Don’t know if any of yall watch 3rd and longhorn but the host tried to pull the “everyone is hating on Quinn” rant and Jeremy Hills and Alex Okafor shut that nonsense down.  Guess they hate Texas and Quinn too 🙄

It's Simms 2.0. The same dumb ass people that hated him are the same dumb ass people who hate Quinn. What's crazy is after Simms left and we were still getting trounced by OU and losing that random game to knock you out of contention, people should've been like "it wasn't Simms after all" but no they still stayed on the train. Mack's program was the same until he left. Even Colt couldn't get out of the Mack stank with what happened at Tech and in the NC game. One player was able to spray some febreeze on that shit for exactly one season, and his name was Vincent Paul Young Jr.

Quinn was pretty far down the list on reasons we lost to Georgia but here we are. Special teams. Running game. Penalties. Drops. Offensive playcalling. Then Quinn. Expecting your QB to convert on 3rd and 15 every series is wild shit. Go look at the play by play.

Quinn is at the top of reaons list of why this team possibly won't win a national title(running back injuries is #2), dude is 1-3 in post season games. Congrats on his OU record playing 2 of the worst OU teams this century.

And LMAOOOOOO at you saying Colt couldn't get out of Mack's stink when the dude finished his career he was the winningest QB in college football history. Colt was 3-1 vs Oklahoma, 3-1 in bowl games(the 1 loss being the game he started but was injured), ranks 3rd all time in accuracy, and should have played in back to back national championships but BCS fucked us.

2009 team is a great example of how good a QB with their legs can be for a team....we had no fucking rushing attack worth a shit that year but Colt with his legs propelled this team forward in games. He ended up being the second leading rusher on that team. I'd say 2024 defense is better than 2009 defense. 2009 had a worse receiving group that included James Kirkendoll and Dan Buckner as the second and 3rd leading receivers behind Shipley. 2009 had a worse offensive line as well.

Just LOL at you for bringing an absolute Texas legend Colt, who is a far better QB than Ewers, down while trying to prop up Quinn. God damn you're fucking stupid.

He uses batted balls as a negative for the right side of the line but that shit is happening on both sides of the line because his terrible arm angle and being 6'1. He also double pats the ball right before he throws which signals to the defensive front to get your hands up.

Think you took that wrong. Okafor and Hills pushed back against the idea that it’s just “hate”.  They pointed out the legitimate issues people have with Quinn’s play and that he should expect criticism if he is the starting QB for the longhorns just like Dak gets heat no matter what stats he puts up.

At which point the OL needs to punch the guy in the dick. Simms went through a stretch of batted balls which was crazy given his stature and delivery. I think sometimes QB’s struggle with their awareness of the throwing lane and anticipating the mess that happens in front of them:

Dak get's legitimate criticism because he's essentially a early 2000's QB at tech.  Great between the 20's, puts up big numbers.  Shits the bed in big games and high pressure situations and often pads his stats when playing from behind because the game is out of reach and all they do is throw the ball into soft coverage

Quinn just keeps making the same mistakes.  That's where I see most of the criticism coming from.  Both teams have high expectations, but so do most of the premier programs.  That's the job.

I preferred Simms over Major. I prefer Arch over Quinn. If the goal is to win a national championship, I favor who has the most talent and upside to deliver big plays in big games. Major was short and often had a noodle arm, but was smart and could put the ball where it needed to go. His talent wouldn't have played against the 2001 Miami defense, for example. Quinn has beautiful touch passes and is usually accurate, but it hasn't translated to points in recent weeks due to good defenses and his injuries. Arch adds dimensions of QB running threat and deep balls to stretch the defenses, while not being as accurate at the lateral and short passes. It is possible to believe Arch gives Texas the best chance to win the next 3 games without "hating" Quinn.

Quinn's lasting legacy at Texas really rests on what happens starting tomorrow and his destination after the season is over.

We lose tomorrow, it won't be a fun narrative. We make a deep run in the playoff, it will be what people remember. His story is not fully written yet, and the big Act III dramatic finish is almost upon us.

I also think his legacy will be determined by if he goes to the NFL or if he transfers somewhere else for one more year. I fully expect him to declare for the draft. That means his whole on the field career was as a Longhorn. That matters. For some reason if he decides play CFB one more year at another school, that will leave a sour taste in people's mouths, even decades from now.

A very happy ending is still on the table. Let's go.

