Thatguy is far worse than I am in this thread.  On something as so cut and dry as that gaffe of play for a 4 yard loss he can’t admit fault with Quinn.

I explained the play to someone that didn't know what happened. No one said Quinn played perfect. That is your expectation not mine.

Nico has immense talent AND gives it his all, putting everything on the line for a first for down repeatedly.

But the team he’s on runs a shit tier scheme and Tennessee had a horrible game plan against Ostate. The fans still turned on him.

Now compare the criticism to what Quinn is getting. It’s night and day, we are all still rooting for him, it’s just our eyes tell us he’s got more in the tank.

Nico is a redshirt freshman too, so he's done well to get them to the playoffs and has the potential to make some real strides.

You guys are hilarious. You guys literally must think Ewers is a fucking moron. Oh, he did his fucking job. Let's celebrate him like he did something special like 4th and 5. It's clear Sarkisian doesn't fully trust him at all, yet you guys are filling up jars because he underthrew a wide open receiver by 5 yards. 60 fucking yards in the 2H with mulitple horrible decisions and throws.

I don’t think QE has played well this year, but I find it hard to be upset with yesterday’s game. I think he played pretty well.

I snickered after the post to golden, knowing this thread. And I also have wondered why he didn’t lead wrs across the field on those post throws. Now he maybe took some coaching and did it, and it happened to bring another db into the play that he either didn’t see or didn’t think could get into the play.

You like your starting QB to be TO prone? Outside the INT, there were 2 more dropped INTs from Clemson. He's careless with the ball.

Yes, damn him for a perfect throw that Moore popped up into the air. Fucking stupid play by Quinn.

Klubnik had at least 3 balls that could/should have been picked by Texas too.

Yes, and if you swapped the QBs, Clemson doesn't score and Texas scores a lot more than 38.

Only because he missed Moore wide open over the middle.

You’re scrambling. It’s ok we’ve all been there.

Yes, I am scrambling for a multi-million dollar QB to play 1 fucking complete game in his final season at Texas. It seems much more likely the only scrambling being done is the lowering of the bar for Ewers.

Ewers played a solid game yesterday. Yes he missed a handful of throws (the 4th and 5 to Golden being the most egregious), yes he still sees ghosts (inexplicable slide to lose 4 yds), but he generally managed the game well and hit some plays that moved the chains.

I’d like for him to be more dynamic but he’s also led us into the playoffs back to back years. I’ll tip my cap to Ewers for that after wandering the fucking wilderness for a good decade before him and Sark.

Looking at the top pic I expected the ball to be dropped right into the chest of Helm. Second pic shows 6’5” Helm leaping to catch the ball. Excellent play by both QE to recognize the open man, great effort by Helm to go up and get the ball. I don’t think anyone else on this team is tall enough to make this catch.

The way it has been going with him 50/50 if he catches it. Maybe tip it to the other team?

My brother texted me and said he wanted to see Arch. After he fumbled the snap I replied, you have seen him now. We didn't see him again. Quinn is the best QB on this team. He will remain the starter unless he gets injured.

Doubtful. The Clemson WRs were making awesome catches yesterday. Our guys were busy tipping perfectly thrown balls to defenders.

I can’t tell if you’re playing a bit or just stupid, I simply said Quinn played “pretty well”. No more, no less.

Fumbled snap was no more on Arch than the INT was on Quinn. Snap was way off center of Arch and way too hard (almost like a shotgun snap).

You realize that ball was being thrown OVER the underneath coverage and is absolutely a perfect throw.

Any receiver on the team that is worth a shit would have caught that ball.

I don’t know if I would classify it as a “leaping” catch.

Great angle. I stand corrected about needing the height for the catch! What a fucking money throw by Quinn. Stuff like this will get us to the top of the mountain. I have no problem eating shit when I have bad takes about Quinn and our team. Just win baby

Not sure. Kid definitely has all the physical talent to be very good. I was impressed with the fight he showed. Mentally, he looks like a 1st year starter. It will be interesting to see how much he improves next year

It should have been an interception. Throw it up and pray will not win a MNC.

