his mechanics(footwork, the flip throws) but the guy has won at a rate not seen since Colt.  If Bert hits some FGs we might even be talking about back to back Big 12/SEC championships.  This is Sark's call and he's going with his guy that has basically had 1 loss in the last 2 years that is truly on him.  Maybe Manning will go 32-0 and we will be talking about what if's but for now we are ridin' or dyin'.

It’s a different clip showing Quinn and Arch throwing the same route back to back. Did you even watch? There is a huge difference in how the ball was thrown and this is the main reason for the Quinn criticism. It’s not because “we hate Quinn” like you and thatguy keep saying. We just want the ball to be thrown better. It’s not personal, it’s football.

Lol. You think our weak spot is the QB? If the weak spot is the QB why is everyone not loading the box to stop the run and instead they are sitting back in coverage all game and refusing to walk the safety up? I will answer that for you. They are afraid of him. Go watch that 3rd down where Moore scored. We caught Georgia walking a safety up and you know the rest of what happened. Opposing defenses are telling you who they think the most important person to stop on this team is by how they choose to play week in and week out. They aren't sitting back in coverage because they are afraid of the running game.

They want to confuse him. Quinn doesn’t process well or quickly. Keep everything in front of them and tackle well.  Force Texas into longer drives. Eliminate the big play, try to force FGs or turnovers.

It’s not rocket science. And it’s clearly been working.

A lot of the negative sentiment is from people wanting to see Quinn throw more lasers instead of floaters. And then we get attacked by Quinn supporters saying we hate Quinn. We don’t hate Quinn, we just want him to play better. It has nothing to do with NIL or his commercials or interviews.

Look at the practice clip throws below. The difference between the two is painfully obvious. I’m not saying “put in Arch” I’m just asking Quinn to drop it in the breadbasket like Arch. Less floaters and moon balls should help with the drops as well.

You serious?

Let's dissect these On Air throws... Place defenders in the field. Don't even move the defenders just place them out there.

Arch's laser goes through the OL, DL, and maybe a LB

Quinn's touch pass goes over the OL and DL (no batted balls!) and over the outstretched LB and lands in perfect position for the receiver to highpoint the ball.

Do you see how dumb we just made this comparison.

And yet nearly half of our sacks came against Georgia. 13 out of 28. Considering they are our only losses, there is a correlation there. Rally hard to throw from your back.

Sure. Every defense wants to force every offense into long drives, eliminate big plays, and try to force FGs and turnovers.

This is like saying every offense wants to run the ball, pass the ball, get big plays, and score TDs.

But easier said than done.

My point is defenses are actually doing it vs. Texas. It's being done. On a pretty regular basis. We are turning the ball over, settling for FGs, and having trouble scoring TDs. The mission is being accomplished. We see it with our eyes, and the stats prove it as well.

Unfortunately we don't capitalize on off-schedule plays very often, which can be a big part of offensive success if you just "take what the defense gives you" all game. It's not a strength for Quinn.

I outlined this already, but the Texas offense is #2 in 20+ yards plays in the nation. They are also prone to penalties, turnovers, negative plays, and red zone struggles. They have shown they are explosive, but not efficient. There are offenses with the exact opposite profile. Those are offenses you want to get after, because they are capable of chocking the clock and winning.

All I’m saying is we need more of this from Quinn which is money and in stride creating a big gain.

And less of this Quinn throwing behind the receiver which messes up the stride and makes it harder to evade defenders.

The Michigan throw is default Quinn. You could pull up 10+ throws like that from pretty much every game (outside of OU, Georgia1 where he was clearly still injured).  There are a lot of valid criticisms of Quinn. Placement on swing passes and short routes is not of one them. He is elite there (maybe the best I've ever seen). His placement on those is literally reason #1a or #1b as to why we are so good at generating explosive plays despite having a low average depth of target on throws.

The thing is, if we end the cuteness and just run down their throat this defense is going to be in the trash.

Need to start using Gibson if Wisner isn’t working, Blue can work in spells too but he’s not  the hit it quick slashing runner we need.

Shit make Quinn learn how to take a snap under center and jog out there in single back and run strait down their throat. Or pistol I guess.

Clempson ain’t got the dawgz up front like Georgia to just rush 4 and stay back with everyone and stop the run.

Yeah I don't get that comparison. The Quinn we want from Michigan is the Quinn that threw the pass to Helm and the should have been touchdown to Moore. That's the Quinn we want and the Quinn we need to win a national title.

Clemson has some NFL guys, but they are in short supply. This is a defense that Texas should be able to wear down. On paper it sets up well for 1st Half/Script Quinn, hit some big plays (Clemson was dead last in 20+ yard plays given up in the ACC),  and then hand it over to the run game in the second half.

If the run is working, don't get stupid and draw up long developing plays in the redzone. It constantly backfires for us. Sark gets too clever and decides the way to improve redzone results is to draw up some perfect play rather than keeping it simple stupid.

Eh, I don't know about that. Gibson is not handling the ball well. Even when he doesn't fumble, he nearly fumbles. And if we play him, it screams run because he can't pass protect or go out on routes.

No to the first part. Quinn's footwork is messy enough as is. Giving him more things to handle is just going to make it worse. But the pistol has been good to us. I'd love us to expand our use of that.

I just looked up Quinn's longest TD plays of the season, and 4 out of the Top 5 came against FLA.

1. 50 yards to Wisner (throw back pass behind LOS) vs. FLA

2. 41 yards to Golden (short slant) vs. UGA

3. 34 yards to Bond (swing pass behind LOS) vs. FLA

4. 32 yards to Golden (deep pass) vs. FLA

5. 29 yards to Golden (fake swing pass, wide open downfield) vs. FLA

We are good at explosives. Explosive scoring, less so. But we have a number of TDs in that 15-30 yard range.

  • Michigan - 21 yard pass
  • Georgia1 - 15 yard pass
  • Vandy - 27 yard pass
  • Vandy - 25 yard pass
  • Arkansas - 20 yard pass
  • Kentucky - 17 yard pass