This is where you show your lack of logical thinking. We've had 5 batted balls this season. 4 of them on the right side of the line and one on the left. Guess who the left tackle was when the one on the left happened? Not Banks. Quinn Ewers has been here for 3 years. If it was just an issue of arm angle it wouldn't been a problem all three years but its only been a problem this year right? Seems logical as to why. Inexperienced linemen don't know to stay engaged with the defender instead of releasing him and allowing him to jump and tip passes. Again, these are things you know but it doesn't follow your narrative. Phillip Rivers literally threw 10 kids worth of straight side arm passes and never had a problem with batted balls. Quinn throws three quarters and has only had a problem this year.

Our most talented receiver is Wingo. That said Wingo is currently a dropper of the football and lacks the physicality when a DB gets handsy with him. He has never won a 1v1 battle for the ball. Two years from now I have no doubt Wingo will figure it out but he is not him right now. Sark has shown excellent judgement on player development. I have no reason not to trust him on the issue.

I asked chatgpt about the number of batted balls by Quinn and it told me that he ranks last in average yards per attempt.

Specific statistics on the number of batted passes by Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers during the 2024 season are not readily available. Detailed metrics like batted passes are typically tracked by specialized scouting services and may not be publicly accessible.

However, some aspects of Ewers' performance have been documented. For instance, his average depth of target (aDOT) in 2024 was 5.9 yards, ranking last among 119 FBS quarterbacks with at least 150 pass attempts. This represents a decrease of about four yards compared to his previous seasons. In a game against Vanderbilt, his aDOT was a season-low 5.4 yards, though he still threw for 288 yards and three touchdowns.

Additionally, in a game against Georgia, Ewers faced significant defensive pressure, resulting in six turnover-worthy throws, with multiple passes being deflected by defenders.

Last per attempt but still 4 more picks than klubnik in two fewer games?

Pretty sure I'm thinking of three right now that were picked off. Certainly there have been more than two additional ones that fell incomplete.

Or maybe it just seems that way because it's always been an issue.

All local and national media seem to agree now that we probably need to play Arch more to win it all if Quinn keeps playing like he has been.  I don’t seen how even the biggest Ewers apologist don’t see that at this point.  He has already proven he can adlib on broken plays or take off running better than Quinn.  I don’t see the harm in giving him a couple series’s at this point.  Most of us aren’t Quinn haters like some try to say, we can just see he limits the offense hugely with how he’s been playing.

I understand that the current narrative is that "Sark is being stubborn", but regardless, he truly seems to chalk up a batted ball to "shit happens".  They don't worry him as much as they worry the surly QB whisperers.  Take it for what it's worth.

I have no idea if this is true or not, but it feels like so many more than that.

Batted ball against CSU

Overthrow vs UTSA

Overthrow against OU to start the game

INT vs Georgia

2 batted ball INTs vs Vandy

Batted ball vs aggy

tipped ball by Bond vs Georgia

INT vs Georgia

So actually 4 batted balls

Who said they had to be interceptions? Batted balls from Ewers has been a problem all 3 years.

Every QB has batted balls. QE had a regular amount last year so much so there were no INTs. Again it doesn't fit the narrative you are pushing so.

QE's has batted balls at a higher rate than I've seen from other QBs. You made up bullshit then moved goal post to "batted balls with interceptions."

Batted ball interceptions is what we were talking about at the beginning. You moved the goal posts to who said they were INTs as if that is a trackable stat so you could give your opinion based on nothing. Fact is last yr he didn't have batted ball INTs, No one is moving the goalposts. The INTs are what hurt us.

The above is the original comment you made that referenced batted balls. I see nothing about batted ball interceptions....so again why did you change it from batted balls to batted ball interceptions.

Ok. Let's go back to just batted balls. Name all the games last year where we had batted balls. How many did we have? We had 8 batted balls this yr. You cannot name half that many from last season.

See you try to be cute but your argument is still just as nonsensical as it was before.

How are you tracking this stuff? Or are you Rain Man and just know it offhand.

I mean, he could be just making it up and we’d never know. The guys that hate Quinn will neg him and say he’s full of shit, the guys that love Quinn will rep him and say he’s exactly right and it’s all someone else’s fault.

Phillip rivers is 4 inches taller than Quinn Ewers. Even with a lower release he still releases higher than Quinn.

His footwork and throw mechanics outside of delivery is superior to Ewers who can't consistently have good footwork to generate what he needs to throw with power, accuracy, and distance.