OK, this is ridiculous.  We lost to what I think is the best team in the field in OT, and Quinn played worse than he did yesterday.  Stop projecting some Brady-esque level of effort needed to win the title.

Neither Quinn nor Klubnick were perfect. Both made mistakes, but Clemson asked Klubnick to win the game for him. He had 56 plays were he threw or carried the ball vs the #1 defense in the country (coming into the game). I thought he was great. Both QBs got goods grades for the game, but Klubnick took a much harder test. Just to put this in context Klubnick had 3 TDs passes vs a defense that gave up 4 the rest of the season. His 336 passing yards were the most the defense has given up. 211 was the 2nd highest. I don’t think it is about hate, just giving a kid credit for a gutsy performance

You are fighting two arguments with absolute legitimacy here.  Our defense versus Clemsons defense is no comparison.  Cade was trying to stave off a blowout so he likely got a little careless a few times then rebounded.  His pass catchers made some great catches, but those throws were on the money too.

And several have mentioned it, but every QB has some ill advised plays in every game.  That was both guys.

Then the 1st and 15 over an 2nd and 15.  You’re correct.  If that was truly how it played out, you risk the penalty.  But it was only 1 play.

So will I and every other Longhorn fan, but it wasn't a good throw. Yeah, I'm picking nits.

I’m the same way. I was critical about Quinn, posted a screenshot of a throw I thought was suspect, and I got humbled by a different camera angle showing how it was a money throw by Quinn.

I have no problem eating shit about a bad take I have as long as it’s backed up with football evidence. People like @Thatguy and @Longhornlove never admit Quinn has faults, blame other teammates and extrapolate statistics to fit a narrative about Quinn. That is what creates the division in this thread because there can be no reasonable common ground.

I’ve been on the side of @BurntOrange&White with my criticism about Quinn’s play minus the nails deep pussy talk, but even I can admit I’m wrong about certain takes. I can recognize when I’m wrong and accept what my eyes can see. See the Helm catch I posted and subsequent comments. That’s why we post here. We want to talk about the football being played by our starting QB, not to rag on Quinn as a person. Once we win the championship this all becomes moot but I prefer we keep arguing with each other based on football instead of feelings until January. Just win baby!

I thought Klubnick played a great game and just what Clemson could’ve asked for. His home town reunion is nothing but something to hold his head high about. His offense, which was missing some key parts, exposed our defense, especially behind the front seven all night. Cade threw some dimes too!

That was a great environment for him and Clemson heading into next year. Each time I thought Texas was about to bust it open towards a route, they’d come right back. Clemson achieved about 150 total yards more than our defense’s average per game.

Hook’em!!!

The spying was dumb but they stop us there if #20 sticks with his shallow flat responsibility. He was worried about Golden crossing beyond the sticks but if he stays shallow that makes the throw to Golden almost impossible to get over him but to Golden in time to keep him in bounds.

Quinn nearly fucked it up for them though. Blue made a good catch.

Regardless of how you feel about it throwing it was not an option. Ideally you run and get some yards. He took off that way and for whatever reason decided not to take on the defender. Call him a pussy or whatever you want but that's what happened. I don't really care whether you think it showed low football IQ or not. People seemed to be confused as to why he did it so I explained the play.

No reason for him to risk an injury trying to take on the defender, but throwing it away wasn’t going to hurt shit. What is it? 5 yards and replay the down for illegal man downfield? That’s better than losing the yards and the down.

That's not how a person thinks in the flow of the game. You pull the ball and see you can't throw it. Next thought is shit I gotta run. You are not out there calculating how things are gonna work out yardage wise on a pad and paper. You know you cannot throw it late so you try to run. Then you don't wanna get hit when a defender comes free. Simple as that. Get over it.

So, you mean to tell me they don’t understand when they can’t take a sack? Because it loses yards and downs?
