Do you think that I did that on accident? This thread doesn't need more wrought over analysis of individual plays at this point, so I am not going to contribute to that. You and I both know there were more than 1, which isn't even the point. Quinn is fine. He can occasionally reach good, but I am in no way confident that he'll reach that when we really need it. One of us will be proven wrong and one of us will be proven right. I'm fine waiting for that moment.

I'm responding to a statement that I disagreed with. Sorry if that rankled you, Mr. extremely high level operator man. But hey, way to pluck one sentence out of a reply and make a huge fucking deal about it. You managed to completely avoid the macro point.

It's just such a fucking beating.  The very best NFL quarterbacks make multiple mistakes every game but sideline guys like you point out that Quinn "made more than one mistake".

This thread is 422 pages long because of this bullshit.  Own it.

Oh it's only this long because of "that bullshit"? Not because there are a pack of zealots that rush in to defend every post that dares to be critical? That's rich.

Continued deflection with zero supporting evidence for the argument. And your gotcha is that if we don't win three more games in a row against playoff competition resulting in a national championship then you're right with zero logical explanation. Nobody is fooled by this absurd argument you're making.

We expected it, but the results are questionable, honestly. And probably not the best post-game to boast about his playcalling. The reality is our offense has been the wink link for most of the season.

Sark clearly saw something in the film and knew Texas could run on them. I know that’s not creative or exciting. Texas probably had 4/5 long runs on 3rd and longs. He must have identified something in Clemson’s 3rd and longs packages. I know those look like safe calls, but they were really effective today

Again with the false narrative. It's a team sport, and the outcome of a game is rarely decided by the performance of a single player. It just so happens that QB is the most important position in the game, but it's not everything. It's entirely possible that Quinn could even play GREAT and we lose because our Defense falters, our ST lets us down, or the other team just plays even better. And if that happens, you can count on me to come own it and give Quinn his due. No different than I have multiple times in this same thread. Just like it's also possible he could continue to play fine and we could win out. I'd much prefer that scenario, for the record.

You really want to hang me with the "Quinn hater" tag, but there is no evidence for that. I have been vocal that I think he is good, but generally not good enough to be a difference maker at the position. I think tonight was validation of just that.

That’s not the issue. Everybody is shaky sometimes, and Ewers is no exception. The issue is that Ewers is usually good, and sometimes shaky, but never great; and almost never good for four full quarters, or even consistently good for whole possessions.

I know shit worked. But their were more individual playcalls and decisions that were questionable than normal. Going to the Gibson at FB formation once too often. The terrible 1st down throwback screen playcall  (that hasn't worked for a while) that ended up with Wisner/CW getting hurt. Treating Arch Manning like Alex Orgi (enough, I'd rather not see him in the game at all if that's the strategy). Not taking the FG in 2nd quarter. Etc.

Yeah, Quinn protected the ball better today, extended drives, and had a nice TD throw to Gunnar.

His overall game grade is likely...   B+ or  B

Expand

I think he gets an A for today. He protected the ball, didn’t force much of anything, and made a few plays for us that we needed. The 3rd quarter thing is still whack but that’s obviously not only him.

I'm not even sure what your point is?  You're describing the vast majority of college QBs.

And, to reiterate for what it feels like the thousandth time, I don't give a fuck what QE's recruiting ranking was, and the ensuing expectations.  I care about Texas playing our best QB in the moment.  Sark clearly thinks that is Quinn.  Would you prefer he play a guy he thinks is not as well suited to run our offense and possibly win a national title?

Play the guys who give us the best chance to win every game.  End of story.  Stop pearl clutching over the fact that Quinn Ewers is not a Heisman worthy QB, for fucks' sake.

Huckleberry has offered you numerous opportunities to support/defend this opinion but you have failed to do so. You proffer the opinion without showing your work.

I've never paid any particular attention to @RichUT's posts but holy fuck he's making a dumbshit argument and then doubling down on it.

Quinn played fantastically well today. That little sidearm flick to Gunnar Helm when Clemson was in his grill half a second after the snap was awesome.

I think you’re projecting here. I have no idea how good Arch Manning is. Not enough data. I have never once said we should change starters, and I have a long record on these boards of saying that recruiting rankings are an artifact of who is recruiting a given player and don’t mean much beyond that.

That said- yes, I am describing the vast majority of college QBs, who also share the common trait of not winning championships. I don’t think we have a better option, and Ewers isn’t bad enough to explore Manning’s downside, but none of that makes Ewers less frustrating.

Not only Jennings but Allar.  I was watching that game and thinking how much of a QB trainwreck it was.

I don’t think Oregon, Ohio State, or Georgia would. That doesn’t make them right.

Sark called something cute and risky and Quinn put us in the best play to win.

Blues run was MONSTER after they scored late. I mean that shit was like Jaamal Charles saving our ass level.

Ewers had a great game. That play gets us to the semis minimum. I also think the Klubs we saw tonight wins every game at Texas this year.

Klubs would leave the game on a stretcher running like that against Georgia.

JFC, you could not have possibly typed that with a straight face. Will Howard over Quinn Ewers? LMAO

Oregon is the only school that is debatable and they never would’ve sniffed Gabriel if Quinn was on the roster.

As opposed to Ewers getting wrecked in the pocket? I’ve been/am neutral/leaning pro Ewers in this thread but Klubnik looked great tonight in the second half.

Will Howard has been wildly inconsistent too. And beck as well who was worse than Ewers for a big stretch than Season.

I think he felt backside pressure that wasn’t there and had a brain fart. If we’re talking about the roll out to the right turned self sack.
